The foxes at work are getting a bit cocky. This cheeky sod was just sitting outside the window at 8:45. :D

Had Stomils on the back of a Marina in the mid 80's. Good winter grip with an upturned pallet and 2 large stones in the boot.

Well, the Oldsmobile is now well on the way to being satin black.

The result is generally ok. Some odd patches of less than satin, but will hopefully flat out. The replacement seats to be sourced from an Omega, in grey. The carpets will be in a darker grey. The droopy headlining will be replaced in a pale grey.

The bonnet isn't as bad as it looks on the photos, the patchiness is mainly* just shadows, as being satin as opposed to just matt, it does have a sort of sheen to it.

Hence the reflection from the grille on the bumper.

Went to see the free Rover 45 last night, it's been sat for 18 months in the corner of a garage yard, the interior's mouldy, the battery's completely dead and the outside is turning green.  On the plus side, once I persuaded the doors to open, it did start using a slightly knackered slave battery and some jump leads, runs rough though (ancient petrol) plus the 'knocking' that caused it to be abandoned in the first place is quite loud - however, it's top end 'tapping', not bottom end 'knocking' and I know these 1.4 K-series engines have hydraulic lifters which allegedly can be noisy when the car's not been used much.  Of more concern was the blue smoke it produced when started and the coolant tank was a) brown and B) empty with the lid off.  It had just had the head gasket done so probably not refilled when the noise started as it was at that point he threw in the towel, told the garage to leave off any further work and bought another car (a Clio which is also dumped at the garage with an MOT failure list as long as your arm).

Obviously, I'll take it.  What could possibly go wrong?

Nice job rescuing it; now get some pictures up to let us see whether the interior can match the quality of Cavcraft's latest stock.

7 years ago I last went to the 24h race at the Nurburgring in a diesel BMW 5 series that clicked over 250k at Kerpen, a few kilometres away.

Enough time has passed that I have almost forgotton how bastard freezing the Eiffel mountains can be at night when camping in May so tomorrow we're going back, this time in a diesel BMW 5 series with 255k miles recorded.

Plus ça change, plus c'est la même chose indeed!

A nice gentleman from Ford UK dropped this off earlier.

I'm going to run a short thread in the modern section because I think they're genuinely interesting new cars.

Got it for a few days and aim to take full advantage!

Oh my!! That is just gorgeous. They are about the only modern I'd actually want and buy. V8 only mind you, non of that limp wristed eco bollocks.

Enjoy it!

I spy GT on the back - so a V8! :)

I keep opening up a saved search on them in Autotrader and can't help eyeing them up. They're all still very low (sub 6k) mileage and thus all still very expensive. Not helped by a long waiting list either. Hopefully when the 2018 model comes out with its 10spd auto box and revised styling this age may drop a bit.

I'm hoping they'll be down to the 25k mark late this/early next year. That's roughly what a Golf would be and like a Golf it has a boot , so it justifies my man maths.

Still a hell a lot to spunk on a car. However it's the only modern that I could do that on. Literally nothing else anywhere near that peaks my interest in doing so.

The other part of me says it's ridiculous and I should get a 1960's Mustang for similar money - which would financially make much more sense!

My love of these stem from the fact is a brand new big naturally aspirated V8.

What's so special about that?

Well naturally aspirated is rare nowadays and a big V8 even less. Basically I see it the last hurrah and the golden era of petrol internal combustion engines before we go all electric.

Also had a convertible one for hire last year on our honeymoon on the west coast of the USA (only a V6 mind). So possibly the rose tinted glasses involved too.

Why have they dropped that stang off? Looks very bloody lovely

I think the Omega is still such a good looking car ...

Dragged the MV6 out of its 18 month slumber today. It hasn't even been started in that time, took a spare battery with me but before changing it I tentatively stuck the negative lead back on the current battery and she fired into life!

All 4 tyres blown up and a gentle move up the road to bring it home took place.

Looks cleaner in the picture, it's become absolutely manky in the short time it's been off the road. I will jet wash it tomorrow then make a decision on what I'm doing. I will need to throw a few quid at it for MOT I think.

still want one

The DVLA have all of my initials on a reg plate. I've never been into 'private' reg plates but I quite liked the idea. It's 250 quid all in. Might do it.

I drove the Eco bollocks edition in America. It was nice and did move well although uncomfortable after a few weeks of driving around in a big Dodge! It also had an exhaust note that seemed to be engineered to sound more beefy than it was. I would however like a go in the V8, for a few weeks preferably.

It's the original spare, fitted after the MOT, when we discovered a screw in the tyre that was there. Must get that repaired...
