New tool arrived yesterday while I was laid up in bed with a migraine. 19 hour’s sleep and I feel like magic now.

Bought because of sake of owning one, but I may need use of a cheap Chinese £10 scope. Trying to justify to the wife any automotive use for it in the garage. Need to case it though.

Also had an offer to make some seasonal countryside brew, so might have an addition for the home brew thread Coming up.

If you can play Snake on it then that's all it needs....

Weren’t some early games played on a scope? Knowing my inquisitive mind I’ll probably find something

I have a very early memory of my Uncle (an engineer at Marconi) showing me some sort of game on a big old scope he had at home.

Top purchase right there,yummy indeed.

If you haven't already get yourself a grease gun for frequent lubing of the rear radius arms.

I think these cars are going to get a bit of a cult following, with some slightly wider wheels (alloy of steels painted white) and a bit of fluid let out of the suspension to improve their stance they are a cool little car.

There is a young lad here that has a light blue K plate one as his daily but alas it has sod all exhaust on it and if i catch up with him i will cuss him bad.

P.S is it a twin cam ?

Getting ready to run an Alpine car stereo unit up to Six-Cyl's place. Wind speed out there seems quite mild compared to last weekend.

Currently in Shropshire. Just done a deal on a 52 year old Triumph Herald. Might be looking for Shitley quotes soon.

initial driving impressions will be familiar, you sit on it, not in it - it bounces - a lot.

Steering wheel is very skew whiff, tracks straight, but wheel a long way out! Brakes are.....kind of there, with a shove, but a soft pedal to start with. Needs  a clean inside etc etc. Nippy 0-30, you're in top gear at 35. No stereo (not really an issue).  Clutch a little snappy, but not unusual for this era I don't think.

I'll get some engine bay shots (bit* oily) later.

SUV's can't see you. Too smoll.

Reminds me of both my Fiat Uno and Skoda Favorit (esteemed company)

oh, and the Metro seller had a Model T Ford, didn't seem keen to show it to me though!

Nothing car related really today - mercedes started instantly after a week and ran up the road to waitrose. Usual Surrey birds at the feeder in the garden earlier. Now the weather has gone a little stormy.

Metro has a self-destruct button. Lucas immobiliser I think. Were they factory fit?

To quote spike Milligan “ everybody’s got to be somewhere”.

Not one specific release it seems, but related to a bird flu panic back in the 1950s.. People just released them into the wild.

I have five in the local willow tree at the moment.

So if a Lucas-made immobiliser does a Lucas and releases the magic smoke, will the car work or not?

It's like Schroedinger's cat, this.

I have a big 'LUCAS' tag on the key fob. All needs removing I expect...

Bollocks to Storm Dennis.  I was determined to get this done today.

Old one off

Quite hard work lifting and aligning Saab door panels on your own.  They are heavy...

20200215_130229.thumb.jpg.8a0ea78ccacaf2ba9878f64a9774abe3.jpg

I had to leave the dent in the wing (and do some extra expert* panel beating) as the new door was fouling it, so the original hinges must be slightly out.  Patina innit.

I didn't get time to swap the door handles and integral lock, and it looks a pain to get them off, so that's unlikely ever to happen if I'm being honest.  I'll just leave it unlocked and hope no one around here wants to steal a Saab 9000.  I've left cars unlocked accidentally all week before and they've been fine.

Also, new Michelin wipers.  £5.99 each and they work well.  No noises or smearing. Wud reckomend.

OMG SATURDAY WAGONS OF DOOM

The Sam Bramz Subaru joins the household

Taken at Fleet Services 4pm today, when the grim weather dried up (for all of five minutes)

Wife did not enjoy the trip, she has made that clear twice over. But she did know in advance the type of knobber she married ?
