My back has given out again, it's been a bit moody since I moved all the panels for the new garage, but on Thursday whilst attempting to put on my trousers, it pinged completely.

Not as bad as the last event that left me laid up for the thick end of 2 weeks, and indeed I have managed a fair bit of walking over the weekend, but only with the aid of my walking stick.  I'm 41 for fuck's sake, I should have liked to have been able to get on with things for a little bit longer really.

I've the (sold) berlingo on the drive awaiting it's floor repair, the new garage to put up plus all the day to day gardening etc to contend with, so I'm really rather fed up with everything at the moment.

My cat was admitted to the vet on Sunday evening and I have received almost no updates or information since.

And I called 1 hour ago and asked for it and they were supposed to call me back which they have not done.

How difficult is it to provide any kind of customer service and understand that someone is worried about their animal and needs updates.

I'm really angry now, I have a sick cat and don't know anything, if they can't be bothered to give me a proper update then I'll have to consider driving down there and refuse to go until someone can bother to tell me something.

I'd find another vet @Dyslexic Viking, we've got multiple animals, if I'm not getting the service I want from one supplier, I'll take my business elsewhere.

The vets we use currently are pretty good, albeit not cheap, one of our elderly cats had to take the one way trip last month, it was £142.

They did send us a bunch of flowers a day or two later with a 'sorry for your loss' card

This is the 3 vet in less than 8 years. It is almost impossible to find a good one,  typical of society today nobody cares and is only at work to get a salary.

The veterinary situation is so bad that I doubt whether I want more animals after this one.

That’s pretty much how the NHS treated my Dad before he died a couple of years ago. He was admitted to hospital about 3 weeks before he died and due to his ward being on Covid lock down we couldn’t visit. Despite this, no one made any effort to keep us informed about his condition, then about 4 days before he died they said he was getting x,y and z treatment and they made out he was getting better.

Next (and only second call in 3 weeks), they tell us he died.

Since Friday I've been feeling rougher and rougher. I thought it was just a "change in weather" thing but last night it turned into a full blown flu.

It started with minor headache that I'd struggle even to call an ache in the head, more a mild annoyance. When I came home from work on Saturday morning I thought a good sleep would sort it out, but I woke up feeling rougher and continued to feel like this until last night.

I dropped off a vehicle for someone thinking that a nice shower, some fresh air and some good concentration would see me right as rain. Nope, last I coughed so much my back nearly gave out. Then I started hallucinating whilst trying to get some sleep, forcibly making my brain think about how AI is forcing its way into selling you stuff you need and how annoying I was finding it, it also focussed on a very certain part of Belgium that I rarely take much notice of.  (When I had Covid back in 2020, my hallucination was thinking I was Robert McCall in a 1980s episode of The Equalizer looking for my S3 black Jaguar) also yesterday I managed to trap a nerve in my shoulder, tried having a warm bath and it's made no difference. 

I bought and took a covid test and thankfully it was negative. However the severity of it coming on has really put me out. Hopefully on the mend now, but may have to take the rest of the week off work due to their absence policy.

My estate is turning to shit got a little bit closer to home overnight. I illegally* looked out the front window this morning to see the cunts stood around looking glum. The cuntmobile is parked minus number plates, so be on a dodgy one by now.

There was a community meeting a few days back, where the police wanted to know if anyone has any ideas why it's going to shit. Dunno officers, can't be anything to do with the council using OAP maisonettes as a dumping ground for druggies, crims and other workshy twats could it?

On the brightside, when mrs. CND reports her stolen number plates hopefully cars with that plate will be stopped. So she'll have to not do illegal things herself for a while.

Doing a mate a favour by trying to fix his PS5. It gets to about 80% and then gives the highly informative message "Can't complete the update" but at least there's an error code that should tell me what went wrong. Type that error code into Google and there's not one single result on the entire internet, not even on Sony's official PS5 support page. Try again and get a different error code. This time the only hit is a Reddit post saying this error code has no known meaning and even the support agent they spoke to didn't recognise it. What is the bloody point of defining an error code if you're not going to document it anywhere or even tell the people you've employed to support the thing WTF it means?!

No, your in the wrong for trying to fix it. They won't give the codes as they don't want you to repair it... 

Tried searching the error code on youtube? If it's. A known issue someone will have found it and maybe even have a fix 🤞🤞

Officially signed off work for 2 weeks pending a face-to-face appt. with the doctor to rule out anything physical.  From the brief discussion on the phone today to determine what to put on the sick note it was determined to be probably stress, but they want to be extra sure so the sick note diagnosis is more of a placeholder thing.  After that it was a trip to the job centre to see how it affects Universal Credit (happily in my case it doesn't, and it's a bit annoying since I was due to close that claim thanks to the new job and work picking up after my work pc died last month) and then a quick stop on the way home to grab a bag of apples.  That was it.  That was all I could do today and now I'm just knackered.

It's amazing how quickly I get exhausted mentally at the moment.  I've gone from being able to do a dozen things in a day with ease and having the energy to maintain two jobs, build a social life, look after an elderly car, take care of friends with their struggles, maintain multiple projects and keep multiple customers up to date, household chores, regular gym attendance, and a myriad bits and pieces on a daily basis... to struggling to deal with one phone call, one face-to-face appointment, five miles of driving, and buying a bag of apples.

I'm a terrible patient, I haven't got time to be ill, I've got too much other actually important shit to be dealing with than whatever stupid stunt my brain/body has decided to pull this time.

Some spineless little shit cloned my card. Unluckily for them the bank blocked all transactions and actually called me to check if any were legit. This might have something to do with me complaining last time that the first I knew of a problem was the card not working. Only when I spoke to them was this explained.

This time it was an attempt at buying PAYG credit and, probably, other stuff.

Last time someone tried to use it at.... a beauty parlour!

Still, credit to the bank for doing their job and preventing any loss to me.

New boiler man came to grandparents today for a service

same company that’s been doing it for the past 20+ years

anyway, refused to do the service citing the immediately dangerous flue and kitchen extractor position

i mean, yeah, I sort of get it but it’s been in since 1996 and no one has died

then said these boilers are illegal and you have to have a combi fitted asap

glad I was there, essentially told him to piss off 

anyway, what’s with these newly qualified jumped up mid 20s or whatever they are just acting really cocky?

boiler is staying, it’s never ever had a breakdown so why replace it

got someone else coming during the week

tradespeople really do take the piss sometimes

Unfortunately he is 100% correct regarding the flue position. The fact that its the same company is irrelevant. The  gas certificate will be issued in the individual  fitters name and if it goes tits up he personally will be in court facing manslaughter charges.  Dont expect a different result with a different company, It will be up to the operative who attends on the day.

Yes in hindsight I can completely see that, it was more his attitude really, very snotty which was my reason for telling him to piss off, was just rude really

Update on this - he took it to a specialist who diagnosed a faulty blu ray drive. The stupid thing is a working blu ray drive is not required to install updates via USB or internet so that error condition is totally unnecessary.

This is a long-standing Sony thing, dating back to PS3. Is the optical drive dead or not connected? Nothing starts and nothing updates. Same with any other hardware module that's not really necessary.

Car grumpiness today 

Mini is on few more days of work left since end of June. I started pushing for it to be finished a month or so ago as we’re in the final stretch of nice weather, and once it goes to shit it’s only going to sit in a garage. There’s a cars and coffee meet 6th of October I was really hoping to make. Today I get a call the specialist is going on a holiday, and he’s coming back 30th of September, making chances of getting to that meet 0% and driving it in any leftover nice weather minimal. I understand his personal life has been all over the place lately, but at this point I’m not even mad. I’m just...disappointed.  

I’m getting a bit* fed up of cars and all this lately. Yugo Cabrio was also supposed to be done ages ago and I was looking forward to that as well, but nope. I skipped proper holiday this year because I was fucking about with these. I spent an entire year waiting for “just a few more days/weeks” before I get to enjoy any of the cars I spent over 10 grand in parts and labor. I dread calculating the actual cost as it’s probably closer to 15. Alas, it’s end of the nice weather season, both are still in pieces and not done yet. Is it too much to ask for a drive in something you spent so much time, money and energy on?

In other car related grumpiness - Tax authorities of Serbia have determined that Yugo I paid 300€ the other day for is worth 1850€, according to the tax I’ve just paid. I’d be really interested in selling it to them for that money.  🙄

This is how a 'quick' lunchtime job of dropping off some broken laminate flooring at the dump and grabbing a few things from Tesco turns into an all-day saga.

Bet you there's a screw lodged in it; bloody staff at the dump can never be bothered sweeping up.

Turns out my breaker bar has a 17mm and 19mm reversible socket on the end, but the Corolla has 21mm wheelnuts.

Well well well. Who knew? Not me.

And there's no-one down the town who can sell me a 1/2" drive 21mm socket. The tool shop seems to have closed permanently. The motor factor doesn't have any 21mm sockets in stock (but did want to sell me another 17mm/19mm extending breaker bar, identical to the one I already have). Getting desperate now, neither Tesco or Argos had any 21mm sockets included in their cheapo tool sets.

So I'd the pleasure of a long walk home, uphill, on a rather warm day, to fetch my 1/2" sockets...

Can I get back down there again and swap the wheel over before Parking Eye reams my bank account for the crime of overstaying?

😢 I have this coming one day as I know I've got a screw in my rear tyre... I also know I've got the correct size socket on my breaker bar that rolls around in the boot at all times 👌 Until then I'll continue to get some use* from the tread (it's on the rear, it doesn't wear 🤣)
