A VFR flight today is not really any different to a VFR flight at any point during the history of manned flight.  The onus is on the pilot to look out of the window and make sure (s)he doesn't hit anything.  If other aircraft are in blind spots, then they aren't visible..

And most mid air collisions happen near an airport in the landing pattern... Guessing that's what happened here

Doesn't look like much landing pattern going on there🤔

Better than any heated airer or vented tumble dryer in terms of damp would be a standard clothes horse and a proper dehumidifier.

Solve two problems at once, dry your clothes and reduce the levels of damp in your home

I use an ancient wooden one.  A hand-me-down that I have had for forty years.  No dehumidifier though, just bung it in a spare bedroom and crack the window.  Other stuff in the boiler cupboard.

Gave the condensing dryer to my son, he has nowhere to hang washing other than his garden, not much use in winter.

Just received a call from a private number.

It was muted. But in an attempt to unmute it, my phone screen flipped and I pressed hang up instead.

I've entered a few competitions lately.

Fuck :(

Phones are a nightmare.  I often have to restart mine to get rid of shit off the screen, won't swipe away. (Not literal shit).

Was just falling asleep, about 3 a.m. and the room lit up with a yell of "Hello Moto".  Blasted thing had updated and was keen to let everyone know.  At least it has stopped calling 999 every couple of days.

Aircobra pilot couldn't have seen B17 until last second - it would have been under his Aircraft.

Very sad.

My GP appears to have removed my steroids from my repeat prescription. I had to get my last ones via 111 as the prescription had not been processed. It was on "hold."

I actually need these to breathe. The GP's who are not specialists don't understand this.

I have emailed the asthma unit I attend to ask them to contact my GP to make them aware what could happen if I don't have a rescue pack in the house.

Ma picked up the aldi upcoming tat book. Oh, air fryer. You can get me one of those on Sunday?

Er, no.

Strategically planned nearby aldi's. We can be at the opening of that one at 10 am, there's another 3 minutes drive away, and if that fails there's one that opens at 11 am.

Aldi 1: Huge queue before opening. Man behind us says "nobody is here for carrots". Zero fryers.
Aldi 2: No fryers, no empty space where fryers had been previously.
Aldi 3: Half hour before opening. Employee comes out and says we have 2 fryers.

So where is all the stock? On ebay at £70 more than the shop. Guess the aldi staff have had a nice day flipping.

Tat is probably right. Though I do have a £4 Asda kettle for my staff in one shop that's at least 10 years old.

My daughter has similar problems as there are three different sources of her prescriptions and coordinating them seems to be virtually impossible.

No internet or phone all weekend, nearly an hour on hold to moan and still haven't spoken to a cunt about it.

Biggest problem recently has been lack of pharmacist on premises so unable to give anything out until they come in (locum)

The Lloyds here in bagshot won’t even open if there isn’t a pharmacist present. Over the last year or two it is closed more often than open. Pretty much everyone has moved to lightwater and expect the bagshot one to close permanently.

Old fella from the next village came into the workshop and asked if I could do a safety inspection on his car. It's a 1952 Vauxhall so MoT exempt and the last time I MoT'd the car was six years ago. Got it on the ramp and he tells me the brakes are dodgy and there is a horrible knock from the back. I ask him when did he last use the car " a couple of months ago. Went to see a ploughing competion at Little Bytham"  that's about 20 miles away.

Up in the air I jack the front up and straight away notice the nearside wheel bearing is loose. The brake drum is moving with the wheel so is probably pushing the shoes which are then pushing the piston into the wheel cylinder. That might be the dodgy brakes as you would have to push the pedal further down to take up the slack in the wheel cylinder. " I replaced that wheel bearing the other week" was the response. Moving to the back of the car. " found a new old stock genuine exhaust, fitted that last year "   Oh that explains the completely flattened metal brake pipe across the nearside of the axle then. Another reason for the dodgy brakes. The exhaust is a good 15cm above the axle so the crushed pipe could only be from removing the old one or fitting the new one. Moving to the drivers side he tells me of the bargain he got . A couple of years ago he had a broken leafspring and the main agent wanted over £200 for one. "got this new spring for 40 quid,my son helped me fit it"  Maybe your horrible knock is because the U bolts are loose. The axle is moving, look I can move this securing plate with my fingers.

Sadly I think this old fella needs to close his toolbox, put a lock on it and lose the key.

Hope they’re not heavy bikes, would lighten the steering quite a bit!

Might not be a bad thing, those 121s are surprisingly heavy on the steering for such a small car.

That's the point on the East Coast main line where Mallard broke the world steam speed record in 1938, which it still holds.  A pub in the village was named The Mallard in honour of the event but I'm not sure it's still there.

Just thought I'd tell you that for no real reason.

(edit) Just looked on Streetview - it's now a private house instead of a pub, but it is named Mallard House.

She has them delivered so that isn't really a problem.  She did used to collect them but more often than not they would be short of some items so she ended up having to go daily instead of once a month.

I have been to collect on occasion and had to go to the GP and two hospitals , one twenty miles away, to collect prescriptions then two pharmacies for them to be filled.  Even then there were shortages.

And late wife's Kindle died.  It has been unable to display pictures for a couple of months, then just stopped doing anything.  No response to any of the keys or buttons.

Took the battery out and the page it stopped on is still displayed, two days on.  Replacing the battery does nothing.

Have you tried using pharmacy2U ?

I used to spend what felt like days walking back & forth between the surgery & the chemist, each blaming the other for the lack of my very simple prescription. Although you have to order in plenty oif time, they've not fucked up in five years or more. Its NHS & its free.

Finally managed to get MK Council to supply a replacement green waste bin for our one that was nicked a couple of months ago.

Yay!

Except they've replaced a full size wheelie bin with this thing.

IMG_20221115_135437.jpg

That's going to be good for about 2/3rds of a lawn's worth of clippings if that.

Oh well, it's better than nothing I guess!

Also, despite the roofing work above one area being completed at the end of last week we still have water getting in there.  Which means the flashing or the wood panelling above the conservatory is shot as well.

IMG_20221115_141148.jpg

Deep joy...so the £31K and counting re-roofing hasn't actually done a damned thing to fix the really annoying water ingress problem we were aware of.  Yay!

Additional: Migraines can get in the sodding sea.

Our wonderful Liverpool council is thinking of extending it parking charges period from 6pm to 11pm ... Whoopie

6pm onwards is the only time I go in unless my son is with me and has his blue badge . Otherwise its the bus or train which sort of seriously curtails my shopping carrying capacity thanks to my op scars.

Not only that the traffic system is a absolute shambles , every junction has a traffic light system that is always on red .the lime Street chaos that has cut the town in half ,the strand "improvements".

Which again my op scars kick off with all the clutch work ...

No wonder the shops are dying ..and Amazon etc  is popular ...

Vesta chow mein.

I fancied a time warp 1970's experience to go with rampant inflation and strikes.

Imagine my disgust when I discovered the crispy noodles have been replaced with lentil curls that look like ingrown toe nails.

Stop the world. I want to get off.
