Very nice, I think I read that the guy who designed the Fireblade said the 954 was his favourite one.

I'm looking to get a bike again, not had one for a while. Due to some quirk of the insurance algorithm I can insure an early 90s 600 for £85 a year even though I have 6 points and a claim.

Anyone got anything suitable for sale? Needs to be 95 or earlier, anything later is much more expensive to insure. I guess 30 years old hits some "classic" category.

Thinking a ZZR600 or a CBR600.

Either of those would be a good choice. Might be worth a post on the for sale section as 'Wanted'.

I think that mechanically, they're a Transalp with the DCT from the NC750.

Almost - mechanically they’re an NC750 with DCT.        (Turning pedant-mode off now!)

Noo project! Told ya I'd get one..

Been laid up and no MOT. New battery, fresh fuel and vroom! Only thing i can find is a non working fuel gauge and non working front sidelight (fixed).

Service then an MOT.

That blue Honda would get my vote.  The riding position, crash bars, fairing and top box/panniers look ideal for the sort of riding you do, netty.

Had a "C3" before, which i stuffed into a Polo in Germany, this is a "D5" - interested if there will be much difference. Absolutely loved my last one

My last one was a D6

I only sold it as I wanted to start track days, was a fantastic thing, my earlier c2 was restricted until I fitted carb tops from a ZX9R.

@hairnetfor me, it's the Suzuki all day long, the Hornet is an odd riding position.. I'm 5'8" and was cramped on it.

The little 500 Honda engine is a great little workhorse but seriously uninspiring.

I love Suzuki, they always seem to be greater than the sum of their parts.

depending on what happens tomorrow he might get a phone call as its grand less than the one up there

if i bought the bits to match id have change from 300 quid - no need for the bag with a honking great box on it

@Sham 60k on a 13 reg one and im 6ft

Like I said, it's odd. My son is taller than me and can get comfy on one and yet I can't. I can be comfy on smaller, or larger machines - but not a Hornet for some reason.

looking for bikes to perv at buy

will going to denbigh tomorrow to look at the three i posted most likely only look at the gsx and the honda cl tho

the place near queensferry that does voge stuff will likely be swerved as i found out the wet weight of it 😮

but CL500

been looking today and while i missed a 26 plate with 124 miles on it for barg i missed it as someone put a deposit on it

but saw three others today

one has 22k on it (23 plate) and is only 200 quid less than at least 4 other with less than 10k - i know from experience you can triple that without issues so its not cheap enough its also 150 miles away

one has 2.2k but its in plymouth

one has 117 miles on it (!) but its in maidstone (fuck dartford)

and the kicker

theres one in elgin - with 6 miiles on it !!!!!11111one!!!!!11111111

but right after i saw the elgin i saw one at flitwick mc in beds - they used to do bmw and yamaha but just do used now 8k miles for 3.5k

or one in macclesfield at superbike factory (ffs) but its up eh road @320touring

flitwick or macc hmmmm

still gonna wales in case i decide i like the suzuki

1992 CBR600F2.

Pros:

Not bad cosmetic condition considering

Starts and seems to run OK

2nd set of fairings that should get me a chunk of my money back

Cons:

No brakes

No battery

No number plate

No key

No logbook

(Not stolen tho)

Had a go at replacing the brake fluid and bleeding the brakes but the fronts aren't building pressure at all. Dunno if lots of air trapped somewhere, or maybe the calipers are seized.

FN actually, 1992 J plate.

Managed to bleed up the front brake, it's not the best as I can't find my one good 8mm spanner so didn't want to mess about with it too long and round off the nipples with my open ended monkey metal effort.

Rear, nipple snapped off, luckily there was another caliper in the included spares pile.

Put the other caliper on but no fluid is coming out the rear so think I need a master cylinder or rebuild kit.

Also took off the top yoke and ignition switch ready for when the new one comes.

Get some big disposable syringes and back feed the brakes, and clear tubing. Push new fluid out and up into the reservoir. It’s how I’ve been bleeding brakes since seeing a revzilla youtue vid. It’s SO much more reliable at getting good solid brake feel.

Just had a gsx1100et pop up on marketplace, son and I already have sufficient projects, so now son has a gsx1100et project as well.

Been off the road for at least 10 years

Stage 1, give it a bubble bath to see what we are working with

Not too bad under the grime, forks and shocks rotten but good forks came with it, engine has some stuck valves and will need a top end refresh, surface corrosion not too bad, frame has been powder coated and looks in good condition

went to denbigh

8s was sold (disapoint @Rustybullethole)

had a look at their expensive cl500 but couldnt sit on it as it crammed in on a row

500x didnt see it so must be gone

visited @Cavcraftland in shotton to see a voge r625 (cb500f alike)

slightly heavier but mostly same shape but soon as sat on it bars too low @Jerzy Woking

and pegs too far back and up

place in flitwick will be rang tomorrow - shotton place also had new 8s for 6699 - lots of places

- (3 up here within 20 miles) have grey new ones for 6499 but have decided the more i look at them theyre too wide and too sporty

a and d pushed in a 26 plate hornet 750 with 400 miles on it as i walked out

guy said fella buy bikes rides them a bit them finds something else to buy and sells it

that would likely be 7k - dont wanna pay that - wait for them to dip below 5 - shame the one in dudley went - gorilla would be gone

Flitwick Motorcycles are a Yamaha dealer, have been for years, my first visit would have been in 81 on my moped.  They use to do Triumph too, never known them do anything with BMWs. Never even seen a SH for sale in there, like a lot of dealers I think they just trade them out rather than risk selling them and having to warranty them.  They are generally well respected although not my favorite dealer.  I get parts from them when I need anything for my Tenere’s.
Aparently the Triumph bosses walked in one day and basically said they’d need to dump Yamaha to carry on selling Triumphs, but instead ended up leaving losing them as a Triumph dealer.  Stupid Triumph.
They’re a five min walk from my house.
