About two years ago my son bought a scruffy second hand Clarke portable garage for £50 with plans of housing his 300zx in it but instead left it rolled up in my garden. Fast forward to today and I dug it out of the bushes and spent 45 mins putting it up.

I wasn't expecting it to be any good but I'm quite impressed with it's design and how you can tension the cover so it is nice and tight. I don't think it would last long in a location like an exposed field but if it is well ancored down the side of a house I reckon they would be great asset for a shitter.

My father in law had one of these and they're great. What you need to do is to make sure that the top cover is pulled really taught over the frame because if it gets windy and it flaps about then the frame rubs through the cover. My brother-in-law built it for my FIL and did a shitty job, and it rubbed through in about a dozen places over the space of 2 years.

Something thats massively worth doing is fitting pipe lagging to the 60 degree angle sections to help cushion the elbow from poking through the cover if you can

Some people who live just down the road and whose house is on the seafront have one of these that they keep their MX5 in and its survived absolutely fine for 10 years or so, in a position that's much more exposed to wind and weather. It does look like it was built correctly though

I have had a parent say similar to me about taking the kids in the 2CV…

I got the same on here on a 19 year old car with a 4 star NCAP rating.

Quite irresponsible

Same parent quite possibly carries the kids around in a 4 year old Evoque with fucked tyres or metal to metal brakes which they refuse to rectify until MOT time!!

edit:

After all the excitement of registering for a TFL account and then punching in the reg to register it as exempt I got this:

Job jobbed!

Print that out or save it somewhere, I have little trust in Mr Khan(t) and his systems....

A positively sensible vehicle for child transportation!

Looks like the sort of storage solution I need for some of the fleet which have to live outside… I can’t just never find one for anywhere near £50!!

I have just been to view, and purchased, a 125…

Decided when I sell the scirocco I want to press on and actually do my big bike test but after doing my CBT last year I realised I’d probably benefit from a few months on a 125 to build my confidence before taking a test.

Found this on Facebook 15 mins from us, it’s 1 owner from new and only done 1700 miles. It’s not spotless, few chips and rust specs but not been down the road or anything. Sounds brilliant too.

Will Roffle in 6 months when I’m done with it if there’s enough interest. I’ve just paid £800.

Finally got my dad to get rid of that bloody Zafira, was gonna need welding and painting soon and I told him no 🤣

He's away to see an 18 plate Insignia, hopefully he buys the bloody thing so I can set the Zafira on fire up the fields and claim the insurance

This might interest @juular, I got talking with a friend of mine's Dad yesterday and we were chatting about cars for a bit. He showed me this photo he found and recently scanned.

This is him with his 1962 Volvo Amazon, taken in Sydney in 1983.

This was one of two Amazons he had, the other one he bought as a university student when he studied in Sweden a year later. He now owns two mid-1950's Chevrolets.

I looked up the Lada when it was for sale and it was showing as not exempt. it should be (unless there is some BS referring to imports) but would investigate before planning to bring it into Sadiq Turpin's Utopia

Ooh I just checked and you are correct. It's in the historic tax class so it should be exempt, I'll register it with TFL and see what happens...

yah dont actually have to register for a TFL account its just the general ULEZ checker does not really work properly so anything thats post 1973 will still come up as needing to a pay a charge when it wont if it is historic vehicle taxation class'ed

if you go to the pay a charge checker a Historic vehicle is correctly flagged as exempt :)

Ill shortly be extracting this with a view to giving it a service and mot and preparing it for sale.

It has been comprehensively restored by a local specialist with photo documentation, and is completly standard 'City' specification.

Ooo, I'm going to enjoy this one! A5 through the mountains was the perfect first drive. The torque is addictive! I can safely perform overtakes I haven't been able to consider since I had the Cooper S. The vRS does it with far less noise and drama - befitting of the more mature white-bearded man I am these days - not so mature that I didn't cackle like a cheeky kid when I surprised a BMW 420 as we pulled off a roundabout onto a section of dual carriageway.

As I came down the valley towards Llyn Ogwen there was a bong and a warning flashed up on the dash. I pulled over and when I got out of the car thought,  "ffwcin hell it's freezing". Took me far too long to realise that the warning on the dash was because the outside temperature had dropped below 4 degrees! In my defence it's been a long day for both me and the dog! Still the stop was an excuse to take some pictures and reward the Travelling Whippet with a sausage roll for being so well behaved on the journey today.
