Off to Bournemouth in the morning to fetch something hopeless.  Loaded a wheel from one of my cars with a slightly less crap tyre than whats on it and a spare battery as it hasn't been charging reliably.  Will hopefully make something MOTable between them.  Hoping it makes it home as I have no recovery and it has a weeks MOT.  The girls are coming so suggestions for entertaining them for a couple of hours in Bournemouth would be great.

We were in Bournemouth the other day, there is a sea life centre on the seafront called the Oceanarium which is £30 for a family ticket and pretty good, has penguins and sharks. Seafront car parks are busy and expensive tho.

Didn't think much of the rest of the town centre although there is a Waterstones and a mixed tat/manga/Pokémon shop my kids liked on this arcade. https://maps.app.goo.gl/Vh8CVgb2n64Sv3Q98

Weather's better on the motorway.

Good hit on mobile Autoshite -10/10 to the canny photographer.

I'll open the book on the 'hopeless' car - 1998 Vectra goes in at 100-1

I think it'll be French but it won't be as fashionable as a Talbot.

Bournemouth, it's a micra or a jazz .

Give either a good poke underneath living by the seaside.

For a second there I thought you'd grabbed a Dolly.......

The word legendary is still somehow appropriate!

Safe trip back.

Well done. It harks back to the day when the thought of owning a diesel didn't fill one with terror.

Stopped in Cirencester for a coffee,  last time we visited there was a classic car show we didn't know about, this time it was a free food festival with live music 😎

And we're home 😎

Forgot just how much fun a 405 TD is on the local roads.  Abberley to Pensax is great, Hopton Bank is leveled (the smoke should have cleared by morning).

So what's it like?  Still quick and comfortable at the expense of some extra noises.  The air conditioning is long gone and you can't entirely switch the heating off but out of town it runs fairly cool so is fine with the window cracked open.   You need to shut that window before the door though as the last one smashed due to a worn lifter mech.  The drivers door makes some dreadful noises when opening too.

Its apparently no rustier than when it passed it's last MOT 51 weeks ago.  I've bought it for parts but its tempting to see if a ball joint and a couple of rubber bits would get it one last ticket.  I'll never get the other one or Dacia ready in time for Chodley.

It drives fairly well apart from the odd clonk from a knackered ball joint and a very worn clutch making gearchanges a delicate operation.
