Some of the Scottish literally melted. That's not the same cms206 you'll see next week 🤫 The worst about Shitefest this year is that I'm on holiday this week. In Rhyl. 38 miles from Cwm-y-glo. But I'm going home between this week and next weekend 😂 Weather's been fab down here too! beko1987 and KruJoe 2

Pete-M Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 I won't be able to make it as I'll be in Belgium. I was looking forward to SF23 but unfortunately I'll have to give it a miss this year. Volksy, Sunny Jim and beko1987 1 2

Sunny Jim Posted July 6, 2023 Author Posted July 6, 2023 Last year we did cars, trains and slate - how about this year we do cars, planes and sand? The thinking man's tour guide for North Wales @binhoker668 has suggested a convoy to Airworld Aviation Museum at Caernarfon Airport https://www.airworldmuseum.com/ "Located on the airfield of the former RAF Llandwrog, the museum has an impressive collection of aircraft and aviation memorabilia. The museum offers the opportunity to get close up to some historic aircraft. Set on an active airfield, the museum houses iconic machines such as the Hawker Hunter, D.H. Vampire, along with the only T2 BAe Harrier remaining worldwide. Please see our website for latest additions to the collection. Part of the museum is devoted to the creation of the RAF Mountain Rescue Service, started here at RAF Llandwrog in 1942, whilst other sections describe the wartime airfields of North Wales. The gift shop sells model kits and souvenirs. Free car parking on site." £7 for adults, £5 for pensioners and kids. no need to book open 10am - 4pm That would take us to my favourite beach, Dinas Dinlle with wonderful views across to Anglesey with the mountains behind. Cafes, fish & chips and ice cream also available. https://www.visitsnowdonia.info/dinas-dinlle brownnova, Back_For_More, Flat4 and 11 others 14
beko1987 Posted July 6, 2023 Posted July 6, 2023 Fully vacated/not claim staked pitches suddenly available as a result of said excursion are fully within their rights to be nabbed by those of us who usually stay at the field... Rule 73 for the new people 👌 twosmoke300 1

I have looked into going up Snowdon by train. £50 for steam or £38 for diesel + £3.50 admin fee seemed a bit high for my taste, then I read the weather forecast and paying for a damp showery trip up a mountain is not exciting me much. I think on Saturday I will opt for a drive round Anglesey as I have never done that. KruJoe 1

beko1987 Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I'm hoping this time next week I'll be in the car at least driving to the asda just by the m40 for fuel and tyre pressure checks. 7 days!

Six-cylinder Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I am now thinking about a trip up the Great Orme Tramway or Cable Car if the weather is ok. £10.90 for the tram or £13 for the cable car. Pay on the day as there is no pre booking and if the weather is very wet I can give it a miss. chaseracer 1
davidfowler2000 Posted July 7, 2023 Posted July 7, 2023 I am also swithering with a run up the Great Orme

I'll be bringing the 205 as it's the only member of the fleet that I haven't taken to Wales. As it's spent most of its life in Essex and London I think it's likely that it's never been to Wales before. Sunny Jim 1

Sunny Jim Posted July 9, 2023 Author Posted July 9, 2023 Went on a fact finding mission to Dinas Dinlle this morning. Let's hope the weather's as good next weekend. While I was there I popped into the Air Museum. They're happy to welcome us next weekend and the good news is that as a group admission will be £4 per person as opposed to the usual £7 - more money for beer/chips/ice cream! Also went to see Ted at the campsite. If anyone wants to arrive before Friday that's fine, just call the number on the sign when you arrive. I'm teaching next Friday but hope to get there around 3pm. One of the old guard early birds ( @binhoker668 @Ghosty?) can direct you to a pitch if you arrive before I do. KruJoe, PicantoJon, Dyslexic Viking and 7 others 10
