Fumbler Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 It was an Grate Day at the FoD. None of my pictures are in any way as good as @Crackers' but I'll post a few. GM Corner The inaugural rail proving run Oh no! A derailment. The derailment assessment team was assembled The cleanest Acclaim I've ever seen- @GoGently is taking very good care of it The farmer goes shopping The farmer tries to scare off a French interloper ...and fails. This was probably the closest we got to the Ami. "High speed tractor" it definitely was! Dyslexic Viking, bobdisk, wuvvum and 7 others 10
Crackers Posted June 5, 2022 Posted June 5, 2022 How many Shiters does it take to changefix a lightbulbhorn fuse? Well you need one to poke and prod the wiring. One to read the manual... It's no hope guvnor, it doesn't say so in here. One to operate the horn switch. And then somehow, you add 1+1+1 and end up with eight! AnthonyG, MondeoBlues, Mrs6C and 10 others 6 1 6

The seats offer absolutely no vertical or lateral support and various bits of the interior poke and prod you in corners. Pretty much anything short of an actual ironing board would be more comfortable. Now there's the weird thing. I may* be odd, but I don't actually find it that bad! It's a bit more upright than I'd like for relaxing travelling, and a touch more space would be welcome - but it's strangely appealing. The soundproofing makes a difference, but I don't think the parabolic springs increase the comfort levels significantly over un-seized originals.

It might be that we have seized rear leafs, but if you hit a pothole or a dip/ramp in the surface it is pretty rough. Most of the problem is that I have quite significant tension in my upper back and shoulders, and holding myself upright in the seat really makes it flare up after an hour or so as the seat back only reaches to just below my shoulders. We also don't have inertia reels (yet), just fixed belts, so we lose the slight bit of cornering support you get from a 3 pointer.

Although the seats do seem different on mine (more sculpted), although I would doubt enough to make anything other than a cosmetic difference. Crackers 1

" (although I will admit the Ami sounds very nice when you drop it from 4th to 3rd and mash you foot to the floor) and it was very awesome to have a go on the FoD Railway and electric locomotive I was not sure what to expect, but whatever i was expecting, it was far better then those expectations, I really look forward to when the line is completed and we get a full train on the go once agan many thanks to all who came and who put up with me LOL If you have an interest in train things large and small, this is a channel worth a look... https://youtube.com/c/LawriesMechanicalMarvels Sorry I couldn't be there, but all four of us are now positive and it's royally kicking my behind so far. beko1987 Posted June 6, 2022 Posted June 6, 2022 And with a practical head on @Six-cylinder, now the container is spotless*, what are the next steps with it? I'll bring some G101 and many cloths and get the roof wiped down but bar a few cobwebs at the end the worst is out. Could come a bit prepared and tooled up next time if we have a plan, did you say you had racking it just needed cutting down to fit?
Six-cylinder Posted June 6, 2022 Author Posted June 6, 2022 Thanks for all your prep work in the container. The next step is to cut down the shelving uprights so they fit. The other thing I would like to do next time is empty and clean the Vauxhall Royal. Also to see if we can start it. I will then decide if I am going to get it back on the road myself or sell it on. How slow did you have to have the shutter speed for that picture!! Measureable in weeks I assume? (actually, with a complete lack of EXIF data, I'm going to guess at 1/10 or maybe even a bit slower. And with the ISO on about 2 and the apeture on about f/50 to compensate for ALL THE LIGHT getting to the sensor.) AnnoyingPentium, mat_the_cat and LightBulbFun 3
Six-cylinder Posted June 7, 2022 Author Posted June 7, 2022 The pretty metal valve caps on the Alfa 156 had bonded to the valve threads and trying to get them off I twisted the centre out of a valve. I booked it with a local tyre centre to have 4 new valves and gingerly drove it there not knowing how much pressure was in the tyres. He then pointed out 3 were at the end of their lives and the forth was half worn and old. The result is 4 new Matadors as that was all he had in stock. I have now bought a big bag of plastic valve caps! Mrs6C, AnnoyingPentium, beko1987 and 3 others 5 1

Actually, not too slow. 1/40, F20, ISO 100. It doesn't take much to get that much blur on any moving object, however a faster movement or slower shutter speed will obviously give you a much better blur on the background. This was 1/25 on a 55mph vehicle and you can see the difference in the background. AnnoyingPentium 1

beko1987 Posted June 7, 2022 Posted June 7, 2022 How they actually did it was we moved a shit load of cars to completely clear out the long straight of the FoD. Then slowsilver drove the lawnmower with the camera on it at top speed and they timed the motion blur from that to coincide with when lbf rolled along into the shot. Worked on the 3rd try Was quite a spectacle. Then we had to move all the bloody cars back 😡 brownnova, Snake Charmer and Mrs6C 3
