I've attempted to vinyl wrap my MZ today. I've concluded that juggling soot would be easier (thank god my in-laws work ast a sign company so I got offcuts* as they all in the bin. 1/2" brush and dulux it is then!

Have you considered plastidip ?

I thought those tales about foreign scammers offering gold rings for petrol money etc were all bollocks - until today - flagged down by a bloke with a BMW on foreign plates on the entry slip to the M1 this morning - then he starts with this guff about how he'll give me his gold jewellery - I just laughed at him and drove off.

Last night I finally managed to get the ZT gearbox back on the engine.  Flip knows which bolts go where (it's been so long since I took the flipper to bits), but I've got a few in the right holes.

Jesus, Trig can I bring one of mine over for mopping!

I'm conflicted about 80s Marina.  I'm happy it's got some love with the polish.  I'm sad that all the 80s nonsense has been ditched, hopefully not binned, those rear window louvres are worth a bob or two and if they're in serviceable condition people will even pay cash money for those ridiculous side pipes.

Posted

The side pipes were rotten and just fell off and the rear lourve lived on elsewhere, the rear suspension set up was really badly done too.

Is it the kind of air cooled engine that has fins on the cylinders?

I've always wanted to get hold of one and polish it up so I can put it its the living room as an ornament.

It is. Although this ones cooling appears to be reduced by added mOss and leaves!

I've offered it around the Citroen websites and somone has offered £ and will collect! And they've even seen the photos!

Tell us about the MZ.

I was astonished to discover on the mot website that my dad's old TS250 is still on the road. He sold it in about '88 I think.

If you could be asked there's about £3 in profit on ebay for them, after fees timewasters etc!

I thought about that but to be honest if I sell them you can guarantee I'll buy said car the very next day!

If anyone has a need for a modern give me a shout - I have a 2008/08 1.2 Clio, less than 50k miles, 1 owner, FSH coming in shortly that I'd like a quick sale on so heavy shiteist discount available

Potentially getting a second ZX in the next week or so, a diesel powered one as a winter car whilst I try to preserve and fix the niggles on the early blue one. It's staggering how cheap they all are, I saw a (manky interior though) late diesel with low mileage go for £88 a few weeks back.

One of the contenders is a little way away in Norwich however, so it might be subject to my first ever collection thread. I did find a nice (in the photos anyway) one locally but the seller has an inability to pick up the phone, plus being a TURBO diesel means my insurance would go up. NA diesels seem to cost the same as 1.4s to insure, conveniently.

Watch this space…?!

I have been at a local show in Brackley today and told the owner of the Jaguar MK2 rip off to get away from my Daimler!

This Cherry Turbo was the car I most wanted to go home in!

My zx is naturally aspirated, its fine for everyday use. Yes it won't win any traffic light grand prix's but it will cruise all day at 70mph and still return over 50 mpg. I love mine to bits, its a definite keeper, I've spent more on it than its ever worth but its so comfy to drive. considering i originally brought it as a tip run car its now my daily and a pug 206sw is now the tip car. Unfortunately i'm breaking beko's old ZX as it was uneconomical to sort out the issues so if you need any bits give me a shout.

I'm slightly ashamed to admit that I have a sneaking liking for those Viewts, it looks like a, fairly talented, small child's drawing of a Mk2 Jag. If they were really, really cheap I would like to get one and paint it red with a black vinyl roof, as a sort of budget Inspector Morse, telling people I was part of the frivolous crime squad, just investigating things like missing chocolate bars.

Drop me a pm with a price, I might need a car for the eldest if she manages to shift her Polo ;)

The truth is that I have know the owner for many years and I really did tell him to bugger off with his replica, but no offence was taken. He has a number of Micras including a 1984 anniversary model he has just bought.

Today I found out the brakes on the Xantia are in fine fettle. I reckon 17-Coffees' underwear is a Cat C write-off though.

We were heading back to Aberdeen from a local car show, pootling a long a back road at 45-50mph, came round a corner... and found a stationary line of traffic for the T-junction 200 yards ahead, and the queue started just after the apex of the corner. We ended up at 45 degrees across the road, as I swerved across to avoid the back of the 3er estate at the tail of the queue. My front bumper ended up level with its rear door, so I'm glad nothing was coming the other way, as going into the 3er would have fucking hurt!

I'm still pretty amazed at how quickly the Xantia hauled itself up though, and the front end still hardly dived, I could feel the rear brakes clamping down hard to keep the back down.

It was a bit embarrassing reversing back onto my side of the road when another car came round the corner and looked at my car sprawled across the road like I was some sort of idiot...

Changed all the brake pads on the e46 today. Nice design made it really simple, same can't be said for adjusting the handbrake which was a bit of a fiddle. Also swapped out a drop link which was nice and easy thanks to the drop link tool I made up yesterday. It's great when a plan comes together. Good job too as still feeling shit as a result of some weird bug I have had this week. Just need to sort one brake pipe and it's MoT for another year.

Couldn't fight it any longer....

Stop it... the M reg LS400 that's exRantingYoof may be available in a couple of months' time. I'm fighting the urge but failing. Hard.

If none of them want the air cleaner I will take it off your hands.

I got scammed several years ago in France - 2004 and I'd not heard of these cons. English guy in an old British registered Volvo stopped me as I was leaving the air de bais de sommes in my Citroen cx DTR. Sob story and, being a soft touch, I gave him 20euros. Mug.
