worst reg i ever had to put up with was JAG 1 on a marina estate belonging to the owner of our electrical company...he owned an XK140 and the plate was just stuck on one of the company hacks until his car was ready...every day you would get kamikaze xj drivers cutting in front of you pulling up to a halt wanting to buy the plate...i was glad when they gave me a van instead...

i still have my own private plate on retention... H1 3NUF that i had on my old frontera...

ive kept it for when i finally buy a delica...want the L300 shape though...

On that vein there's a Scenic near me with the reg SH14 YTE. I suspect it's just by chance rather than being personalised.

Saw a rather excellent one yesterday - a Ford Galaxy belonging to a mobile dog grooming service. The reg? K9 DOG.

There's one running round here that spells EXORCIST I just can't remember what the actual plate is! I'm so bloody senile! :(  It used to be on a Rangey but the last time I saw it it was on a shitty old Ford of some description.

Torbay seems to be second only to that there London for private plates, every one and his dog has got one.... even me!

I recently saw a BMW 3 series with the number DR 60 POO , the driver was of Asian appearence ,so using my racial profiling prejudices I presume he is some sort of gastro specialist. It could of course be a coincidence and just be the number the car was issued with by DVLA and the driver not a medical proffesional at all.

I saw a Buxton-assigned PO van today which had the vehicle number (not plate) BUX10. Made me laugh - bet that'd be a pricey plate.

Also, a Nissan GT-R with D47SUN. Top Gear viewer?

My parents owned a red mark 2 golf 1.6tdi, with the licence plate "j261 kkk".... Used to get keyed regulary.

Saw NO 5 on the back of a black hybrid-powered Transit on Monday. Couldn't work out why you would spend that much on the plate, but when I got up alongside I could see it was the Chanel van. Great touch.

A Citroen Xsara on Halfords trims is the ideal candidate for a four digit number plate, in this case GY11

If ever a plate tells a story I have to wonder at this one.  There's no stupid parking schemes to warrant a switching of plate as in The South.  It's not an affluent area but it's probably not a cheap plate to have.  Private plates are popular up here but they're normally things that don't quite spell what they're supposed to or Irish.

In an almost empty street, why park half on the pavement?

Followed a Honda Jazz earlier with the presumably very expensive plate 'V62'

Wonder what the story is with that?

The other side might have been full of cars when he parked up.

The local taxi drivers don't take as much care as they should and normally the streets are packed both sides.  Anything wider than a Xantia tends to have to put at least the width of a tyre on the pavement to be out of the way.

I saw a Ford Focus today with the plate 76049.

How do you explain that?

I also saw a VW Amarok with a plate that made me want to question the owner, I wanted to know how he felt about old Rovers.

Did he love them, like them, hate them or just feel...  indifferent.

The plate?

It was  P6 MEH.
