AAAAAARRRGGGHHHH

Vodafone have caused some serious problems, plus work stress and so forth.

Anyway, upshot is:

Hearse needs to go - anyone interested in a project hearse? Probably around £350. It's not got MoT and I haven't tried - normally I would, but in this case October is filling up with plans that mean it won't be happening.

Smart is going to go, and Twingo is going to go, and MGF is going to go.

The 500 SEC's front suspension has given up - need dampers, bushes and links all round, which is going to be tougher partly because I'll have to work without the lift, the car is too long. The SLK's exhaust needs replacing. Time is slipping away much too quickly. And as you can probably guess, for reasons both good and bad, I've barely had time to be online, update threads and so forth!

Bother! I once had to call out the AA when all I needed was a pair of pliers. That was annoying.

I once called recovery in Ireland & told them I just need a 24mm socket & I can fix it. They turned up with a set that went upto 22mm, so had to trailer the bike back to Yorkshire!

Also does anyone fancy a Berlingo, pre facelift 1.6 TU engine, silver with a full-length ragtop, in need of a new clutch, in Brighton?

Missus car had intercooler hose split and ford wanted 53 plus vat for one.. but ebay 11.95 a pair.. to change them i had to remove pipes but bastard hoses upside down for access.. so removed and put round for easier access, and just for kicks euros supplied an airfilter for massive 4.69!!

My week off to tittyvate my scooter and car aint going to plan.

I've cancelled my plans for the 2CV to be at the NEC in November. Looking at the schedule, there's just no chance it'll be ready in time. I don't want to be throwing it together in a blind panic just for the sake of a show. Not when I've got a really important deadline two days before the show.

However, we do have a date for paint now! There's a chance she may be back on the road in November yet. Or perhaps I'll get sensible, keep her off the road for the winter and take my time getting her ready for the new season.

Got the Mercedes to the dealer this morning to order the ignition barrel. Tried to do it on the phone but they wanted the v5, a photo Id and a photo of the chassis plate! £102.50 so it could be worse, and will be here in five days which isn't bad for a 22year old car. I do think the barrel is on its way out though as although the key turned this evening at work I had to help it back to position after starting as the spring seemed to stick. I won't chance using it again.

What you do to order a new barrel when the old one is completely dead I don't know - obviously you can't get the car to the dealer. Perhaps they come to you?

The Oldsmobile again.... It has had a bodge in the past so that the ignition switch doesn't operate the starter. Why I don't know. It starts from a separate switch. Snag is it will start in any gear position, not good with an automatic. Also the ignition switch tumbler just comes out with the key. Steering lock also not working. Time to investigate then. This car is taking over my life! In a good way..

I'm sure its undo 1 bolt, stick a screwdriver down behind the lamp to release the clip and pull the lamp out, same as the focus I think.

Red n white again?

I think so. Body, bonnet and vent panels are certainly being painted white next month, and the wings I have to go on are vaguely red. Don't have any decent rear wings at the moment. Must remember to do something about that. Did have glassfibre ones on there, but they've degraded pretty badly, in the same way the metal ones usually do! (down the front edge).

2 bolts for grille then 2 "tent pegs" per light and out it jolly well comes

On this day in 1995, I passed my driving test at the second attempt. I've come a long way since then, both literally and metaphorically.

Some utter fucktardian cut me up a treat this morning as he didn't understand give way lines. Shame he was stopping in the same car park for the shops I was 100yrds later. I blocked him in & went to the bacon butty shop, he comes ranting about being in a rush so I replied 'annoying when people drive like a cunt isn't it?' and then ignored him for the 10-15mins till they got to my order.

Cheered me up for the day :-D

Yep, except that one of the "tent pegs" didn't want to budge. Ended up paying Halfords a fiver to do it for me. Truly I feel the shame.

some thieving pikey chogged two sets of car keys from my next door neighbours house last week. The local garage managed to get their old Berlingo on the go with ease but their new is Vitara had to be trailered to the dealership.

The 850 went for its MOT yesterday. It may be dead. A bush has given way in the rear axle and it looks like too much to do in the driveway, especially as I'm working away all week and the next two weekends are spoken for. I've been to see the local Volvo specialist and he's going to let me know on Monday but realistically I don't think it's going to happen. It might be James Brown time, which would be the end of private motoring for me.

Would somewhere inside help in the chances of fixing?

I have space in Forfar you could use, it is a little awkward to get into but the 940 and the C70 both managed.

There if it is of use.

I imagine a proper, skilled locksmith would be able to get it removed in this scenario?

BIG NEWS. SD1 MOJO RE ACQUIRED.

I replaced the n/ s front wing but repaired the o/s as a cost saving exercise. However I always found myself looking at the areas I repaired. I bought an o/s front wing and today I removed the old one -

post-4771-0-24086100-1475167015_thumb.jpeg

Good job really as there were areas of rot not visible with the wing fitted that only would have spread. So I have a bit of work to do before fitting the new one. Pointless spending four figures on a paint job when the car is still rusty. Changing the wings on one of these is not for the taint hearted - they are a bit awkwatd and looking at the cars construction I can see why they rusted so badly.

I have a compressor that would have helped but no room yet to set it up.

When you've finished it Bren I'll have numbers 8 & 18.

I traded the modern for a slightly less modern.  Although the mk4 was a panda it didn't feel like one, too smooth, quiet and refined compared to the mk3.  Crunch time came when I took it for a spot of green laning and was worrying about damaging it instead of having fun.  The problem with the mk3 1.2 petrol for off roading is it runs out of puff on inclines at slow speeds.  My solution is a mk3 1.3 turbo diesel! Ten more bhp and lots of torques, quick at the lights and generally a nice little motor to rattle around in.

I shall certainly be keeping this one a bit longer than 5 months!
