Monday, pay 250 quid for engine and delivery.

Tuesday - Thursday, take time over taking all the bits off the old engine.

Thursday, engine arrives.

Friday, pick up engine crane.

Saturday, take old engine out, put new engine in.

Sunday, try to get engine to start

Monday - Wednesday, try to get fuel pump working.

Thursday, buy new crankshaft sensor and fuel pump relay, fit parts, realise some wiring is plugged in the wrong way round, sort wiring out, fuel gets to engine, engine splutters on turn of key, get told I need to sort the IMMOBILISER wiring out.

Friday, spend entire day trying to sort immobiliser wiring out, with a trip to the scrapyard to pay £1 for an immobiliser wiring loom, spend rest of day trying to mess around with seven wires in various configurations, with no results.

Friday PM - put fist through speedometer.

Feeling your pain Dave, hope you sort it soon.

Tried to get hold of the lad who did engine change in same car, can't get a bloody number for him anywhere sorry.

The only (hopefully useful) bit of gen. I did get was that he used the radiator out a 1.7 dizzler Astra as it fits in better due to being slightly smaller.

Just had a email in regards in a advert on pistonheads for me BMW I've forgotten about.

To whom it may concern, I am from Hong Kong. I am very interested in your BMW 1602. Due to my dad drove a exactly Mercedes when he was young.

Could you send me some additional information, as the following: - What is the mileage of the car?- How is the condition of the engine and the bottom of the car?- Is the painting of the car is original (stock) or repaint?- Is there any rust on the car?- Is there any leaking problem?- History of the car- Recent test result

Since I’m going to import the regarding car to Hong Kong, that will be cost me a lot on the shipping plus the import tax.I am really really interested in your car, would you please lower the price for me in this case? If anything, please feel free to contact me.I look forward to hearing from you!

Thanks & best regards Justin Chan

What a load of old bollocks, Does this sound like spam?, Does to me and why would you discount a car because someone wants to export it?.

Tell him you'll ship the 1602 to Hong Kong if he takes Chris Patten in part ex. Or a Yue Loong Feeling.

Everything works mate, all I need to do is suss out the blue/red wiring that connects to the immobiliser ring on the ignition barrel. Other thing to do is get another dashboard loom with immobiliser wiring and fit that AGAIN. It just hurts to have to get public transport to and from scrapyards!

Trigger,

Right i got the right hump now, That Cortina i missed out on at the weekend has now turned up on ebay, The kunt who bought it was dealer after a quick buck, I'm really fucked off right now as I really did want this car.

Ok, so you spelt it with a 'k', not quite as bad :)

Again not wanting an arguement and understand the frustration, but it was a bit harsh..

Ah furry muff, it was a bit harsh, I was just really angry at the time, I notice that MG 1100 I original was going to bid on that was on eBay for £1850 is also for sale again by a popular Yorkshire dealer for £2495 so goes to show you that it happens all the time.

Yup sounds familiar to me too. I went to view a Morris Oxford on Ebay that was struggling to make a grand a few months back, anyway it was bubbling up in all the usual places, and the underside had loads of rubbish welding. Even looking at it in the rain I could see it was a load of wank. It appeared in last week's Classic Car Weekly, now in Yorkshire, and with a price tag of £1700! It only made £900ish on the Ebay auction, and it wasn't really worth that IMO.

That's sad, but having seen him on telly lately I'm not surprised.

Probably the same seller, Martin Howey. Though TBH i can't see him making a big profit on the MG.

Don't know if anyone knows but I have dumped a 1.8 RS1800 engine into my giffer-spec Fiesta. It's fairly quick now...

..the tracking was way off, the wheels would screech going round a roundabout at 10mph. So I went to get it all checked out at my local tyre place.

They were massively out which wasn't that much of a surprise, so it was all re-adjusted back to spec. So far so good.

Then matey-boy calls me out of the waiting area for me to be told that I have a leaky brake flexi-hose. I had just replaced the other side on Monday and now the other frigging one has gone (I got a little too heavy with the pipe clamps when I was changing the suspension over) - so now I have got to find another flexi. And to add insult to injury, my insurance was transferred over this morning so now I have to borrow a car, plus the Fiesta now has a crack in the headlight caused by a stray stone.

Why the fuck could this not have happened yesterday when places were fucking OPEN!!!

Damn! Didnt know about this until I saw your post!

Sad, was a talent in his day, loved the trick shots he used to do.

RIP Alex Higgins

How can sourcing a Cortina rear axle with 9" brakes be so difficult?

I managed to get an axle within 2 days, but it only had 8" brake backplates. I can't get my old axle apart so replacement 9" backplates or even complete brakes are the answer.

Can I find some? Can I hell

Train and bus to work is now officially crap.

I hate FGW with a passion, I had to use two of their trains today to get to Newbury. Surely they must be the only train company to have not refurbished their stock yet, which is nearly 20 years old. That basically means flat uncomfortable seats, and dingy trains which have all the lighting qualities of a basement. And Sunday timetables are so, so pointless. A train every two hours?!

Hah, try getting a train to Hartlepool from Liverpool. It's a 4.5 hour disaster, finishing with the shitest trains I've tried for the final hurdle.

The Newbury ones are flash in comparison.

Rolling stock does seem to get shitter the further north you go. I'm still hoping that one of my northerly tat collection missions will get me a ride in one of these.

My mum mentioned yesterday that "her car felt wandery" but this was just after she'd had the tracking done, so I presumed that it was sod all.

Had a look at it, and the wishbone bushes on the drivers side are fucked. Not just a bit worn, but completely fucked, hanging off completely.

I replaced both wishbones (Ka) less than 2500 gentle miles ago!

Thing is, it's either buy ford ones at about £70 a side or pattern ones for £15 each.

I might get on to the nobber on ebay who sold them me, but I've got better things to be doing than chasing £15 worth of wishbone. That's not to say I'll be doing these "better" things, I'll probably just sit in the shed reading forums all day.

Hey, Student Finance England!

When I apply for a tuition fee loan and a maintenance grant, I expect to get both as is my entitlement, not two thirds of an arbitrary figure plucked from nowhere. And why in sweet fanny Jesus does it say in the PF1 book that you don't have to pay the maintenance grant back? Why does your form say I have to?

Make no mistake, someone's head is going to roll for this. I have not come this far and got this close to going back to Uni only for some useless twat in an office to ruin my chances due to the slip of a mouse. Where the fuck am I supposed to get 2K from without a loan?

Thanks for ruining my evening. There was an old Citroen I wanted to go and look at with my mate. That's gone to the dog's now, hasn't it? HASN'T IT???!

Hey, Student Finance England!

They're useless. Since I started uni 6 years ago they've randomly sent me the "THIS IS YOUR FINAL PAYMENT SCHEDULE TAKE THIS TO REGISTRATION" letter around every 3 or 4 months. I thought this would stop when I finished uni 2 years ago, but it seems not. Every now and then I get a letter telling me I'm going to be paid 3 chunks of £1500, 3 years ago.

I'm waiting to hear about mine at the moment, I've applied for everything going and if I don't get it I can't afford to do the course (PGCE). Your shite situation has me worried. Hope you can get it sorted with the bare minimum of shouting and swearing, particularly the grant bit, that's why it's called a GRANT not a LOAN.

Ka's eat wishbones. When Ms Gearoil had hers it'd had 3 sets in its 90'000 odd mile life, Delphi branded ones from a motor factors did alright and about £15-£20 a side.

Cheers, I'll see if I can get Delphi ones this time.

30k would be excellent. I'd settle for 15 tbh.

My last cheap wishbones for my old mk3 fiesta (more or less the same part) lasted about 7k. I should really have learned my lesson.
