  1. Past hour
  2. I present the Renault Megane 1.6e RT Sport, sport gave it front fogs, rear spoiler, porous alloys and a5spoke steering wheel
  3. The local taxi firm here in Kendal are advertising for Wolverhampton plated cabs, thought it was odd.
  4. They're cracking little things, and had it been a more sensible distance away might have been mine already. Perhaps this should be in the unpopular motoring opinions thread but I far prefer the cooking 950 and 1100cc variants to the GTis.
  5. Unlikely to be an issue nowadays since it's been 23 years since you could get three numbers in a row on a reg plate but I'd be reluctant to buy another car with a 666 plate on it given that was (so far, touch wood) the only car I've ever had a serious smash in, completely demolishing two Ford Sierras in the process. Salvaged this from the wreckage when I went to get my stuff out it a few days later.
  6. Ah... you've found the Mini-Dinky Cadillac. Buy it quick, if not tell me where it is pretty please
  7. A lot of them are, and no bike made in the last 20 years requires blipping at all to make a fast getaway from the lights so your analogy probably applies to a tiny percentage. I ride bikes and have done for over 40 years, the overwhelming majority of blippers are just attention seeking knobheads, same as boy racers with their pops and bangs.
  8. I name the pictures on my Flickr account so I can find them more easily Anyone know what this is?
  9. Well, that's fitted. Passenger side - no assister spring. But why did it break? I am guessing that the old one broke when the door was "restored" because this bulge of filler in the middle of the rusted door seal channel impedes the window and rather than fixing the problem, the broken window mech was bolted together and covered up. Annoyingly the door looks in overall good condition but the bottom edge has been filled and that's crumbled, so really the door needs stripping and doing over again. On the upside, as long as no-one tries to wind it up without help I've got it adjusted enough to open easily and stay shut when shut.
  10. Popped into the local Mcds again to find the guy we’d met twice previously with his very tidy Citroen GS estate was there again toady, but this time in his Ami Super8 estate. And very tidy too.
  11. I know I don't catalogue anything. I just drink to numb the pain.
  12. Nice work @eddyramrod good to see that old Transit live to fight another day! It was knackered when I got it but I managed to still rob a few spares for my other one. The Econoline high top is looking great too. Quite a few I recognise there actually! Maybe your CF got fitted with the engine out of the ex LDV Ambulance!
  13. I feel old... I can remember the days when a pretty girl could look like the one above, without having to be covered in graffiti. And she could take pride in her £75 brush-painted 948cc Morris Minor without signing her life away against a diesel Golf.
  14. Green cars. I have avoided them since before I could drive. My parents superstition was green cars are unlucky. They had a few green cars in the late 70s early 80s that confirmed it for them. I punted on a green v70 T5 once, i found out that the owner sold it because he was told to get rid as it was using oil. Lots of it. Which he didn’t bother telling me. So he had that back. Later I bought a series 3 Landrover ambulance that was green and sand. It spent more time off the road than on it. I purposely steer clear of green cars, I’ll never buy another. Missed some cracking deals in the past because of it!
  15. What a peach, she looks glorious! Sent from my VOG-L09 using Tapatalk
  16. Upd8. Just stopped at Sutton Scotney on the A34 for a drink and to restore my personal comforts. Little pug drive absurdly good. Bit of a grumble from a front wheel bearing but aside from that she’s absolutely bob-on. And fuel not needed, 130 miles not used half of the half-full tank it came with. Will report next when I get home.
  17. That's a brave inference to draw! The 2.3 was quite legendary in the CF: for its time it was ridiculously powerful as vans go. Of course it could have a Rover V8...
  18. So with the nice surprise that this has gotten more engine power, I continued driving and drove up to Treungen where I filled up with diesel, which was 23.79 liters used in 347km, which is the highest consumption so far, but there has been a lot of idling on this one. After that I took an ice cream break before hedding home. Drove a total of over 160 km today without a problem and I was neither tired nor broken afterwards. I really love this car.
  19. Today
  20. Cor! I'm looking forward to the Bedford CF Car Transporter! What with its 2.3 Litre petrol engine, it will give the driver quite a relaxed* drive.
  21. Few people work on May 1 here so it's quiet in the morning so I thought this would be a good day to test the Mercedes by driving down towards the coast which will provide a lot of hill climbing for the old Mercedes. And I have been dreading this due to its low power. But little did I know that today I was going to get one of my biggest surprises ever. The trip down was only downhill and went without a problem, then I had to drive up a hill I've been dreading. This is a big bastard of a hill and with a roundabout at the bottom, so it is not possible to get up to speed before it either. I had expected and imagined that this hill would be in first gear and at walking speed. So I came out of the roundabout and got it up to 3rd gear and the hill started and I expected to start downshifting. But to my great surprise, this one managed the whole hill in 3rd gear at 40 km/h as if the hill didn't even exist. This is very impressive and I was a bit shocked. At the top of the hill I turned at the roundabout there and drove back again and went down the hill calmly in 3rd gear without touching the brakes before I hit the roundabout at the bottom again. Then on the way home there were a lot of hills and I didn't have to downshift and the Mercedes didn't even work hard on the hills and I'm starting to understand that something has happened, this feels more powerful than what I can remember. This year before this, I have only done quiet driving on flat ground, so I have not noticed this until now. After more testing today, this is now more powerful than what it has a right to be and drives straight up proper hills in 4th gear without a problem. This one was not like this last year, so something has happened. What has happened is a guess but I have come to think of an experienced diesel mechanic who has told something like, that on tractors that have only done light work they lose power and with putting them in heavy work makes the diesel engines wake up and get more power the same with working them in a pto dyno. The reason that makes me think is that last autumn, before it was parked, it was worked really hard up a really steep hill when I was stressed because of a truck behind me. I then pushed this harder than what I was comfortable with. Could this have woken up the engine? I don't know but it is possible, I also use a diesel additive that has a lot of good feedback but I doubt that they can do that much? So since I expected this bastard hill was going to go so slow that I was going to be overtaken by cyclists, I tried a little filming. This was not so successful, have to get hold of a good phone mount as there was a lot of vibration. And the hill is steeper than it seems here.
  22. Today's been lovely, so there has been some outdoor work. Starting with the primer where it's needed... And then I got out the drill and the not-a-Dremel... What could possibly be happening here? Patience; all will be revealed eventually. And then... That tub is full of stuff to go back upstairs for whatever reason. Some will be coming back down for paint; most won't. Why is there a chunk out of the caravan? Because it's going to become part of the half-a-Transit! For decades we've all seen battered old van or truck chassis-cabs with caravans of various sizes tacked on the back to create a home-built camper. I had a pretty distressed and incomplete Transit courtesy of @danthecapriman and a no-name cheapo caravan from @FakeConcern. Well hey presto! I've partially catalogued the Matchbox-size entries in my Film/TV sub-collection. That was arduous enough. And it's a live thing, I keep adding to it, so the listing needs updating since I last did it.
  23. Never buy a Peugeot. Due to a 309 that I crashed twice - the second time wrote it off, weeks after I'd spent £300 on a new Weber carb only to find the ungrateful bastard still didn't run properly.
