Also, it's in a photo rather than typed out, so it's not like any web bots or crawlers can identify it.

2/10 risk.  More dangerous to drive a Triumph Acclaim with no structural integrity to speak of.

New colour looks good, bit of urethane wave that'll polish out but doubt it'll matter on this ðŸ˜‚

Urethane paint ftw, certainly hugely more durable than an acrylic spray can, my efforts with those years ago have been like scratch card windows haha

A wee sneak peek o' yer flaps! I'm already nursing a semi from the primer pictures and now you tease us with this. There's going to be an enormous yoghurt truck crash when you do the big reveal in full colour.......

That's a much nicer blue than it wore before, going to look super when you've burned through your supply of elbow grease.

You guys are absolute miracle creators.

If I had a spare* DeLorean, I'd be sending you and the ginger fella back to sort Brexit and Covid. I reckon you'd have them done and dusted by tea time.

*I don't have any DeLoreans.

The turnaround on this car in such a short time is jaw droppingly awesome. The colour is a great choice as well.

Leave them!  Blue everything FTW.

This has been done stunningly quickly and really very well indeed.   Have the doors been done off the car?

Posted

The doors are being done off the car so I can paint the rear of them. When we took them off we found holes so we just sprayed the shell and I'll finish the doors when the car is polished.

Outstanding work gents!! I am in awe of the chutzpah it takes to do this! You have it in spades!

Fantastic job.

When can you start my Toledo!

Steady on, I think he'd prefer to  sort out my Princess first, surely!  Conveniently located at the opposite end of the country, too.

Looking superb, the level of output on this thread is staggering,

That's straight from the gun, before it'd even tacked off. I haven't seen it since it's started to be polished 'cause I fucked off to my parent's place for Christmas...

I also broke in @blackboilersuit's Saab...

It celebrated by shitting it's headlight levelling system.

Also, contents of mystery box have been revealed:

Mega, more tools are always required, my socket set is from 1982 and has several missing/broken components at this point...

I've not been about much recently due to being at the folk's place with their dial-up speed internet and then immediately developing toothache which is sapping any and all desire to do anything except die...

That is almost certainly the rear suspension height detectors (essentially linear variable resistors) having worn out at normal ride height.  With a paving slab in the boot (or a box of tools, your choice!) the ride height will be altered, and the system will be fine.

Great work on the Acclaim! Can't wait to see the pictures of it all complete and back on the road!

Or, as a differential diagnosis shitey salty water has permeated either the connector plug where the loom connects to the unit or the device itself

I have to say I've not followed this thread for a while, and I think last time I read it I couldn't see a happy ending for the Dolly or Acclaim. But what an EPIC turnaround! Really enjoyable reading over the last hour (when I probably should be welding up my own BX, which is slightly ironic...) Keep up the great work both of you!

What paint did you use? Also do you need full suits with air fed respirators and the like for it? 2K paint scares me.

2K direct gloss on this one but I prefer base and clear, I've always used Gerson masks when spraying 2K at home and a half mask in work with no issues. I get my lungs tested once every 6 months as painters are usually in for copd or asthma ðŸ˜‚

It's not perfect by any means but it's better than what drove in.
