Fixed my daughter's with "Tree Frog Oily Glue"

Wasn't expecting it to last five minutes but has held for about three weeks now.

I have said that I will buy her new ones but she is dragging her heels.

Yes indeed, I've been on to the optician - they agreed that they should have lasted longer than six months, and say they'll order me up a new set of frames and then be in touch to bring the old ones and swap the lenses around - "about five or six days".

Fingers crossed!

Been away over the weekend.  Had a great time, just on the road heading home now (being a passenger in your own car is really weird).  Just had a message from the in-laws who have been house (and dog) sitting for us: Apparently we have no heating this morning.  Great!

Why can't we ever just have something nice without there being a sting in the tail at the end?

Hopefully it's just the random once every year and a half or so occasion when the pilot light has gone out for no readily explicable reason.  Though they are utterly non technical people so are being told to just turn an electric heater on if needed (there's a good reason I've kept a few) and wait.

But we have working heat and hot water again.  One of the zone control valves has failed (spectacularly) electrically.  So it's been disconnected, manually opened and the terminals for the integral switch (16-18) to tell the system it's open.  It's a bodge but will do for now.

Accepted a lift from a friend of a friend with a Tesla.

On the A14 the stupid piece of shit mistook a gantry for a wall and phantom braked.
'Oh yeah, it does that sometimes,' he said.
Oh, really? Well, I'm not OK with that. A lorry nearly flattened us, and you're willingly driving around* with this thing freaking out at gantries?!

Not getting in a Tesla again. Fuck that.
The bloke driving didn't even say sorry.
Perhaps you can get the self-drive to take you to EMR Metals, mate, then forget to get out, yeah? Perhaps it'll crash into a gantry/wall on the way there, and you can save everyone the hassle.

*By the way, before theTesla apologists come on and point out that you can turn said system off, I really couldn't give a fuck.
People are so bastarding lazy when they drive these days that for every so-called self-aware EV driver, there's 10 more in Model 3s on tick relying on systems that are barely Alpha tested. Keep your shit 1:1 Tamiya cars; I fucking hated them before and hate them even more now. It tried to kill us, I don't care what your 'counter' is. If it can't fucking tell a gantry from a wall, it shouldn't be on the car.

Noted. On the 2/365 days a year I have to drive my mum's ID3, I turn it off.
It's still not a Tesla, which is at least something it has in its favour.

The only person crashing my SEAT will be me, fortunately, because it's too old to have that shit installed.

Having done me for £717 in November for a new heater matrix, the fucking thing has failed. Again.
It's Feb 2025.

Luckily, the work came with a warranty, and I get a courtesy car.

I nearly part caused an accident this morning on the m40... Strolling up lane 2 a car dove out of lane 1 with no indication. I indicated, checked to my left and pulled into l3 mildly sharpish, just as it seems an Astra decided to do the same from somewhere behind me, but booted it, so I ended up pulling right out infront of him 😬 Saw him once he took evasive action and the prick who had pulled out had snuck back across to l1 a bit so we ended up briefly 3 abrest across lanes 2 and 3 horns ablaze😂

I gave a sheepish wave to the astra driver and needed a fag afterwards. I must learn the massive fucking blindspots this new car has, plus once I do the cambelt I could have floored it away more than I did which would have eased the situation.

As Harry said, just like a proper qashqai driver 😂

Dad's hates the traffic being at a dead stop infront of it. I had it happen again on the m6 last Friday night. We went from 60 down to about 35 when it just beeped at me and stopped braking...

I was more prepared for it this time so just braked myself but the beep made dad shit himself 🙄

If your rolling along and the speed change is gradual it's fine, but I end up covering the pedals most of the time just incase now, as my brain would have wandered off too far to catch it when it does happen otherwise.

Plus I bet the car freaks out and goes hands off conveniently at the timing that a black box/insurance read of the ecu after the crash would out the blame solely on the driver having had "adequate time to stop within the letter of the law" despite maybe not having touched a pedal for the preceding 200 miles 😬

By the time I've peered at the dash to work out wtf it wants the message has gone/I've already crashed usually 😂

Dad's old ioniq used to do the same beep for please coast' or 'lead car pulling away' as it does for bad things which is really fucking distracting until you get used to it. The current enyaq is better at presenting the info, but does more of it 😡

Unless of course, because it's electronic, you've decided to put it on, on which case at 70, it's even more irrelevant to tell me with a message on the dash.

I think even I'd notice that....

Oh no, in a skoda youd get it confusing the 30mph little road running next to/crossing over the a47 with the nsl road your on. It'll then brake itself VERY FUCKING HARD down to hit that speed that it now thinks it should be doing 😂

It's why I cover the pedals alot now in it. To recover from the above once I noticed as we scrubbed off speed I hit the throttle but too hard, thrusting it into 'here we fucking go' mode and off we fucked going faster than we were before and jerky with it 😡

As you finish fucking about and settle back down you have to be in manual mode anyway as the car still thinks it's in a fucking 30 as its not seen a new sign to update it since so it tells you off for exceeding the speed limit by a shocking 40mph*. I had it do that for 15 mines before as a lorry bloody hid the only repeater on the a14 for bloody ages.

It's got another spot on the a16 just past crowland where you exit the 60mph averages and it thinks it's 70 so launches you up.10mph in a fraction of a second, before braking heavily by itself for the roundabout 3/4 a mile ahead! It's fun now I expect it... 😂

In this here modern world loads of folk never fill their kitchen sink. Have seen and fitted many without an actual plug.

Still haven't replaced our council spec sink here. Has a plug on a chain. This would be handy if the chain was attached to something though it does add help finding the plug when i need it for washing up.

Oh goodie. 'Team update' meeting put into my calendar for 9:30am at 4:55pm yesterday. Only just saw it as accidentally went onto work emails rather than personal ones.

Looks like it's to do with the replacement (or lack thereof) for someone who resigned last week... but having been through redundancy once and had a couple more scares since in my short 8 or so years of proper employment, it always brings an overwhelming sense of dread when invites like that show up.
