You need a car insured on a full policy to have a classic insured tho amirite?

Not necessarily (unless things have changed).

If she previously had Motability ins there shouldn't be any problem with normal ins.

Motability don't even ask about your disability. Seems a bit strange, but that's how it is.

So just insure it as long as she is fit to drive.

Might be worth putting a few possible cars through the Meercat.

For classic you have to have use of another car, supposedly at same address. I did at Peter Best anyway.

Flipping heck gents. Insane.

Either of those dirty bimmerz I'm sure would be an option.

I need to see her before we go any further because a) it's for her... 2) she is proud so will take some beating down of her stubbornness and d) insurance. This isn't something she's had to tackle for a while because of the omgDLAkia. Push comes to shove we may need to be a little creative, within the margins if you follow. I am unsure about whether she has to declare her illness or not etc. Classic policy may be an option but she only has street parking.

We'll get there by hook or by crook. Thanks again

I did not jump forward with this car in spite of being a requested E36 not because I did not want to part with it, but because I am not proud of it. My 328i was bought 6 years ago as a track day car, but the garage tasked with preparing it they said it was too bad to track day and I have bodged it to keep it on the road ever since. I would like you to inspect it so you know what it is really like before any money is spent on insurance.

Cancer is not a medical condition that must be declared to DVLA unless you have been told by a doctor to do so, or have problems with brain and/or nervous system.

https://www.gov.uk/cancer-and-driving

Unless she has been told by a doctor to inform the DVLA that her driving might be affected, then as far as the DVLA and insurance are concerned she is a normal driver.

Motability will provide confirmation that a driver has not made any claim on insurance, which can help as an equivalent to ncb with insurers.

That is wonderfully shonky! I like that a lot.

With so many gr8 offerings, what about some kind of autoshite car pool, has each one for a month then gets a mystery new* car the following month

Spices it up a bit and gives her something to look forward to dread at the end of the month, and people only have to loan out their prized possessions for a month at a time.

I can see it bringing some additional complications with insurance though.

^^ That is a bloody typical AS cunning plan. Made me laugh at the most excellentness of it.

That does sound good if it went ahead perhaps she could also take a picture of each months car In a different place and compile an autoshite calender with them and the proceeds go to a comfort fund for her or a charity of her choice.

Posted

You know what, if she could find an insurance company that would play ball that would be a cracker!  I'd even send Huggy into the programme as a treat/threat (delete as applicable).

For a month she could have a choose from our stable as well. DS23?!

What if she insured something cheap initially fully comp and drive any vehicle, then drive the pool cars that are insured because technically they aren't owned by her

I'm probably stating the obvious as usual but would a trade policy work?

Would Emma be interested in the fiesta? I've got three numbers left on raffle which I'd give to her free of charge. It's only a small gesture I know and only a chance of winning but offer is there.

Posted

Hey man.

That's very kind, but by the sounds of things your need is greater than hers ATM. I will always ensure she can get about, so get some money for them remaining numbers.

The gesture is more than enough. Thanks.

No bud, honestly it's fine. I can rock the auction at full capacity and manage on the paid tickets enough. It's just a way for me to give back if I can.

From what you've said on here of your current situation bub, that is a massive gesture - Respect.

It's official: Daryl Bowe is a top chap.  Though anyone who knows him already knows this.

Number 49 is last number left as 83c had a couple random selection. Hope this is OK.

I've got nothing to offer, but I'm in if there's a roffle / crowdfund.

Me too

Unfortunately all my cars are dreadful and/or broken and/or shameful to be seen in.  Therefore, if there's a pot for throwing cash in, shout up and I'll stick some in it.

No Audis older than late 90s at the scrapyard, sad.

It was good to see a cut 'n' shut donor car however. 98eb64c89c3721eac3c7a23d0d957a6f.jpg

There's a chap on the Volvo forum giving a V40 away for free. All he wants is 40 quid for the three quarters of a tank of juice that's in it. I think it's an 02 plate and has mot until Jan. If interested I'll pm the member.

Hi

Looks like I need to make thing happen. The one thing I forgot is just how much easier Emma would find an automatic, which sort of rules out the Audi 80 I have coming available.

Does anyone have anything relatively appealing in auto flavour available on the same terms?

That is class, they have just cut through the carpet as well. Is that SCB?
