I wonder if it might be one with a 135 (ex-MG TF) 1.8 k-series in it. Same bhp as the T-series, about half the engine weight and 100% more oiltightness.

There's no way those wheels are right, they've got to be off a 111i, they look like trolley castors.  Seems to be running comically oversized tyres as well.

the lad selling the green 214 seems extremely thick, making him very difficult to deal with. After a couple of days I got an ebay notification thing through saying he wanted to cancel the sale. I asked him why he was doing that - he didnt answer, so i turned down the request. Then he sent me a message saying 'Its on Gumtree & swapz' - I dont even know why he was telling me this. I asked him again why he wanted to cancel the sale and after a couple more days he replied with 'I want to cancel the order' - helpful. Now i see he's relisted it on eBay!!! I told him before i bid that I could not collect straight away but he seems to have decided to relist it anyway. I'm tempted to bid on it again (he's got another bidder this time). I should be back in the UK later this week so if I can keep the flippin game going long enough I should be able to go up and collect it from manchester.

Have you "another" account ( or the current Ms Bo11?) Use that - then when you win it with account 2 not only can you neg him with account 1 but frighten the life out of him by threatening to sue for the cost of an equal car him for non-completion of the contract.

Perhaps Im twisted, or more likely its been a long night shift and Im pissed off, but thats what I would be tempted to do.

Blimey, he sounds like a proper cabbage, even by eBay standards. Dealing with folks like that seems too much like hard work to me.

I emailed him saying 'Oi! Why are you readvertising this!!!' and would you believe it he pulled the ad and told me to come and collect it.

 

Then a day later I got a message off him saying he'd been offered an iPhone5 for it and could we cancel the deal. I didnt reply then a couple of hours later got another message saying 'Forget that previous message' :-D

 

Anyway I'm back in the UK now so should be able to sort something in the next few days.

 

In other news the V5 has come through for the J-reg so I have stopped worrying about it being dodgy.

I don't reckon you'll have a single problem with a seller that pulls an advert three times, tries to gazump you with a mobile phone offer, and generally seems like he doesn't understand how normal people behave.

 

If - IF - you ever get this car, I reckon you'll find some bizarre stuff in it. Including but not limited to needles, letters from the police, a length of rope, a teaspoon and loads of smashed security tags from TK Maxx

I would knock him down to an iPhone 3 (only 8 gig mind )and after much bartering throw in broken PS3 and a Betamax video player.

You could always go round the sellers with a boot full of dodgy broken obsolete electrical items and ask what he's willing to go up to.

It's mad that a decent little low mileage car with a few years use in it is so worthless at least old Rovers can't go down in value any more than that and I can't see any deprecation in the old girl.

 

It looks like the kind of car that upto about 3/4 years ago was most probably some elderly owners pride and joy and was maintained regardless of cost and it's good to see it's going to a good home again.

 

It doesn't look like its parked up in the Bronx so my guess is it's a thick youngster who's a sandwich short of a picnic and maybe it was his grandfathers pride and joy and he can't afford the insurance or he thinks that because it's not a lowered VAG or Corsa it has no value.

Even if it is a kettle and completely knackered you can't really lose as it's an abundance of spares if nothing else and the interior looks in great order.
