Be careful, most Peugeot alloys have funny bolts with a flat washer and won't work with the Audi tapered bolts, and if the centre bore is larger, it could get.... interesting.

A set of spigot rings (fiver off eBay) is the way round the second issue.  The first might need more investigation.

If it's like some other Volvai, it's probably only actually recorded about a third of the miles it's traveled too!

I really want to (yeah, get me, all keen to be outside working on a car!) get on with changing thermostats and oil pressure switch (it's definitely duff as it's pissing oil out!) but the Gods have got it in for me... absolutely blowing a gale and intermittent rain coming down sideways. I have a strong aversion to an extra long bonnet smiting me about the back of the swede!

Also, it is bin day, the bins are all blowing up and down the road now they are empty, just had to rescue mine from halfway up the road and recover two little ones from the side of the Jaguar and a full size wheelie bin from the tiny gap between Jaguar and the Merc. Amazingly, no damage to the cars! A couple of years ago it was the same situation that put a HUGE dent in the side of the Bentley!

Something to note re vehicle tax direct debits.  I'd started to trust the system but have noticed two of my DDs are still setup.  I should have received a refund on the ZX by now but haven't.  It's only £13 but still, I'll go back to cancelling my DDs in future rather than expecting the DVLA to do it.

Hark at you being all pro-active.

Dropped the SD1's starter motor at the local auto spark.

They tested it - motor appears ok but lots of smoke which made the guy feel sick.

Solenoid methinks.

Driving home last night there was wheelie bins and their contents everywhere and it was less windy than it is now. You've got me fearing for my cars!

A vessel named the Samskip Endeavour has completed a trip from Rotterdam to Dublin running entirely on WVO.

I can only assume it's fitted with an XUD.

Meant to fill the Scirocco with fuel yesterday but forgot.

Managed to remember this morning & got 54.69 litres into what is supposed to be a 55 litre tank.

Is it actually possible to run it so low?

Posted

If you brimmed the Scirocco then there is probably a couple of litres in the filler neck pipework, so perhaps 2 - 2.5l left in the tank.

That's my understanding anyway.

Just been and bought more stuff for yonder Jaguar,  a couple of gallons of anti-freeze, brake fluid (need a 'tiny' amount) and tried to buy 'Barrs leaks' as Jaguar say (yes really) that if a coolant refresh is performed, you put TWO bottles of Barrs leaks in with the fresh coolant. No bugger sells it round here at all! Had to order it from Amazon. Also went to the garage and raided my own stock and got blue Hylomar (new tube - at least 6 years old) and all my spanners in the size range to get at that bloody oil pressure switch.

So I have everything needed to do the thermostats and oil pressure switch (except Barrs leaks) on the V12  and the wind is STILL blowing at speed that would whip the Saharah into a frenzy and as I have no desire to have a bonnet imprint in the back of my head, another day is lost when I could be out cruising :)

Due to the powers of Facebook I know this tale lacks a happy ending...

I'd be checking when the pump was last calibrated if that was the case!

Nah they are designed with an air gap at the top of the tank, so if you shake the bike when filling you can get extra in. Still amused me though.

I’ve put 26 litres in the 25 litre tank of a 2cv before now- and that’s driving to the station! Was very tense and nerve wracking getting there though.

I am informed my new purchase has been repaired.

Hello from Kiev.

Have a shit photo of an LDV convoy!

...with taillift! That's ambitious. It suggests they're trying to get its asthmatic lump to pull it, a Luton, a taillift AND some other things too heavy to be lifted in and out of the back. Those CRAZY russkis.

Today was my last day slaving away for a bloody Septic giant corporation. I hope forever. I just fucking hate them.

On Monday I'll join a delightfully Yerpeen company investing huge motherfucking money in the post Brexit Ununited Kingdom.

Like they all do since the referendum.

Probable collection duties tomorrow...only probable as haven’t actually seen it in the flesh yet, but the very detailed pics I requested look spot on! Unless it’s fucked I’ll probably get it!

I’ll even do live collection thread and everything...
