It's also American.

Peak revs matter not at all. It's all about the lazy torque.

An engine builder who deals with American muscle cars will make a huge deal out of making an engine reliable at 6k rpm.

For Europeans, that's where the fun starts.

Most American engines are designed to be low revving.

Long distance highway travel with a V8 wailing away at 3500 rpm grates the nerves after a while so most are tuned for gobs of low end torque to allow highway travel at 70 under 2000, in a lot of cases under 1600 so the only way to gain enough flexibility is dynamic cam timing. Most don't bother and just make the engine slow and torquey.

Look at my tach. It goes up to 4000.  That's well into the red.

The dash lighting is marginally more effective than the headlights.

Trabant 601S.

I get the impression that there should maybe be a second lamp in there helping out based on the light distribution.

Brings back memories of when my Dad had one when I was a nipper. He Converted his estate into a 7 seater

Help yourselves to another night time pic of the Pontiac, this time in my ownership.

I quite like the dash on this one, it definitely gives me that warm, fuzzy feeling 😅
