On the practical side - it's Armistice Day in France today - and tomorrow is Ascension Day - both public holidays; so shops are shut though some bakers open in the mornings and some cafés.

Looks like you'll be in France for Friday when everything  some things will be open again - Saturday will be a half day for a lot of shops and most garages; but the supermarkets and DIY sheds stay open. Sunday everything is closed. And then for Monday things are open again.

A lot of people make it a long weekend - so traffic can be heavier especially around the cities. Sunday evening could be particularly busy.

Autoroute services stay open right through.

If you need to get a fan belt I *think* 10mm width and 975mm running length is what you need. I was looking up some service bits for the 205 and stumbled across parts for the Spanish market 205, which used the Simca engine (in 1118, 1294 & 1598 capacities) for some reason! I can't see it being too different.

I wouldn't necessarily bank on it - lots of small businesses will be doing the pont de l'Ascension and buggering off for a 5-day weekend.  Supermarkets etc should be open though.

I always find it mildly amusing that an aggressively secular country like France has more religious holidays than we do.
