Yes I might give that a go. Sorry I'm just being lazy asking for recommendations, I'm sure a Google will help yield results when I've recovered from wasting my Saturday needlessly!

I wouldn’t really try no more nails, I was being facetious.

Try something like this....

Tigerseal over the canvas then run a fork through the Tigerseal.

Can’t you comb a bit over from the side like Bobby charlton? ( Victoria wood joke!).

I'd be looking at the tracking as well mate, with inner edge wearing like that.

My Polo did this and it was a suspension bush that was allowing movement causing it to scrub on the inside.

Well that sucks, Rob!  At least you're being positive about it and it sounds like it's not a hideously expensive repair in either case.

I've also been wondering whether to sell the Metro (something I do atleast once a year). I got as far as taking photos but then took it for a spin. It doesn't know the meaning of keeping up with modern traffic, but I don't care as it's a hoot, and people can sod off and slow down anyway. So it's staying.

To use egg's words, I think the Renault relief has helped take the edge off as that's worked out to be a cheap fix. Still annoying that people do this sort of mindless vandalism though.

That photo could have been taken any time in the last thirty years! Both cars look like new.

Rob, you can’t sell your Metro, it’s family.

In other news, my Audi 80 is now back in running order again after I fixed the fuel system.

After wrestling with this...

post-4091-0-00567700-1543687476_thumb.jpeg

...to check that this wasn’t stuck...

post-4091-0-10612000-1543687517_thumb.jpeg

...then testing that this (the cold start injector) was getting current...

post-4091-0-16097400-1543687698_thumb.jpeg

...and finding that it was dry as a nun’s nasty, as an Aussie acquaintance of mine used to say...

post-4091-0-33001000-1543687825_thumb.jpeg

...I went to test this...

post-4091-0-30996600-1543687904_thumb.jpeg

...which had welded itself to the board at a molecular level so I managed to break it...

post-4091-0-40039600-1543688000_thumb.jpeg

...so I had to buy some tools (trim pliers) and a used replacement off eBay...

...it became apparent it was the fuel pump itself that wasn’t working.

So I was just about to order a new one from GSF when the estimable Mr 320Touring said hit it with a hammer again only properly this time, which I did and of course it worked.

[sigh]

There's a lot to be said for hitting things with a hammer, sometimes it gets things working again, sometimes it will teach it never to do that again; unfortunately it's frowned upon to use them on people.

How is N118MFV (Jag XJ) going along? Still got her?

The XJ6 is now with Broadsword, and I think he's planning to do a thread at some point. I had it a whole week! He'll be a good custodian of it I reckon.

Percussive maintenance is foolproof, it’s broke anyway so it can’t be any more broke can it? And if by some miracle it fixes it then result!

Glad you're keeping the Metro Rob - I will admit that I raised a metaphorical eyebrow when you mentioned you were thinking of selling it.

The vibrations probably wake the thing up.

New mot on the T4 this morning :-D , but it needs a bush in the lower wishbone sooner rather than later . Not bad for 180,000.. I bought it brand new for £9995 plus vat 18 years ago. It's been a good van ,but it's going home fast :-( . Probably still get 1500 for it

You will probably get more than 1500! 1 owner and looks pretty straight!

Needs a clutch and a cambelt ..and it  stinks inside of horse piss and dog hair .

How are we supposed to contact the admin team nowadays? There are stickies for all manner of shit, but not for that.

The forum contact link at the bottom left of the site on the is deeply shit, it just goes into an endless "Capcha" loop trying to prove you're not a robot.

All I want to do is ask where the bloody signatures have gone from the bottom of people's posts...

I believe you can turn on/off everyone’s signatures in your account settings.

I use the same approach when considering my credit rating.

Fucking VAG. Noticed some leaves stuck on behind the wipers. I made the mistake (?) of removing the scuttle cover.

Yup even after 3 major generations of A4s and a decade + half, there is still a scuttle that fills with crap.

And a drain hole with a rubber bung that fills up with crap.

Took it out and gave a clean out.

I've left it in there for now, but I'll keep eye on it as it'll no doubt fill up again. Has lasted 8 years so far though.

Snuck out with Chester earlier, leaving Phoebe fast asleep on the sofa (her legs are bad and I wanted her to rest, but if she knew we were off out in the car, she'd have been the first one out of the door!) and so he and I took the XJ-S for a burble. All very civilised we thought and all going well until I flicked the wipers for a single wipe and the stereo cut off!

'Oh joy' quoth I 'Another new foible!' and I prodded and fiddled to no great joy. In my infinite wisdom, backed up by Chester after a brief conversation we assumed the two events were connected and yet another electrical problem had reared its ugly head. However, after Chester's walk, a quick butchers hook was cast stereo wards and it turned out the cassette player had chosen the precise moment I flicked the wipers to eat the fucking tape! Oh how I have missed the joys of old cassette players!

Who was it that deleted all the pinned threads because we had too many?

Because... yeah.
