reallyloud
Bumper weekend snaps coming up - and we haven't got to Bromley yet... Thanks to Mouseflakes for the heads up, I took a drive to Farnham to attend the Citroen GS meet at the Rural life museum, near Farnham. Knowing the fact I may never see so many GS' and GSA's in one place, I took a lesuirely drive up there to show you a selection of cars there. As expected with this type of car, the owners were friendly and most welcoming. Alas there were no Renaults this year though... Pleased to have seen this arrive. These went up to E reg and of course lived forever as the C15 Van. I wonder if any of the original Visas exist? Even by Visa/GS standards this Ami van is rare. Hurrah! First small indicator BX model I've seen in years. Left hooker Italian market model. Very early left hooker Diesel model Alfa wheels look quite good on this. trigger
Love the Citroens, Shame about the door on this one though, Looks pretty tidy apart from that.
dollywobbler
Unsurprisingly, I know a great many of those Citroens and have driven the Jade Green GSA. Deliciously smooth. The CX with Alfa alloys has just turned up on Retro Rides. It's stunning - and I am far from a lover of alloys on old cars.I'm actually off to play with a small-indicator BX tomorrow afternoon hopefully. Can't wait! 155V6
Nice pics,I was going to go to this as I only live about 10 miles away, but went to a car show in Farnham town centre instead.I did see that GS with the stickers on coming back through Farnham though. mouseflakes
Thanks for those Mr. Loud. Love the cream Ami 6. I'd never realised these were booted - always assumed it was a hatch. I went to Tilford a couple of years back and thought it was a thoroughly pleasant little gathering. There were 8 Renners that year (mine was one of three R30s!!). I finished the welding on the XM and got it mot'd last week and was all ready to travel to Farnham in it with the family today (were there any XMs present?). Unfortunately our little lad has spent the weekend projectile vomiting so we had to call the trip off (the XM's interior is far to good to risk that ). Mash
Wonderful stuff - I love GSes Not brave enough to own one though....
dollywobbler
I WILL buy a GS/GSA at some point. If I can (barely) cope with an Alfa V6, I can cope with anything. Though even I would draw the line at a C-matic...Mouseflakes - the Citroen GS is also booted only, like the Ami 8 saloon. The Seventies really was the era of 'should have been a hatchback' what with the Princess, CX, GS, Ami 8 etc.
mnde
Nice photos Mr Loud. Mine is the red one, TMV Really nice to have so many early GSs there and a few such as that some on here would call "delightfully scabby" on proud display BTW, what about the Allagro? Mark. reallyloud
The Ami was indeed a LHD model, I think I saw it at Bromley a few years back. The GS is on my list of cars I'd like to have (CILH), the experiences of changing a starter motor (which was a major job) and the rampant rust on a mates 1979 special was enough to make me think twice. I think out of them all, I liked the green one, the colour was perfect and those steel wheels are very evocative. Here are a few more snaps taken over the weekend: Here's that Allegro, in stunning condition. I spotted these in Portsmouth, Reading and Aldershot. And a small selection of static motors from the Castle combe event. Early survivor. A masterful rebody of a Austin Healey Sprite. The capri was celebrating its 40th birthday - there must have been 70 or so capris there. I'll put a few more of those up later in the week. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2463/3611535880_564ce4df84_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2451/3610723593_c1b18079b0_o.jpg

reallyloud
Mine is the red one, TMV Hey mnde, do you know the owner of this GSA? I was speaking to him at the event and he's currently waiting in line to join the forum. I can't recall his user name, but maybe you could give the mods a poke to activate his account. A few examples of some of the Capris on show at Castle combe from last weekend. As I mentioned there were a huge amount of capris, I took snaps about 60 of them, but I'll only post a selection of the more interesting ones. There were obviously a huge amount of mk3 capris, particularly the later models, and lots of well loved mk1's, but curiously mk2 examples were fairly low in comparison. Are they less collectable? I rather like the understated shape. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3355/3616650639_b3bb94a83d_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3630/3616648551_6aa9c13640_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2478/3617467368_03e230208f_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3620/3616648023_9df0e34acc_o.jpg I do apologise for those who don't like capris, but there was a give away of the content in the thread header...... reallyloud
A few snaps from the already documented Bromley and last weekends Fatha's day knebworth event. I was honoured to have bumped into Seth and his Minx, who was just as trigger happy as me. The quality and condition of some of the cars at that event was extraordinary. Start off with a small selection of cars at the Knebworth event: Parked outside the enclosure. Bizarre fairground ride. I can only assume the TR7 used was beyond saving. This Devon had a wrap around rear screen - Seth suggested it was an Oz import. This was in stunning condition, not only that but I believe the owner had restored and fabricated much of the bodywork himself. It won car of the event. A few spots from the last few weeks: I reckon this would have been one of the last beta coupes, a marketing ploy to bodge on a yugoesque body kit and sell them them. Shame really, the normal ones are clean looking cars. Looks like an American market grill kit. Look neats, me thinks. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3313/3657267973_0720de5339_o.jpg You have to be quite insane to drive this. I have a toy majorette version exactly the same as this. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3583/3658062128_7a9d6f6b30_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3297/3657268653_68e489909d_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3619/3657269313_c50853ea87_o.jpg Ghia? http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3157/3657269175_abaf3a85ca_o.jpg One thats just managed to avoid the crusher. Just. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3548/3657268899_cdea041e8d_o.jpg The driveway had 3 more cars and I suspect there's more in the garage, backgarden and kitchen. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3305/3658062412_94c681a419_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3380/3658061850_dbe74f7514_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3615/3657268153_87436b1eac_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3651/3658061306_69b18bdff6_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2452/3658061112_cca280e010_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3269/3658060878_56bbf94bb8_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3321/3657267557_79884cdc85_o.jpg This toyotas reg looks vaguely familiar. And over to Bromley, I took snaps of about 400 cars, but I'll only post up a few as quite a few of these cars would have been seen before on here. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3362/3657340639_edd2879171_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3660/3658126706_2abac6637e_o.jpg Genuine SS version and totally mint. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3336/3658126804_4a73dc4538_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3573/3658126902_dd0d212f35_o.jpg He wanted 3K for this. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2481/3658127374_03d1e1ed45_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3633/3658127146_6f685e2f7b_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3148/3658131606_f1280b6bdb_o.jpg Those into Datsun know all about this car, but the owner was stationed in Japan in the early 70's. Apparently all his colleagues bought normal versions of the car , he found himself a 1969 SSS twin carb version and imported it into the UK when he left and has looked after it ever since. This car is worth a small fortune! Nice chap too. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3404/3657338769_30efe2f8cc_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3391/3657338437_f76eccfa9e_o.jpg Another toy car reference - corgi did one of these! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3602/3658130452_afd5daab17_o.jpg Not sure if this was a genuine edition. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2474/3657337711_508f27bab0_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3603/3658129926_684505454b_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3405/3657337069_95172288ff_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3610/3657336785_4fe8210615_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3406/3658128972_ee8fc36143_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3366/3658127560_f5b825d532_o.jpg Slightly disappointed by the Renault stall this year - previous years have been excellent, but this year had far too many Alpine and modern Renaults. I saw this very car cruising effortlessly on the M27 recently. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2450/3657335579_7e5f17b547_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3577/3657335973_9f2a6548b6_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3393/3657339567_dd92dce2e1_o.jpg http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3606/3658132646_a268196d4f_o.jpg Had a good chat with the knowledgeable owners, the car was originallly plated LYN 1D in the 70's (obviously not age related) the current owner bought the car and let the owner keep the plate and applied for a much more suitable one. The owners also have a S1 Peugeot 305S and Talbot Horizon! http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3664/3658133020_6e730a53a2_o.jpg http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2436/3658131910_4fb090da55_o.jpg Glad this still exists, saw it at JAE a few years back but it looks like it needs a bit of work. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3580/3658128692_5946bcc76b_o.jpg I think I'll take this one home, you can keep your Capris!
