This is fuppin beautiful and a mega bargain. I remember diving one of these 3 hours a day on the M25 for about 7 years. Always comfy and no trouble.

If I had any use for it whatsoever I'd have it. Sadly the fleet is maxed out so I do not.

For sale Audi 80 SE 1994 L reg 1.6 petrol in Indigo Blue Metallic.  This was my late fathers car I had considered keeping it but have now decided to sell it.  It was originally my car and I bought it in January 2009 and passed it on to my Dad in late 2010 prior to us it’s had three owners I think the first owner was Audi themselves as according to the service book they carried out the delivery inspection and their head office address is given, also I’ve noticed quite a few Audi 80s with  L***JRX number plates so probably a staff car or possibly a press one. It’s MOTd until 11th December 2015 and the mileage is 109552.  The mileage on the current MOT when it was carried out was 109345 so it hasn’t done a lot since then it also had no advisories.  The cam belt was changed at 99485.  The car is in good condition for it’s age but does have a few scratches on it (a lot of fine ones on the bonnet/boot) but these may polish out.  The interior is in excellent condition with no rips to the seats or damage, there is slight wear to the steering wheel, the radio has been disconnected but it can be reconnected and it then works. The car drives nicely and good tyres all round and stops and starts no problem. The original owner (Audi?) specified quite a few options, it has sports seats, sports steering wheel (possibly leather), alloy wheels (5), extra gauges, rear spoiler (rare) and I think the Sony Radio was an optional extra. The worst part of the car is that the lacquer has peeled off the rear wing on the passenger side and there is some smaller lacquer peel to the rear bumper.  This happened when we had a bad winter a couple of years ago and doesn’t seem to have got any worst.  It also needs an exhaust rubber in the centre as the rubber has split this means the exhaust slightly rattles normally when cornering but its not hanging down so you don’t notice.  But its an easy and cheap fix and doesn’t affect how it drives.

I have the handbooks/service books in the dealer wallet, the service book shows an Audi main dealer stamped service up to 56686.  There are three original keys with two dealer key fobs (Sinclair Audi) the number plates also have Sinclair Audi surrounds fitted and they are the correct original 90’s font.  I also have a folder of receipts for work carried out over the years, items bought and old MOT certificates.

Although my father wasn’t a car enthusiast he did believe in looking after his cars and always checked the fluids and had the car serviced if it needed anything he‘d get it done.  He also regularly washed it and took good care of it.  It would be nice to see it go to someone who would appreciate it.

This one he patiently waited till all Shite was out of sight, but there are still some nice roadsigns, double yellow lines and useful information painted on Hampshire:

(Magnified, one white piece o'Shite can just be discerned hiding to the right of the wierdly forever amber traffic light).

Again no Shite, but another Walls sign and extremely politically incorrect litter bin at the Paddling Pool & Palace Pier, Brighton, sent in 1963:

    Dear Frances,
We arrived OK on time. Showers on the way here last night but a terrific wind. There was supposed to be a pier-to-pier swim, but the sea was far too rough. How are you managing - don't forget my plants - showers and sunshine this morning.
Love to you & Mary. Dad/Simon & Mum

Sent to Bristol with 2 beautiful penny blue and one ha'penny orange, Audrey Hepburn standing in for the Queen. When will they do a grumpy octogenarian monarch on the stamps? She hasn't smiled since the Silver Jubilee (except to horses).

Move along, nothing to see here:

    Slightly creepy. Never sent.

    Earlier era crimped-edge card:

Probably still looks exactly the same. Google Earth anybody?

This one, from that Sacred Year of 1973, is a bit exceptional in that he's sent a postcard of his own house (or very nearby):

    Dear Jonathan,
I did have a very pleasant surprise when your calendar arrived. It was a nice one & you were very kind to send it to me. [Yeah, it's in the bin now you wretched cheapskate ingrate]. I can make good use of it. [NOT] Well, how are you. Mrs Owen & I trust that you are well & that you had a nice Christmas. How i the organ going? I hope to hear a nice tune when I come down. Give our regards to Angela & to your Daddy & Mummy With all our love to you.

'Tis the Season of mists and mellow fruitfulness and therefore about time we looked at a few more postcards:

Classic cliche card sent from Hampstead NW3 to Brighton in October 1961:

    In bed - Monday

Hope you got back o.k. I still feel pretty queer 'flu Dr. Drew says am to have at least 2 days off, so I am phoning the lady who comes to school "in emergencies" when I am o.k. I only hope you didn't catch it, but as it only came on Sat. night I couldn't put you off!! I called the hospital where I guessed A.K. was & the ward sister says she's o.k., but they'll have to keep in there a bit as she's broken left arm I obviously can't manage alone in home all day. - Oh dear! I am sure I can't go to hear Shostakovitch violin piece & some Bartok, Festival Hall tomorrow

    Cultural activities were curtailed.

St. Matthew's Church, Millbrook, Jersey + fine visiting Shite of the period:

    Never sent.

    Torquay. Devon. May 1986:

    Dear Miriam
Just a few lines to say we are having a nice time lovely Hotel & food wish you and Ciss was with us, its rather windy but Dry
    Cheerio
     Love Olive & Bob

    Not Fawlty Towers then.

Excellent scene with 2 types of AA sign, RAC ditto AND Watney's  Red Barrel, awkward people, Shite and wobbly yellow lines! What more could we ask? Sadly, however, never sent (yet).

Grotesque set up referencing peculiarly well-remembered folk song which has, as it were, put the obscure place on the map:

Old Git Special, never sent, but this will be trumped by the appearance of Claude Greengrass, aka Bill Maynard, in the card from Goathland, North Yorkshire, when we get up there...

I know there's always a question mark over the restoration of a car like this, but it was absolutely f*cked! It's worth remembering that the first Morris Minor and the first Land Rover have both been restored - the former quite substantially. Now, they still exist and are still very important vehicles. This was absolutely the right thing to do and I applaud your efforts. And your welder's efforts!

The main thing I admire about this forum is the length that some people go to save some un-popular rusted out putrid car that's had its front end submerged in a pond for 14 years would probably snap in two if it were jacked up and if you sat in it you'd be likely to catch cholera. The person who spots it comes on here asking "is it worth saving?" to which everyone else types "yes of course" or "go for it" type responses so the person goes ahead gets the car delivered to their middle class semi on a Monday morning this causes an emergency Neighbourhood Watch meeting on Monday evening and a trip to the divorce court on Friday morning, on Saturday evening the car catches fire and burns the house down. The person posts on here what's happened to which people respond with sympathetic posts like "such a shame, you won't find another car like that" then someone else offers a free Austin Montego that’s been buried in a quarry for 8 years and the process starts all over again...welcome to Autoshite.

£5000 seems a perfectly reasonable amount to pay by someone who wants a nice example of a classic Princess compared to people who, for example, pay £30,000 for a new BMW i3 and then shout about how cheap it is to run after being on charge all night.

I'd say the latter are the misguided fools.

I have a 75 Club diesel and they are amazing cars, the interior feels very upmarket far more than a Merc or BMW and they won't rust like a Merc or BMW.  Whatever one you go for i'm sure you'll really like it.

just goes to show, harris mann  was onto something 40 years ago.

the fact that the princess is starting to rise out of bangerdom suits me just fine, and the allegro, maxi and marina all coming up too is a good thing. i too think that all they were unfortunately much maligned cars, and are much better than their reputation/pub bores will tell you. over the years as a family and myself had a few of them. they were great family cars. yes they were rusty, and sometimes didn't want to go but most cars from the 1970s-early '80s were.

plus it will hopefully bring up the metro and monstro plus stop or slow down the engine raping of the a-series FWD cars for mini's (i own a mini but would never EVER engine rape something else rarer and unusual for its engine)

only thing is i would love to own an allegro, preferably a series 3 1275.... so i need to get on saving up my pennies. before the nice ones get too damn expensive!

A quick jaunt to the Isles of Scilly. I'd been before so was well prepped to spot tat. Most cars there are between 10 and 20 years old, so there's lots of stuff which is getting thin on the ground on the mainland, but little that makes you do a massive double-take. Sadly the local (incredibly crusty) SD1 had now disappeared.

    1. The local vintage car - there is apparently a Morris 8 van around too
    2. The Land Rover still rules the roost.
    3. Very rare: a local SCY number plate. And it's a very clean special edition Skoda. WIN.
    4. This Ford duo got me quite excited
    5. Bonus hot Rover too
    6. This could have been a scene from the 90s. The Suzuki was very, very clean
    7. Less so the Toyota. Don't remember seeing one this old for ages
    8. One of two S1 Landys spotted...

    10. Double Daihatsu spot. Generally, cheaper 4x4s were everywhere.

Some young un's are better leaving things alone. Had a Corsa c in yesterday for it's test. Big rear spoiler  with dribbles of silicone down the hatch, LED bulbs everywhere, boom box in the boot wired with lawnmower cable and 4 manky steel wheels- you just know his 37 inch rims have 4 bald ditchfinders and will be going back on before my signature was dry. Anyway he was asking why it kept cutting out over speed bumps.... When I lifted the bonnet it became clear. A battery big enough to start a Scania had been slung in, and was arcing on the bonnet over every bump. A little knowledge can be dangerous...
