Just bought a litre of Vactan rust convertor/primer off eBay. Should come in handy when I give the Volvos their pre-winter checkover :)

Wheezy useless heater fan on the Commer has been replaced by this little beauty , fitted inside the original fan case so you cant even tell its modified , A gail force in comparison to the original , cheapish as well so who cares if its really for a boat :)

I, a mechanical incompetent, have successfully replaced the Blingo's borked rear wiper arm. Without scratching the paint or smashing the tailgate screen. Using real tools and everything.

Go me.

Due to meanness, missed out on a Golf cabrio hood handle on fleaBay that went for £16 + post then ended up shelling out £30 + post for another one. Fed up with auctions so found one with a BIN on it. Hope this one shows up, this is third attempt to buy one of the bloody things.

I snapped the original off by not realising that the new canvas top I'd just fitted would be a bit tighter than the shagged out 15-year old one that was full of holes

FINALLY replaced the missing n/s rear shock absorber on the maestro van trailer ( so its just the n/s, not rear, as it has no front end at all). I was missing a lower mounting bolt but the Volvo 244 I broke used similar bolts to mount the rear bumper. Its now fully roadworthy!*

It actually needed to be replaced as I needed to "borrow" the top mounting for another project, but the shock was in such a poor condition it fell apart when I removed it. Then I lost the lower mounting bolt. Took me about 2 hours to cut it off as everything was so badly corroded! Can't wait to do the O/S one!

Went up in the loft yesterday to look for a missing work folder for Ma_Sterling. Whilst up there I didnt realise how much car stuff I had up there. 3 R/H Mk1 Rover 800 wings, boxes and boxes of plastic interior trim, wiper linkages, placca wheel trims and other assorted Rover 800 crap. In fact of the little space we use in the loft (Most of it aint borded so nowhere to tread) 90% is my stuff. I fear I shall have to clean it out and store it my other garage, though I'm also gonna have to create some phat shelves to store some of this crap on. Whilst in the loft, I also found an alternator hidden under some bags. I could have done with finding it a few weeks ago :|

That of course and the back garden which has miles of placca wheel trims, 6 x alloy wheels and 2 mountain bikes.

Posted

Incidentally, SCTSH_ANDY has just b[r]ought some

phat shelves

from Costcunter to store our stuff on, as the unit has 33% more space than it did previously.

Again, I drove the 460 to Uni so that I could viciously assist in our gruppe projekt. It is shit in traffic with that snatchy throttle cable and does about 15 MPG in stop start tailbacks. I also took some pictures of it in daylight, which is a first in the three weeks I've owned it so far. The alloys are curbed to funk and need balancing. There's a bit of grot and to be honest it could do with a pair of new wings after Heathrow bint biffed them both. I reckon most of the bushes \ balljoints at the front are kippered along with the dampers. It sounds like a comedy shag bed if any rough roads are attempted. Still goes lovely and seems to return the best MPG figures on long motorway stretches at 80 mph.

After driving it for some distance, and tackling some twisty roads, I've come to the conclusion that the driver's seat helps not one jot when pressing on. Instead of holding you in place it pitches you into the door frame. Of course my fat arse has nothing to do with this problem whatsoever, and that I fill the seat is of no consequence at all.

I also won some proper Volvo mats, tried to clean it (but was defeated by the missing NSF door seal which let the water piss in at the car wash, so the run was aborted) and set the inside tyre alight when pulling away quickly on some spilt diesel. We're talking a massive plume of smoke, kids. I'm sure the car behind thought I was a joy rider.

I'll hoy some photos up when I get chance, and maybe do a proper thread with which to bore you all shitless.

Plans are afoot to start reviving the Amazon soon too. Hurdy gur hur hur.

Decided to go round the DAF and sort out any bubbling rust. Most of it was okay but then i found this:

IMAG0450.jpg

Fuck-knuckles. Lools like it has been there for a while and has just been filled in the past as I am sure that the cars did not come with that much filler on as standard.

So welder and grinder came out and half an hour later:

IMAG0451.jpg

Have painted it with some hydrate 80, put another liberal amount of filler on it. Have the afternoon off work to go home and finish sanding it back and paint it (although I dont have the right colour paint yet). As it was alsways going to be covered in filler I did not have to make a great job of it. However I am now content it is solid in that place and I have photgraphic evidence of it.

Also I do alpologise for my lack of input on here at the mo. I have no t'interweb at home and it not ideal using a phone. However I can still get on at work. Most sites are blocked but Autoshite is not at the mo (hope i dont tempt fate by saying that).

Fucksticks - Scirocco won't start this morning.

That means I'm going to have to walk up to the doctors with my sore bollock.

Got up this morning to find the rear door of the Volvo S80 has been stoved in by another car. No sign of the other car or a note, natch.

I may have uttered a rude word

I take it from reading the blurb that it is just a blower motor and not a heater/blower?

Clearing out the boot of the Beemer I noticed I haz pond :roll: , Ive dried it out and think its coming out in through the rear light gaskets so ive removed the lights and pumped some some roof and gutter sealant on the lights and squidged them back on.

My Haynes manual for the thing was useless to start with but is now totally fucked as its imitating a sponge

BX has been busy today, hauling ladders around. I R CLEEN UR WINDOZE!

I know it's further away from the camera, but the BX looks TINY compared to the 75! And, I must admit, rather less graceful and elegant...

900 mile round trip to Edinburger for work today and yesterday.

Fairly tedious, but enriched enormously by Richard Allinson standing in for Steve "rhymes with shite" Wright.

After a week and a bit of trying I managed to get the centre dash vent out of the super_modern_sáb this morning, allowing access to the screws that hold the non LW receiving OEM head unit. On pulling that out I was confronted by a weird selection of string, including a fakra radio aerial connector, which was a new one on me. So I've had to put it back in for now awaiting relevant adapters and stuff. I've left the vent in the living room though, cos it's an absolute bitch to get out.

Don't spose anyone knows if a 07MY 9-3* has an amplified aerial for AM reception? I'm not sure if I need an aerial adapter with a leccy feed off and matching harness connectors or not. :?

*I gather it's the same set up as a Cadillac BLS.

Ordered bits for the Heep's imminent service.

Rear discs and pads, oil and air filters, fan belt, anti roll bar bushes, £103.

Rear handbrake shoes (which I won't know if I need until the rear discs are off) £57.

I've not ordered the handbrake shoes... yet.

In other news, I went to see the Weldists today and the 604 is back on all four wheels!! Other than the cover sills, a squizz with underseally stuff, fuel tank and rear seats refitting it's now near as dammit ready to visit the painters. I refitted the drivers seat and a few bits and bobs and by 'eck, I'd forgotten just how comfy the seats are in it.

I wonder what it drives like?

Today, as there was no work (again) I took the ashtray/cigar-lighter and trip computer to see why the cigar lighter plug wasnt working, I found this out as I was sent to a new job yesterday morning and wasnt familiar with the area.

Turned out to be a rather hidden little fuse, it was well buggered, but obviously being a 7.5 fuse, naturually I didnt have one to spare, so a trip upto the motorfactors was called for, fuse bought, replaced, as is ashtray and trip computer. Now ciger-lighter and sat nav works.

Heater blower doesnt seem to want to work, I suspect its seized, blower just clicks when switching up and down. Brilliant, just what I need with the up and coming winter. Will have to learn how to take it out and get it unseized, its possible, I just dont know how to get to it.

A5 - Do it!

I'm all for driving a 1970's RWD sports car around in the snow. I shall probably be doing similar myself.

Reminds me: A5 or SOC, or anybody who'd like some bananas for their efforts, can you see if you have a good set of 78TM 2.8L heads. Bare to save weight, please, no valves or rocker parts needed. Just 2 good uncracked 78TM 2800cc heads. Put them in an envelope and mail to me. Need them kinda soon. Yes, know the DHL or whatever will be stupid. Yes, it will. Can you arse about a price for shipping and the heads (in 1 parcel or split into 2 parcels, whatever is less expensive total)?

i ll have a look in my "shed of doom" Norm
