KruJoe Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Apologies for the rushed out FOR SALE listing folks, I'll update more later if anyone wants to know owt. You may be familiar with this vehicle from such events as Chumleys, Shitefests, and A.R.S.E.. Also Wobbler Review: I've had it a full nine years because it's been so bloomin' useful, I can't think of a more capacious 4WD. MOT : 7 days left, expires 20th March. Taxed, insured to get you home. So yesterday this happened: A-framed the Maz to Coach Craft with the intension of driving that back, leaving the PW for MOT fettling. You may remember Coach Craft, in Blackburn from here: Most things looks the same as usual there Anyway... We set about it with toffee hammers, and (brace yourself) Also, there's a coolant leak from water pump area. Plus some niggles as you might expect with 30 year old shite. It's more than they want to take on, it needs a proper weldathon, not just patches. "Never been welded" but suddenly needs LOTS. So I A-framed the Mazda back home to Malhamdale BD23. I can help with collection / delivery as best I can if it means the PW might live on. Anyone fancy it for scrap money? Talking of which, spotted on the way home... And home. FFS Yorkshire, not Oz. *awaits onslaught* PicantoJon, Tickman, grogee and 16 others 4 15
Tickman Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 This has seen some things. Hopefully someone is game for a weldathon. KruJoe 1
HMC Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 GLWTS Can someone find the r8/ pleasure wagon photo? Iconic. KruJoe 1

Schaefft Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 To me this is still one of my favorite minivan designs ever. And the color of this one is perfect as well. Shame this one is so crusty. KruJoe 1
BorniteIdentity Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 @GingerNuttzloves nothing more than a holey undercarriage
KruJoe Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 As you may have seen in my collection thread this afternoon, the good old PW has thrown in the towel. I was trundling along nicely about 50mph, and it just cut out. Dash lit up, and it just sounds like no compression on turning the key. Of course it was pishing down and I was right on the edge of a busy, narrow A-road, so no chance to investigate. 5 hours ago, SEATMad said: ...have you figured out why it’s got no compression? I'm guessing something's gone wrong with the cam belt. It's buried right under the middle of the car so haven't actually seen it. 1 hour ago, Dyslexic Viking said: Timing belt/timing chain failure? Yup. Think so. 9 hours ago, twosmoke300 said: End of an Era - sad times Yes indeed. Exactly this. I'm just thankful I was on the way to its (temporary) replacement, and I hadn't just spunked a four-figure sum on getting the underside restored. So thank you Lawrence at Coach Craft for turning down the job. Also I'm grateful that is has done this to me, rather than any of you poor souls, if anyone had actually taken it on. bigstraight6, mercedade, PicantoJon and 13 others 1 14 1
NorthernMonkey Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 RIP little Soulja etc etc (other Facebook cliches available) I trust you’ll be tying a bunch of Aldi tulips to the nearest lamppost? It’s almost poetic that it expired en route to collect its replacement 😢 KruJoe, Fat_Pirate, AxWomble and 5 others 4 4
PicantoJon Posted March 13, 2024 Posted March 13, 2024 Fuqstiks. 😢 A sad end for the rescue vehicle of many* a shiter. KruJoe and AnnoyingPentium 2
KruJoe Posted March 13, 2024 Author Posted March 13, 2024 🥲 Yeah we've had loads of adventures with it. In a small way, it features in this year's calendar again: If you zoom in far enough, you might spy my Mrs reclining on the airbed in the back as we faffed about in the drizzle! 23rdian Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I would rather have cars to go like this having both the bodies and the wheels fully driven off them. It's a sad end, but it has brought the world much joy. Eg: I will reshare the pictures as I continue to find them. chaseracer, loserone, yes oui si and 6 others 8 1
Schaefft Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 I'm not sure what shape it's in overall but would it make sense to part it out? At the very least I'd take the flex to those side panels and safe the pleasure wagon decals!

It would have made a nice greenhouse, but hey ho. Time to draw a clean line under it, I think. I already asked @Rocket88 if he needs anything, I'm saving the wiper/spray system for him. Anyone else want owt, speak now.

The only possible way to make this better is if @KruJoe walks round his garden 4,000 times to raise money for PWA (pleasure wagon awareness) then mysteriously ends up with a big fuck off conservatory on the side of his house. RobT Posted March 14, 2024 Posted March 14, 2024 Much sadness. It deserves the AS equivalent of a state funeral, or an erection somewhere. RIP PW. twosmoke300, Cavcraft, aldo135 and 1 other 4

My love affair with Granvias ended with a cracked head. Your old one is just storage space, the other one went off on an overloaded sprinter beavertail a few weeks back. Cheers though.
