Kowalski Posted August 9, 2020 Posted August 9, 2020 Great thread, I'm all for keeping cars on the road no matter what. I would far rather see some old car cobbled together in some third world country, using corrugated roofing sheets and home made brake fluid than see trailer queens at pebble beach. I think a separate chassis car even if the non structural bits are full of wob , driven gently for very few miles a year will be far,far safer than some PCPd to the eyeballs idiot rushing about the place, probably without an mot as it will be too new to have it's first one... Go Eddie, ignore the haterz, crack on, summers nearly over. All I would add is: cherry bombs paulplom, mitsisigma01, Royale80 and 2 others 4 1
eddyramrod Posted August 9, 2020 Author Posted August 9, 2020 Morecambe, this morning... A mere 50 miles each way. All nuns and all kittens within a six-foot radius survived unscathed. RichardK, PhilA, Dick Cheeseburger and 38 others 37 4

That's the famous art-deco Midland Hotel, seen in at least one episode of Poirot; it's where the American autos and hot rods assemble this time every month, virus permitting. That is the building that inspired my friend to build his new house in the Deco style near Laurencekirk. He has sold it now, but a superb house which made a great backdrop to my Royce captain_70s, Tickman, Amishtat and 28 others 31

I'm sorry, I didn't realise it was you, I just caught up with some of your other postings. Welcome aboard, glad you're enjoying us!

Further down the prom, there's a 1950s coffee shop. It's got the same decor and furniture it's had for 60 plus years. Wait. eddyramrod Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 I took it out this morning too, looking for some suitably 1980s-Chicago type backdrops... I think it looks right at home! worldofceri, Dick Cheeseburger, CreepingJesus and 23 others 25 1

Yup, redbrick is much more Chicago, but it's too clean. If they hadn't taken such an effort to clean Manchester, you'd get some excellent* shots down that way. eddyramrod and Fumbler 2
Dan_ZTT Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 Just caught up on this after ages. Eddy you're doing an awesome job, keep up the good work. I reckon by the time Huggy turns 50 I'll have a bit more space and cash, if he ever needs a new home... eddyramrod 1
puddlethumper Posted August 19, 2020 Posted August 19, 2020 I've just caught up as well. Lookin good Eddy. eddyramrod 1
PhilA Posted September 2, 2020 Posted September 2, 2020 I do hope you've been driving around to music like this, haven't heard what's going on in a while... Phil Dan_ZTT, eddyramrod, BlankFrank and 3 others 6
eddyramrod Posted September 3, 2020 Author Posted September 3, 2020 Oh that couldn't be much more 1973, could it! Thanks Phil, I didn't know about that one. What's been going on? Precisely nothing! Huggy hasn't been out since I went backdrop-hunting, simply because I've got nowhere to go. I moved him from the back alley to the front street, and back, yesterday while the window fitters were here, and I'll do the same again today, but that doesn't really count. The good news is, the trunk is water-resistant now. We've had plenty of rain to test it! As for the soundtrack when I'm driving... I don't often use the radio, and almost never the 8-track; I just open a window and listen to the V8! Seriously! Since I got the broken silencer replaced with a length of plain stainless pipe, it's added a lovely bass note to the rumble. But again, with nowhere to go, the poor car spends most of its time as a street ornament, which is no life for a car. It's a shame. LightBulbFun, danthecapriman, RichardK and 3 others 6

eddyramrod Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 Later has arrived and here are some pics... Gloriously patinated Vette greeted me on arrival; he was first there. Diecast Shoppe open for business! In the end I sold two. I'll update that thread shortly. These two had a soundoff. You can imagine! White one is a 350 Chevy, purple is a 4.3 Rover, and then some. How often will you see TWO 1953 Bel Airs together? A veritable herd of Mustangs! danthecapriman, JeeExEll, chodweaver and 14 others 17
eddyramrod Posted September 6, 2020 Author Posted September 6, 2020 Oh and I treated Huggy to some new wipers yesterday. No pics, you all know what a wiper looks like! Just as well I did, as we did get showered on a bit today; not much though. Also, when I got home, I got a phone call from an old friend, who might come next week! paulplom, danthecapriman and LightBulbFun 3
