The grumpy thread

I am interested in Duncan's (Bobthebeard) 75, once the MOT results are in, I was unaware that Ken was selling one too.

Oops.  Edited.

Why does there always have to be on prick at work that makes everyone so fucking angry? Literally walked in this morning and started moving my things around and when I objected, looked at me as if I’d slapped his favourite aunt.

My boss has got my back but doesn’t seem to be able to get rid of him...

The company a mates wife works for caught a woman stealing from the office but were to scared to sack her because she's pregnant so she got a warning.

I feel the need to lob in a non-grump here, just to prove that not everyone on here has an absolutely terrible view of women, or regards them as only useful for a bit of bedroom acrobatics. There are some mad ones about, that I know, but then there are plenty of blokes I wouldn't want to share a lift with either.

Agreed - I am not a fan of being vilified just for being a bloke so I'd be mad to dish out the same in reverse.

These are similar to the calipers I fitted to madam's pushbike. Not the usual side pull jobs.

I've never had a bike fitted with this type of caliper crap out on me.

We used to call those centre pull brakes when I was a nipper and they are OK in the form posted - but I had some cheapo pressed steel ones that were impossible to stop vibrating and therefore squeaking IMHO cheap V brakes are better than cheap centre pull ones.

My issue here is the one person who is angry all the time. Even threw a strop when we were all offered some easy overtime.

Surely the only response to an offer of overtime is yes or no?

Leaves the door open for unfair dismissal claims of anyone who isn't pregnant gets caught.

[kiltox’s weekly “conveyancers / house buying can get in the sea post]

FFS

Saw perfect house last Monday which went on the market on the Friday. Phoned up immediately with a view to seeing it on Friday. 7 days after it went on the market.

They had 8 viewings on the Saturday and 3 offers and they consider it sold at more than the asking price.

crap.

Not hanging around, then.

Client of mine inherited a house from an old friend of hers - she put it on the market (it was in Willesden) and was deluged by offers - she took the highest one which was £200k more than the valuation. Capital Gains Tax was interesting.....

I need a certain piece of information for a work purpose.

Person who originally had this information took a photo of his phone screen and emailed the photo to someone in my organisation.

This person opened the photo, took a screengrab of her entire desktop screen, pasted the screengrab into a Word document, and emailed the document to me.

Is this some sort of elaborate joke, or do they actually believe this is the way to get things done?

See also a billion eBay and Gumtree listings - seems to be the way things are done in the instagram generation.

In a weird way it reminds me of my mate who used to work in a factory.  One day he had to go to see the accountant - in the only air conditioned part of the building.  It was a very hot day and he walked in, dripping in sweat to find her with a fan heater going full tilt under her desk because the aircon was "making it too cold".  :)

Been asked if I’ll wait in to collect a £10 Pressure Washer at... wait for it... midnight. Gumtree at its best!

We've been trying to sell a £10 portable radiator and kept getting asked if we'd deliver, for free, up to 20 miles away.

Someone took it eventually, we left it outside and they put cash through the door. Just not worth the effort for a tenner but we didn't want it to go to waste.

That reminds me, the jet washer at the garage where my lad used to work had the lance mounted to the wall on hooks.

If you put it back facing left, you could get the trigger facing the wall mounted coin slot. You can probs imagine the fun I’d have setting it up while I waited for my lad to knock off work.

Colleague just handed his notice in.

Back down to a department of 1, workload of 3.

Just what I wanted on Monday morning.

What a cunt!, banned for two races, he should be applying for a job at the local DIY store just after they've shredded his racing licence

Lifetime ban for that.

I've got a good friend with a van who can help luckily. I'm annoyed that nowadays they expect you to find 4 weeks advance rent even though I'm on housing benefit.

ah yes the technically renting two places at once "got you by the bolox" bullshit

Bub, surely your deposit is in a scheme these days so can't it just be transferred to the new property? I thought that was one of the reasons the law got changed in the last few years.

HGV was closer than I thought, mates girlfriend said that she thought she'd felt the Hyundai move. I spotted a black scuff mark on the rear quarter panel at about waist height. A gnats whisker closer at around 50 or 60mph would have been horrendous.

I'd love to have a serious word with the cunt of a driver, 'have a word' is clearly a euphemism for something much, much worse.

Jeez Ken, at least you are still here to grump about it. Many others weren’t as lucky.

SD1 V8 starter motor. What a pain the arse. Two Allen screws with no access. And when you are lying on your back no leverage. If I cannot remove it I sweat i'll break it up - this car has resisted all my attempts at saving it.

I will have to cut down an 8mm allen key and see if that works.
