one for the late registration madness thread?!

wonder what the hell its about

comes back as a "Volkswagen camper van" and its fuel as "GAS BI-FUEL" ...

(down as 2011 for both the date of registration and year of mfg, so that explains the 61 plate at least...)

no import marker either

I think these were built in Brazil until about 2013, and then brought new into Britain, so the registration year makes sense. One of the camper specialists was selling them.

oh yeah completely forgot about those! neat that someone was importing them new, reminds me of the Lada Niva in that regard

im curious how they got it type approved for over here! (imports under 10 years old need some sort of type approval/SVA IIRC)

(wikipedia says they ran on both Petrol and ethanol so that explains the bi fuel thing)

very neat!

I love cases like this of vehicles that have been in production unchanged as little as possible for decades :)

sadly AFAIK the Lada Niva and that "bread loaf" Russian van whose name escapes me, are the only 2 vehicles like that, still in production?

(happy to be proven wrong tho!)

This is a bit special. Thanks to Mrs Yoss for this one.

It's a Robin 65. End of the line special run out edition. The 65 is for 65 years of Reliant motors. Funnily enough I'm currently reading a book on the history of Reliant and it mentions these. Along with the gold paint you had alloy wheels a snazzy red, white and grey leather interior, walnut dash and  'an individual plaque with the owners name engraved on it'. You don't even get that in a Rolls. It cost a full ten bags though which was considerably more than most four wheeled super minis at the time and still more than Dacia Sandero today!

...but only one wiper on the front!

As did all of them from the 1982 Rialto onwards. The Rialto had a spare wheel for the first time but the car still had to come in under 8cwt if it was to be able to be driven on a motorcycle licence which was one of its main selling points. One of the weight saving measures was the single wiper (I think the linkage between the two was probably heavier than the wiper itself).

Just had a poke about the station car park and it was devoid of shite, however there were some interesting moderns.

Lovely pair. I imagine the much older Merc will be way less trouble.

Probably the best colour combo on a 451 Smart and there’s not too many of these Infiniti’s about either.

PBK mobile and a lovely little Yaris that is there most days

The car isn’t my cup of cake but it is a top colour.

These are getting more and more attractive by the day. If it was a convertible in the nice dark green they do I’d have had a crisis.

Nothing special about this Mondeo other than the fact it is wearing the most gash wheel trims I’ve seen in ages.

Another 12" and she'd have taken up 4 spaces! Think I'd have let her off though.

That last picture? Sir Henry Royce shaking his head, whilst looking away.  You can only imagine his negative thoughts.

Unable to get a decent shot due to mountains of crap in the vicinity. Must be pretty thin on the ground now - this one is destined to be fragged due to battery borkage.  :(

Couple of rare spots this week, lovely RS2000 which sounded like it had a turbo lump in and a Chevrolet I've never seen before

Optimistically priced Escort with rubbish roof.

IMG_20200228_163804.thumb.jpg.f4fac5a191e8bdb397c0f33293b41531.jpg

It is low mileage and nice but £8k? I think not.

That a C on the plate BTW, not an E if anyone tries looking it up like I did.

There was an 07 2.2 Brera next to it with 75k, which was £5k too so I reckon the garage is probably quite optimistic in its pricing unless I'm out of touch.

First up, a modern*, who doesn't love a Kenari? Especially a local Kenari for local people from John Childs.

One was built in Hiroshima and one Kanagawa, but still, they speak the same language

A repeat, but seeing as I have joined the club. Note, like mine it is also from Sargeant and Collins. It wouldn't start when the lady returned to it, RAC man soon had it running :-)

Another repeat, but the patina on this is perfect from an AS perspective.

Buongiorno from an empty, stricken Roma. Your intrepid roving reporter has not let a bit of deadly virus stop him from papping a small selection of oddly appealing shite on the streets of the capital.
