Glad to see you back Breadvan, I do like the Lotus, but I do find the dash on these somewhat unpleasant.

Nothing much changes here, I've got another Lancia & Daihatsu to collect.

I can haz see pixurz now.

I'm in "what, no black and red S&M porn interior?" shocker.

The whole contraption is delightfully awful, though.

Is an Elite not more Breadvanny? The Éclat is very rakish.

Am I imagining it ,or was there a whole range of Eltes and Eclats, all with 50- numbers?

I briefly owned a red S reg Éclat, in a part ex deal. I drove it once and the windscreen trim came adrift, scratched the roof and got run over by my mate in,ironically ,a JPS 3.0 Crapi.

Yey welcome back my local shiter! The XM has gone and been replaced with a tree hugging slightly dented zx, that's about all in Thame! The local bikers will be happy too as the meriva isn't dropping oil everywhere either now!

Nice to see a black Lotus that isn't a fag-packet special.

I am glad it isn't an Elite as sight of one of those always gets me straight to ebay.

Fabulous. I drove an Elite at some point. A really nice car, with that marvellous sense of impending doom hanging around it.

If you're planning on selling that at any point you'll need much lighter loafers.

What a comeback-that car must look amazing in a station car park full of rows and rows of grey Germans.

Has it been the same old shiz around here? That green Peugeot still for sale?

It has been the usual goings on G, with a few notable exceptions, off the top of my head, Lord Sterling is now in a Merc, Wuvvum has got a Sherpa Koop and Panhard has a bloody Rolls Royce.

Here it is at the staish with the grey (non) German wankerwagens.

NB it IS a fag packet spesh, or at east Ron Dealer has made it so.

Elite too shonky even for me, and there are fook NONE series 2s around.  Series 1s had a non galvanised chassis with a big funnel marked "rain come in here" on it, the whole thing wrapped in extra soaky uppy sponge.  Hence  not many Series 1s either.

A big welcome back too :-D

Thank shite you're back, counselor - I lay the blame for my recent velocity-related collar tug entirely on the temporary absence of the AS legal aid department  ;)

BTW... red Beta koop, VLX320X: is/was that yours?  There's a pic of it in the new C&SC, p164.

Phwoar X 1000! I had an early Excel until this summer. Sold it as it needed engine out. The Elite/Eclat is somewhat more 'challenging'.

Lotus Éclat. My word. I do love these. They don't look like an actual car - more like a Future-Car, made for a mid budget 'Seventies TV series set in the year 2001.

Slightly off topic - about ten years ago I was driving in snow early one morning when I slithered down a slippery hill in my XJ40, just about stopping before the T- junction at the end. The lass in front of me in some VW or other was less lucky and ploughed on into the road, hitting a Lotus Excel with a big bang.

Nothing particularly memorable, except that the driver of the Excel looked like some libertine driving home after a night of fun in a bordello. He had a Bandito moustache, Aviators and a fur coat: quite a look!

Breadvan welcome back, the trouble is without your guidance the same has happened to me as Lord Sterling, I now also have a Mercedes W124 Estate!!!!
