Thanks @LightBulbFun an absolutely fascinating subject.

So an IVA circumvents the emissions issue? Or are they obligated to apply individual mitigation to the vehicle? Costly.

I drive a 60 Series which is well exempt on account of its age...43. 😂

Yeah, IVA circumvents that but is still a pain in the arse. When I brought in my 6 year old vw transporter from Australia it still had to go through an IVA and they even managed to fail it despite being practically identical to a European spec.

Bonus is the van is exempt from a lot of ULEZ nonsense as the emissions data is not available.

At one time my addiction to mk2 cavaliers meant I was obsessed by them.

It's an MG5. Starting at £30,990 sterling bahts. The nearest dealer to Rhyll is at Conwy, to Phuket is in Phuket rush to 8 Moo1 Thep Krasatti rd., Thep Krasatti sub-district, Thalang District, Phuket 83110, now.

To be fair the mk4 astra shows its roots back to the mk2 cavalier.  When my son had one, he described it as a mk4 cavalier.  Given that he'd learnt to drive in a mk3 cavalier and was brought home from the maternity ward in a mk2 cavalier he was uniquely positioned to understand the evolution phases.  He and his wife now own 2 mazdas because AVAS... right ?  He even convinced my wife to px her Astra J for a mazda2.  (Which is a surprisingly nice car to drive)

I've never seen one in the UK.

Yesterday, I saw, but did not photo,  what I thought was a BMW Z4 but turned out to be a sleek electric 2 seat convertible with an MG badge.  From what I've seen over here, with Toyota, MG, Mazda, Suzuki, Ora, and BYD brands making up 98% of cars, the European and USA brands are screwed.  (Probably)

There are quite a few MG5's in the UK, but, at a glance they look very much like a Passat so can go under the radar a bit. MG is a big brand in Thailand where they have a factory which produces MG4's and battery packs.

I saw what can best be described  as looking  like a 1980s Toyota Landcruiser on a 74 plate today. Couldn't get close enough to see what it actually was.

Am holidaying in Tenerife and having a crafty cig I come across this parked in the foyer. A brand I've never heard of, possibly Chinese a DR??IMG_20250129_231840669.thumb.jpg.f8330e98328d253b0d0de440da6e66df.jpgIMG_20250129_231936503.thumb.jpg.6e0cd7b9de41f3eb2ca70fa7a72716f4.jpg

I think officially they count as Italian cars.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DR_Automobiles

I have only seen one in Spain. But I cannot find any dealers. I think they do not have any here.

New one on me but a Simca SUMB.

When travelling through France I saw two cabs sitting on the ground in a sort of junk field.  I wondered what they were.

Cheers I've just read that, this says 4.0 on the back, I don't think it refers to engine size. But the 4.0 is not mentioned on wiki. Must be a new model.

2017-2019 when you could lease a 180bhp AWD automatic euro 6 pickup with nice handling and only £1000 deposit £199/month 😭

I miss it. I wanted to keep it for long-term, buying back at the end of the lease, but "life". Only did 8,000 miles but I'd got a 40K contract (so not £199/month) - month after I picked it up I started at Parkers and had to drive test cars 😂

French military 4x4 with coil springs and portal axles powered by a Ford-derived 110HP V8 flathead engine of 4.2 litres.

Plenty about in France if you fancy one - not expensive. Max speed about 55mph.
