  1. I'm sure I recognise this car and registration but can't work out where. It either belonged to someone I knew in about 1998, I've seen it on another website at some point or I'm completely mistaken and I've never seen it before.
  2. I like it, but not for 12 grand
  3. I must say, I was surprised at the 30 year age limit. I hadn't heard of it. It is quite possible that it did exist or existed as an advisory note
  4. Does anyone remember this? There was a guy who used to write to Autocar who just made up shit all the time. Maybe some kind of trolling from before internet forum days, or maybe he was just a fantasist. They would print his letter and put in a little reply that humoured him or similar. I remember once they had an article about learner driver cars and this guy wrote in that his ex had passed her driving test in his 1928 Bentley Blower, got no advisory notes and immediately drove it away as soon as the instructor got out while honking the horn. I just thought, "Of course that happened pal. Definitely a true story."
  5. I think the downward line from 2017 is the sort of trajectory you'd expect. It'll accelerate until it plateaus at a low number. As said, the drop around 2012-2013 is interesting
  6. Agreed - This doesn't seem like a scrapper. It has working brakes and suspension - that's far more important than originality Shads are becoming more desirable. I think this one has life in it
  7. It wasn't a driving instructor car, but I saw someone in 2022 in a BMW E30 325i on L plates. Cool car I learned to drive in a Skoda. I was lucky I wasn't put off cars for life
  8. This definitely gives me less anxiety about buying an N47/57 car. Book the day off work, turn up with a good book or two and saunter home afterwards. Outstanding
  9. Might be easy to pass that test if you're matey enough with the tester
  10. Insurance can be a little unpredictable. I've got a car coming in February and my main car due for renewal so I've just been getting quotes. Exactly the same details (address, mileage, use) apart from the BMW 320d has seven years no claims and the Maserati Coupe has four years. The Maserati is £50 cheaper to insure
  11. I heard that in some shots of Brideshead Revisited, you can actually see Jeremy Irons' UMM Alter in the background
  12. These are great cars - what are they worth here? Surely not £50,000
  13. This is a rubbish feeling. I always get it in one sinus only affecting one tooth and a headache down one side. Ibuprofen relieves it better than anything else, but it's not great
  14. High resistance in the battery due to the cold? I was bad at Physics at school but I remember learning about how temperature affects resistance in electrical circuits
  15. The reasoning is so that people don't panic as it fluctuates I think, but it does seem silly to me. It might as well just be a warning light for overheating and not have a gauge at all. mk3 Mazda MX-5 'oil pressure' gauge. It doesn't measure oil pressure at all - it is a non-calibrated scale that reacts only to RPM and coolant temperature.
  16. Meole Brace Sainsburys. I have fond memories of working there

  19. Yes, true, some do that. I know that older Mercedes systems do that but I think in cost cutting that was dropped. In my experience, most climate control systems don't incorporate that. I don't know about Honda. I've only had one and it didn't have air conditioning. Just had a crunchy gearbox and rusty floor pan and a great JVC head unit
  20. Agreed it's diesel - it has a six speed gearbox. Petrols were five speed.
  21. I've always been fascinated by this as a hobby but have never tried it as I don't really have a source of waste oil - at least not in the quantities needed to run a car. I don't know what new oil costs if you buy in bulk, but I know that oil at Aldi is more expensive than diesel (138.6p/litre for diesel two days ago vs 185p/litre for vegetable oil in Aldi) If I did have a good waste oil source, I think I'd be constrained for space at present (I don't have any more storage space, simply!) I would love to try it though
  22. Correct but I believe that E6x with M47 adopted DPF earlier
