Have you sold it, or just forgotten where you have left it?

Never owned this one, I worked for a Volvo dealer on their used site and part of my deal was I would get a new Volvo company car. Our overall boss decided to cut back on new Volvo company cars and as I was on a separate site I did not need one. My direct boss could not believe that after just a few months they took my new car away and told him to provide me with a used car. He could not do anything about the decision to take my new Volvo, but as compensation said I could drive and take home anything on the used site! I keep getting the AX GT out for another go.

Saw this today as I gave 6C a run over there to collect the other AX.

It is an unreasonably clean little car...and I very much look forward to getting a shot hopefully!

Do wonder if the big difference in power between the 11 and 13 isn't likely to be horsepower so much as torque.  That can make a massive difference in driveability - not that the 1.1 version here felt wanting for more power.

That's the difference between the 1.6 carb and 1.7i Lada Nivas.  The 1.6 with the carb actually has more power according to the spec sheets - but the 1.7i has about a third more torque, so feels vastly more nippy in the real world.

Said it before, but it's worth repeating...quite sad I don't have more room as I'd really love the little 1.1 AX as a local runaround.  For all its cosmetic challenges it's such a happy little thing to drive.  I reckon it's a car which will find a buyer the moment it gets as far as a test drive.

A quick look up reveals

AX11 carb - 55 bhp, 64Ib ft @ 3200 rpm

AX11 inj - 60 bhp, 65 Ib ft @ 3800 rpm

AX14 TRS - 70 bhp, 78 Ib ft @ 3200 rpm

AX14 GT - 85 bhp, 84 Ib ft @ 4000 rpm

Driving my AX11 carb after owning an AX11 inj feels about the same.

Emergency clear out of the lay-bye opposite our house due to hedge trimming.

I have learnt that they will cut close to the cars and then cover them in hedge trimmings. Also if I stop them cutting the hedge where we park, then in the spring the hedge will grow out and scratch the cars.

When the council do that around here they will actually reach the boom over the top of parked cars to get to the hedge behind it...which always struck me as seeming a bit ridiculous given the amount of bits of tree and rubbish which wind up flying around everywhere.

when are the FoD collective being invited to the spice hut for scraninngtons :D

It is a good point. The Spice Hut has a good car park and if they were inclined to support it, it would make a decent group outing - 'Cars & Curry'. There is a decent hand car wash next door as well...

I have never been to the Spice Hut myself, is it any good apart from a photo location?

Sorry to partly thread hijack, but with invacars @LightBulbFun @Mrs6C are there any parts bincomponents from other manufacturers used or is it all bespoke stuff? I’m always trying to Place components when I see a pic.

To quote @Zelandeth :)

Quote

The whole car is essentially 400kgs of bits out of a whole plethora of parts bins from around the world flying in close formation.

The Model 70 is about as close as you can get to an entire car built out of parts bin stuff I imagine! (although Bond equipes get even their chassis from "the parts bin" so they might win there!)

Main body, chassis and gearbox is bespoke, but otherwise its all parts bin stuff, switches lights* stalks all BL/Lucas stuff, engine is 493cc Steyr puch unit, brakes are 7 inch girling, wheels are 10 inch Mini items (not sure where the 12 inch wheels come from, just that they where used on previous invalid vehicles before the Model 70) rear suspension is fiat 500 based (but with Spax adjustable shocks!), window catches are Mk1 Mini/land rover, transmission is from salsbury, door handles are morris minor traveller rear door handles, rear engine cover/front service hatch hinges are hillman imp (which people tend to always point out, and then tell you your windscreen wiper switch is upside down!)

you get the idea :) (front suspension could be described as bespoke, but its put together using parts bin stuff mostly IIRC)

if theres anything specific your wondering about feel free to ask!

*the rear lights while parts bin I THINK, where as far as I can track down first used on the Model 70, and then propagated out to various reliants and what have you

Bit much for one wheel trim but it's on eBay.

It it is a common pattern so I am sure in the summer I can pick one up for a fraction of that, but only really need the fitting ring as I have the cover.

you know from some angles with the light in a certain direction it looks like the rear door is a different colour on the wagon! ?

This is because it is, the door came off an 03 car and they had changed the shade silver by then. There is also a crease in the front door from a separate hit.

I bought it from breadvan with minor damage to the front wing and then it has been hit twice while parked, once firmly in the rear door!
