2 minutes into Dr Who and my phone has rung 3 times with a withheld number.

People who know me well know it is a very bad time to want to contact me!

I tried the no alcohol beers twice, the second time was to test that the first was a one off, thumping headache both times. Lesson learnt.

Same here, worst hangover ever was after a night on Kaliber. Makes you wonder what shite they replace the alcohol with.

Can we change Nando’s name too as it’s not just for Nannas?

Nannas?  Are they the ones that used to knit Shreddies?

A few days ago the Discovery turned over slowly as I tried starting it first thing. The battery is old but with the charger on the next morning it struck up straight away. I've still got the new one I bought for the diesel c-max back in January I'll fit that.Hmm, terminals are the wrong way round. The positive will fit but not the negative. No problem I can make a new earth lead.Ah this battery is smaller and the positive cable will be resting on the air-con metal pipe. Not good.So block of wood under the battery before clamping it down.Works a treat.

Yesterday morning struggled to turn over and only just started.Bugger the smaller battery obviously doesn't have the cranking amps. After work a brand new battery was purchased at great expense.Old earth lead back on and away we go.Except..........turned over slow again this morning.

Investigate starter motor when time allows then.

What era Disco? When I had mine, it tried earthing the engine through the handbrake cable. Made a right sodding mess of the cable! Apparently, it's a trick they like doing.

It wasn't meant to be an attack. I was amused by the irony of someone going onto a grumpy old man thread to complain about a grumpy man venting.

I do think that in this day and age that having a grumpy old man thread is sexist. I am offended. It should be called the grumpy person thread.

Ah. Guess there was a dig at me then. If it makes you feel better, I went onto the grumpy old man thread to complain about a grumpy man venting because said sexist/plain insulting venting made me grumpy, so surely that means genuine grump reason? As it happens, Panda's response to my post made me definitely not grumpy.

On whose behalf were you offended?

I’m just having a similar discussion on FB with a friend who is glad that Sean(n) is off of Strictly because he snogged the fitty in an alleyway.

It would seem many women are offended and upset on behalf of his ex girlfriend. When I said there are two people who are allowed to be offended, and you are neither, it was received as well as a fart in a lift.

I didn’t see any of the previous fall out on here so can’t comment. But I do get grumpy about people being offended on behalf of others, and that’s my grump.

Where do we stop? “Old” being ageist? I’ve always felt the thread title was a figure of speech- just as you don’t have to be old, you don’t have to be male to be grumpy either.

I must say I wasn’t sure why “stupid question amnesty” was renamed as IMO the spirit of the phrase was self deprecation and not aimed with malice at anyone.

To be fair...poor rail adhesion does make it pretty tough on the railway. I think a train slid something like 230m through a signal a little while ago down here.

 NOT A GRUMP....

Our local station was at the end of a 4 mile straight, I once stood in awe as the (steam powered) express slid right past the platform with its wheel locked. Leaves on the line!

Someone called Women 'snakes with tits'. Of course they aren't (all), but really..................? I'm too old a bunny to get in a froth over that tbh.

If I offend person A, I would expect person A to tell me, or at least ask a mod to tell me, and dependent on the content / comment, I'll probably apologise to person A, but it won't stop me making comments in general.

Being offended on person A's behalf baffles me somewhat. Unless you are person A's guardian and they are incapable of raising the issue, just scroll past and move on.

I have two friends who are different to me in some ways, both of whom have had people become offended on their behalf - exhibit A is Blind Trev, who some of you will have met.... he's registered blind and his name is Trevor; it's not a clever nickname.... I have been chastised by a third party for calling him Blind Trev, as apparently it's offensive. She was fine with other people calling ME Fat Bob though.......Another is an Indian chum called Dee, aka Monkey Boy. There's absolutely nothing racist about his name - remember "Why Is Everybody Picking On Me?" by Bloodhound Gang? He stole my Cd single copy of that because he loved the song,  and the last line "Because nobody likes you Monkey Boy" apparently applies to him, because of a previous conversation about a work apprasial where he wrote "Nobody likes me" in the comments...... Obviously "offended from Purfleet" threatened to have me removed from a bar when overhearing me telling MB to "fuck off and swing on your tyre"... that didn't end well, with Dee assurung them in no uncertain terms that he's more than capable of being offended for himself.

Anyway.

TL:DR

Calm down, if you don't like it scroll past.

Play nicely, don't be a twat.

One post moaning about another post, then a gazillion moaning about how someone moaning upsets them. and all on a grumpy thread

My grump is that I have a bit of foam insulation in my eye and it’s bloody painful, keep trying to flush it out. Next time I will have to dig the goggles out but I look like that Les Dawson character with them on as they are so clouded.

I thought the jet lag I'm suffering from since March is over today, but having been on an aeroplane yesterday sure as fuck gave me another one.

Fucking hand driers.

There are some great ones out there that work very well indeed.

So why oh why would anyone spec a public convenience with those god awful ones that just about manage an asthmatic wheeze of cold air that does nothing to help dry your hands in anyway.

There is no excuse for shit like this in 2018

Are you calling me names? I am offended!

Am I doing this right?

Posted

Depends on who you're talking to!

What a dismal 1000th post. Grumpy now.

Posted

I also think the title change is hilarious.

No need to be offensive to anyone, it's not banter regardless of how outrageous the response may or may not be.

I shall go and re-like a small clarification forthwith

That means the other six dwarves will be offended at getting left out.
