Clean pass for the BMW today. Which is gratifying given all the effort I've put in to fix it.

sounds like a right pain i’d be tempted to free it off then clamp the flexi to get you mobile again and find a local garage to drive (very carefully) to.
hope you get it sorted

Weather was lovely this weekend but I didn't get as much done as I would have liked, partly because Friday night was my works Christmas do so I was feeling slightly* jaded on Saturday morning, and partly because the replacement front hub I ordered for the Z4 hasn't turned up yet.
Saturday I didn't get up and running until about 2pm, and even then I didn't do much more than get the Renault 4 and the Visa fired up and take them for a spin. I then attempted to ride the folding electric scooter in to Norwich, to pick up the Getz that I'd left there the night before because too pissed to drive home. It nearly made it - it got as far as the Norwich northern bypass, but then pulling up the long hill after the bypass it overheated (I'm assuming) and cut out. This was less than ideal as I was on a busy unlit A-road in the dark and it didn't cut just the motor, it shut the bike down completely so I had no lights. Fortunately the indicators are powered off their own internal batteries so I was able to keep one of those flashing.
After a bit of buggering about I found that if I unplugged and reconnected the battery, it'd reset and the bike would work again, but only for about half a mile before it conked out. I made it to the outskirts of Norwich with another few stops but after that I gave up and pushed it to where the car was parked - fortunately it's no heavier to push than a bicycle. So I've discovered its limitations - Hoveton / Wroxham is fine but Norwich is too far. To be fair there was quite a headwind which probably didn't help.
Today I fitted a new stereo to the Getz. The original stereo still works but I was browsing eBay a week or two ago and found a stereo in a spec that I'd been wanting for a while but not seen before - a single DIN Android touch-screen radio but with a single DIN-sized screen - most of them seem to have a massive great screen tacked on the front which gets in the way of switches and vents. Installation was actually pretty easy - it came without ISO plugs fitted but I found a wiring harness in my stash which had the correct plug at the stereo end, ISO plugs at the other and the wires more or less in the right place - I just had to snip one wire which had a different function on the new radio (reversing lights - I'm not using that wire as there's no point fitting a reversing camera to a tiny car with a vertical tailgate). The GPS antenna isn't quite as neatly fitted as I would have liked but it'll do, and it all works fine.

Late Chevy Corvair, innit? A leftfield choice in France, certainly.

Nothing worth BANTZ going on here. Just updating the thread for historical accuracy.
The Astra sloped off to stay with @Tickman then sauntered swiftly on to @Supernaut.
That left a hole the shape of a car in the transportation section of my virtual filofax.
Enter, @davehedgehog31 who happened to be vending. All @davehedgehog31 products are pre approved for quality and value so I booked a ticket to Scotland and travelled out during a red weather warning for northern England and Scotland.
This is my regret face approximately 3 or so minutes into the 10 or so hour journey. Wet.

I expect your next For Sale advert to have stills from your new camcorder and taken at least 200 feet away.

And here is December 4th!
Not gonna lie, I was pretty restless sleeping last night. I’ve put a few man hours into this thing and like I’ve said previously, I would be gutted if it didn’t pass. Here it is ready for the off. I did have to do a few last minute jobs such as a missing bulb in the number plate light (the contacts had been busted off, probably when Darren fitted his MEGGER LED’Z and removed them for sale). Also a front indicator bulb that had lost most of its orange-ness. Little things like that might just win the MOT tester over.
Anyway, I drove it to the test station - it drove absolutely wonderfully, not a single rattle or knock anywhere.
Let’s hope it was all worth it….
Our survey says….
ONE PASS!!!! I could not believe it!! The MOT guy said it had been looked after and was “a really nice car”. I just looked on in a state of disbelief and shock. One very happy guy with an equally happy Fiesta, WHAT A FUCKING CHAMP.
The fleet together at last! Summer and Winter cars ☺️
Thanks to all of you who’ve liked this little journey blog, she’s good for another 12.

It is now at the top of the local hill, resting on the smaller snowball ready to wreak havoc upon the Halfords below who refused to swap his 1day out of warranty battery...... He just needs his specially trained labrador to remember the right olace to cock a leg.....
He's off to establish his Costa Coffee alibi
Today Halfords - tomorrow the world......

When I was in my late teens we (my group of friends) were given an old Transit minibus by a friend's eccentric nan. It was big and red, and we decided we needed a van to lug around the equipment for our burgeoning DJ company we'd started. We ran it for a year or so, the whole thing was extremely dodgy.
Eventually it stopped running so we abandoned it on my mum's driveway. After a few months the MOT ran out, it wasn't taxed, it wasn't insured and it wasn't SORN'd. My mum wanted it gone, so a buyer was found. Charlie was going to tow it over to them, with Nick behind the wheel of the Transit. All still extremely dodgy.
So they get to Dover. Why they went through Dover I have no idea, there must be SO MANY cameras there. They're waiting in traffic, big red Transit lashed behind a Navara. The police pull up next to the Transit and motion to roll down the window. Nick starts to roll it down, and the officer begins the "What the fuck is that thing doing on the road" spiel, when the lights change and Charlie, not seeing any of this, drives off pulling the Transit with him leaving Nick to just shrug his shoulders at the officers with a look of helplessness on his face.
The police either couldn't, or didn't want to follow them to deal with it so left them to go on their merry way. Nick still can't believe his luck.
