Well they can be no worse than an mx5

And if you look at some of the modifications on www.mx5nutz.com you'll realize that it's possible to modify them so far as to make them impossible to drive.

But sensible and they are a hoot.

Turbod the 1.6 can give 200 plus bhp reliably so add that to a TvR look and it's all good really.

That would be ridiculous......I'd wager a better power to weight than the Toyota GT86

Anybody have any interest in a supercharged V8 2007 Range Rover for 4K?

A few electrical problems but in no way properly broken.

Our labourer paid 8 grand for it about 7 months ago but can't afford to run it. :-)

If any interest I'll do a for sale thread for it.

I'd love one but I have the fear factor after speaking to plenty of owners of them where I work and I'm lucky to earn more than a labourers wage, 70k new, still 70k car running costs and British build quality.

Lovely things though if it's the FFRR and not the twatty RR Sport.

It's a proper Range Rover, no sport bollox.

Cream leather and brushed stainless instead of wood inside. Upgraded brakes as well, as he found out when he had the pads changed the other day. :-0

It'd be a steal at 3.5k and I reckon he'd consider it, probably take a bit less anyway.

It's his biggest mistake ever, and he's still on license from prison. The life choices he made to to end up in there pales into insignificance compared to his decision to buy this and run it on about £400 a week.

He's a good lad but a bit lacking in common sense.

There is already a thread for that sort of thing: http://autoshite.com/topic/27546-low-cost-big-liability/page-207

These are my guilty pleasure. There's something so chintzy it's almost nice about them.

However these are IMO bloody lovely, like a mini TVR

They may be total carp for all I know about them but they look spot on.

Can't stretch to 4k, any chance he'd let it go for 1080p?

Petrol or Diesel? My knowledge of Range Rovers stopped when they stopped using the 3.5 V8, would it be an absolute fucking nightmare of ongoing electronic woes and constant need of OPCOM?

A drop to just under eleven quid is a big ask.

Still, that's all I'd offer for it too. This is prime low-cost-big-liability. Not sure I'd even want it for free given the cocking enormous bills they can pull out of thin air.

My grin this afternoon was finishing work early and getting home in the light.

It being still day light meant I ended up leaving the rest of the traffic behind me on the back roads. This is no easy feet in a van weighing close on 3 tons and powered by a 2 litre Pinto. Conservation of momentum is the key - and not having to emergency brake for venison on the hoof for a change.

Kiltox wants one he’s just not accepted it yet.

Has anyone supercharged a diesel?

Mechanic nearby has had an Alfa 166 sat at the side of his place for a good while now, I noticed a nice hole in the rear sill and suspected it's death warrant had been signed.

Called in, sure enough, owner gave up on it and never came back, been sat there a year and a half.

After a positive reception I called back with a fresh battery, a few litres of fuel and some £20 notes.  I then drove it home  :?

It's a 2000 3.0 V6 Super.  And is mostly broken.

I'm not going lie, it's probably not going to see the road again, but it's been a pleasure just for the engine note.

The sills are shot.  The exhaust is blowing.  The nav/climate screen isn't working.  The bodywork is shoddy.  The engine is smokey when cold.  But it's an Alfa.  A devastatingly sexy Alfa.  And I'm glad to have been able to step in to save it from immediate bridging.  Hopefully it'll at least help another live on.

Here it is power-hosed and looking much better than it actually is.

The seats in that 166 are lush, I wish I'd bought one years ago when they were worthless but not completely fucked.

My god the inside of that 166.

I need an Alfa. Anyone roffling a petrol 147 anytime soon?

I do like the look of those, perhaps not yours but well done. The leather interior would make a nice office set of chairs.

That Alfa looks well past any hope of rescue. It would make a fantastic garden ornament though!

Had a grand evening last night at Scotoshite Skunk Worx.

Here we have a veg-powered W124 giving a jump start to a BMW 335i.

My 75 wafted there and back through the January gloamin' splendidly which reminded me how much I like these cars. The chairs are incredibly comfortable and 25 miles felt like just a couple. My usual short journeys are really not doing it justice.

Yeah Mazda did a Comprex 626 diesel with a supercharger and apparently it was awful.

Not awful, just a bit underpowered and thirsty. Okay that doesn't sound good.

It's probably smoother to drive than the equivalent turbo diesels of the era.

I wish I'd gone for the one that was for sale up here about a year ago, just to try it out.

Things to do today (already done)

Part one: Buy slightly dented car door for a 2010 Nissan Micra. Haven't got a Micra,  haven't even got a Nissan. So why buy it? Because it was £1, that's why.

Part two:

Extract Focus ST out of PoP without wrecking clutch, and without fire. Especially without fire.

Didn't even need the Royal Vectra to tow it out, it started straight up and drove.

That Alfa is nice. I'd probably still try to save it, depending on the state of chassis rot and after scanning the codes for the various blinky lights. Any signs of bottom end knock would be a killer though.

The big V6 petrol engine does equal atrocious taxes over here, and combined with through-the-roof fuel prices it just wouldn't make any financial sense to drive it.

Bloody ABS/BAS/TC  light is back on. I guess the ECU has got wet again.
