In Italy for the next 10 days. It's a damn good thing I have an Alfa at home otherwise I'd have been trawling the classifieds back home for something.

Borrowed the 18 year old 1.4 petrol Kangoo to grab my spare engine. 120 ish mile motorway round trip.

It's comfier and less van like, than my sisters 2018 Caddy car thing. The 40 litre fuel tank seems a bit tiny for a van though.

For a time over the weekend, the Aero exhibited slight symptoms of its engine oil pickup strainer blocking up (flickering oil pressure light and top end tapping at idle), a very common problem which can be terminal if ignored. Accordingly, the car is to be 'rested' so that I can remove its sump and clean both it and the oil strainer. WCPGW?

So i guess thats not in any way structural then? Id love to give this car a chance, but that looks way out of my skillset. Shame as the wee car only has 74k on it and its like new inside. This Ka will be available in the next few weeks if you fancy using that part for it! ?

He's fine (been checked over by ambulance staff) but my brother-in-law wrote off his Citroen C2 this morning in an aquaplaning incident (hit the central reservation). Be careful out there folks, so much surface water even down here in the beautiful south. As Kent Police tweeted earlier...

Number of crashes this morning in the wet. We are at 4 different crashes and @HighwaysSEAST are with us and at others. Driving too fast or too close in the wet is a common theme. So slow it down people !!! #YouArentInBoats #BullseyeSpeedboatWinnerWeather SL

Car has now been recovered at some cost, straight to scrap yard by Kavanagh. I did venture the idea of getting it recovered to their house and selling some parts from it (it was a VTR or VTS with tan leather interior)...but they didn't...

Got a s/h drivers door seal on the way for the Audi. Its a bit of a fouter with all these towels drying on the radiators to put on the seat to keep it dry!

Also need to sort the non working full beam lights. There is a bodge to do with tin foil on the contacts on the bottom of the stalk but I'm not sure about that. Need to get a steering wheel puller first!

Foutery is the best word ever.

Any Sigma 91 - 96s in there?

Plenty of them in my local yard.

Loads. There were also several 1970s Lancers! One looked fairly decent and almost caused some difficult questions. Phil was more taken by a Sigma estate.

My nephew who's 17 and is learning to drive. He doesn't want to, but his mother's making him.

He doesn't like it, but I asked "what car is it?"

"I dunno, it's red"

?

....

We had other visitors around on Sunday, so there was 6 cars outside. Normally it's 4. None of our neighbours have cars, so I think it balances out.

My son is 17 and just the same, no interest in cars whatsoever.  None of his friends do either, makes me feel like Frank Dibnah.

*edit: Fred Dibnah.  Deffo losing my marbles.

*Fred.

Can't really blame them. They all look the same, and behave much the same now, so what difference does it really make?

Smoll FL was the same until he got behind the wheel and since he went to Chumley, now planning on owning a fleet of shite, no interest in anything modern, C3 is modern enough..

Bought wheels on eBay on Sunday, arrived today at 1:00pm1 That's quick. Also, they look good but the small problem of tyres and how to get them to the tyre place to solve now. SLK is to smoll for luggin' duties!

Tyres on the drive.

There are a few choices nowadays, even kwik fit do home tyre fitting.

Indeed they do but their tyres are fekkin expensive! Black Circles for £405 or Kwik fit for over £500! So, 225/40/18 X2 and 245/35/18 X2 Avons from Black Circles it is. Delivered to Euromaster where they will be fitted all in the price. There are many more cheaper tyres about but I LIKE Avons and they are the quietest available with A grip and C fuel consumption. Whatever I do/did it was going to be a faff so just done it and they will get fitted on Friday, just got to work out how to get four huge wheels into a titchy car....
