I like that purple. I know it's not a BL shade but hey, it's a seventies motor so purple seems apt to me.

In fact, I have seen that colour on a BL product before....

So get some silver paint out and look up the Vulgalour family crest!!

Black Tulip was (is) a lovely dark purple that looked best with red seats. I had a Marina Coupe 1300 in 1983 that colour, KPB905K.

Beige pinstripe as a little nod towards "Autoshite". Nice touch

I may have mentioned that a few times, yes.  Ankor Wax is the short term solution.  It's staying purple.  It's staying looking like it does as much as possible and I'm making no attempt to hide the repairs done.

I remember watching an episode of Grand Designs many years ago. It was the conversion of an old yellow sandstone church. The sandstone had weathered and blackened over the years. There were bits of the sandstone that needed replaced. This brand new sandstone obviously stuck out in contrast to the old stuff. Once added it didn't get fake weathered on the basis that being able to see the old and new told the story of the building as you looked at it.

Think that works here. The church looked the better for it.

Keep up the good work.

Little bit of a set back today in that I got a couple of spots of weld down and then the gas ran out.

Isn't that welding wire the equivalent of painting a Rolls with a Poundland aerosol and a shaking hand?

Strewth Angyl, this is serious progress, we are all in awe of how quick you have cracked on

Next week on "Vulg's old Motors", Angyl turns his hand to making headlamp bowls out of sandstone, and refuses to paint them once fitted.

Next week on "Vulg's old Motors", with a twist on irony, Angyl turns his hand to making headlamp bowls out of a modern washing machine, and refuses to paint them once fitted.

I'm confused too.

Is it "Ann-Jill" ? Or "Ann-Gill" or "Angle"? or "Angel"?

Sorry, I realise you have probably spent half your life explaining that.

Hey, this is the internet. People don't have real names.

That's true, Kim Kardashians real name is Sharon Purves and she grew up in Mansfield

It's the same as Angel, just spelled stupidly.  Most shorten it to Ange or Aynge, like if you were shortening Angela.  I've noticed that French, Spanish and Indian folk have no difficulty getting it right on the first attempt.

Thinking about it more, I suspect the master clutch IS jammed as the "solid thump" at the end of its short travel would be the lever hitting the seized cup at the end of the spring.

Similar to how the slave cylinder seized.

Rebuild kit is about a fiver, replacement cylinder is £45-100.  Let's hope we can free it off and rebuild it.

Angyl pop-rivits a stainless plate onto a non stressed corner of something... and refuses to paint, claiming 'it won't rust!'

@vulg - Soz if you covered this in an earlier Q and A, but is gas mig what you are doing all the welding with, or do you have oxy acetylene/tig/stick at your disposal too?

If you HAVE only used mig... double plus extra respec.... etc. etc.

Yup, just normal gas mig on this, no super duper fancy stuff.

After the speed you whipped out all the old metal it should be pronounced Angyl-Grinder.

You can't call me that unless I appear in educational adult videos.  Which I don't.
