E-series into a mini used to get done occasionally, but its a massive load of work and if someone was going to put themselves through all that they probably would use a 1750 would they not? I reckon his tale is bullsh.

Well that's what I thought to be honest.

I think he is just trying it on!

Some of the grumps on here are rather lame for sure, if that's all you have to worry about, well done to you grumpers!

If it's advertised on bumtree as having a 1300cc engine then it would deffo attract the attention of Mini engine rapists. Imagine their anger when the bonnet is opened to reveal a lovely E series!

I recon you should tell him to sell the engine and see what happens. I think it's worth scrap value tops.

I know someone who is selling an un-MOT'd Allegro estate 1500 with twin carbs. It's had a new front panel and needs a few bits and pieces but is in very good order overall.

My grumble

Signs that say "KEEP APART TWO CHEVRONS"

A Porsche came past me on that stretch of the M11 with the chevrons.

I dam near killed myself and the car trying to keep 2 chevrons behind him.

Reading the advert again I must have dreamt it!

The estate sounds interesting do you have any more info?

Run away from the Aggro Mr Organist. Sounds dodgy in many different ways! There are still enough Allegros out there. I think a Series 3 1300 would be very desirable. I'm not a fan of the 1500.

If he's told you £300 then it's £300 or you should consider telling him to FRO. I despise people who do that kind of thing and have lost count how many deals I've walked away from, even when they were still really cheap, if the seller cocks on his original price. Tell him it was £300 and that's it, if he wants more then good luck selling it but you're not interested anymore.

*Edit it's nothing to do with him 'not being sure' and 'giving it away' it's purely because the daft twat had it advertised as a 1.3 so was probably pestered to death by Mini owners on the phone and has now imaged that multiple phone calls=it being worth shit loads more.

The thing is, it just stops you in your tracks, and you never really get taught what to do in these circumstances. I think some people get a bit carried away with the 'oh, I'd better say condolences or something' even when they haven't a clue about what's going on really. I'm afraid I never do that. I just take note and make a mental note to avoid any banter for a few days with that person. Anyway, that was my post, the world moves on and now someone should post something nice and trivial again - which is what this thread is about really! Anger at silliness.

I don't think it's about people 'not having a clue' I think it's more they feel a respect (or whatever) for the person who posted the message and just sort of want them to know they feel sorry for them I suppose.

You wouldn't have (nor indeed want) to know why someone's relative/mate/neighbour died, but if they were close to the person who posted the comment are people really wrong for offering condolences?

Posted

If you met a friend who told you about someone they're close to who died but you don't know the friend you'd still give your condolences.

I think when someone passes away you should be sorry for the people left behind as they're the one's that have to deal with it.

True I think I will probably give it a miss!

I guess that sounds fair enough. I'm not really an expert on it to tell the truth. I hadn't even been to a funeral until I was in my early 20s. (and even then I got grumpy because we were all in the church and I never got to see the hearse).

I won't go above 300. I think I would want to get a better look again. Probably be best looking elsewhere. I have one maxi I am committed to anyway. And possibly a second.

Usually, I keep apart four chevrons; like most Citroens, the Blingo has two on the front and two on the back.

My sex life has sadly died. It had been on a gradual decline for several years now and had been on a support machine for the last 6 months. However the doctors said that whilst it gave the impression of being alive, there is actually nothing there and its been switched off for good.

My grumbles of the day;-

Signs that say "ROAD WORKS" when it obviously doesn't.

Signs that say "USE BOTH LANES" my car isn't that wide to use both!

Signs that say "KEEP APART TWO CHEVRONS"  What do they expect? Lay on the road and hold two apart?

Have a nice day........yeuch

Well, while we're taking things literally.......

Many moons ago, I used to work for a second rate haulage company, driving Scania 110's - DVK 817K - that shows how long ago. One day I defected my tractor unit because it just wouldn't run right, the filters kept clogging up with muck, so I wrote on the defect note 'SHIT IN TANK' meaning the main diesel tank needed cleaning right out. A bit later, I wandered into the workshop to see how the fitters were doing only to find one of them perched up on the diesel tank with his trousers down, When I asked what he was doing, he told me he was trying to shit in the diesel tank, but the filler hole was very small, because that was what the defect note had told him to do. Knob.

More sad news... I walked past an AA van this morning, and the bloke inside was sobbing uncontrollably.

I reckon he was probably heading for a breakdown.
