The grumpy thread

Oh yes, I'm not casting aspersions on the actual fillum.  I usually enjoy a Hollywood version of warfare, and might even enjoy this.  But... Dunkirk was a British operation entirely, America wasn't even in the war at that point, so why does the release date need to be announced in American?

U-571, part two.  No doubt the British Expeditionary Force will be saved from annihilation on the beaches by the timely intervention of the US Marine Corps, historical accuracy and suspension of disbelief notwithstanding.  I'll still go and see it, though.

Semper Fi, muddy funsters.

Just seen a trailer on telly for the new Dunkirk movie.  "In cinemas July 21."

Twenty-one.

AAARGH!

I think you mean July the twenty-first, not July four years from now!

Film.

On my 1-series, if the auto wipers leap into action 3 times in a minute then the lights come on, and go off if there's been a couple of minutes without a wipe.

Yet they're not affected by going under bridges. I very, very rarely have to turn them on manually (sometimes in really light mist that doesn't cause the wipers to fire up - but anything resembling fog they light up ok)

I didn't know any of them did. It'd be a lot more use in improving road safety if they all did rather than pointless DRLs.

Film.

I grew up with a Dublin-born father.  "Film" isn't a word.  "Fillum" is.

Just seen a Lidl advert on telly for school uniform with the 'back to school' crap all over it.

Bugger me they haven't even broken up yet and there they are shoving them back!

Mum's Bini has auto wipers and auto xenon lights. The rain sensor is actually OK but the intermittent wipe is hidden somewhere daft. The auto lights don't really work and just turn on as soon as you press the stall regardless of conditions.

I'll forgive it though as you can turn the DRLs off in the settings menu

Good, annoying little buggers being out there enjoying life when I'm stuck at work.

Full time school might mean they don't all leave as useless thick idiots too.

Except for the 51st Highland Division, who will no doubt be left again at St. Valery on Churchill's orders.

Schools would do better to work with childrens strengths rather than insisting on compliance with the latest policy u turn and that every square peg must be made to fit a round hole. Holidays or lack of wouldn't make any difference if you aren't learning

Just spent the last 3 hours fitting a electric boot popper kit to the wifes Mgf.

Checked it first and apart from a minor discrepancy in the wiring diagram it worked fine.

Installed it and wired it up to find that it couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding!!

Works fine when it's not connected to the lock cable but doesn't when connected.

Piece of shit.

Sold some Vanden Plas 1500 hubcaps via the Allegro club on Facebook. Sent then with MyHermes. Buyer asked at 15.12 if I'd sent them. Checked Hermes and they'd left them in the porch at 15.15, 3 minutes after the seller queried where they were.

"We don't have a porch"

Ffs! What's going on? Checked on street view and none of the estate has a porch or anything like a porch. This'll be the first one Hermes have lost (I assume the buyer isn't pulling a fast one)

May put in a claim early doors.

Maybe they meant Porsche and it drove off?

But the teachers wouldn't get 8 weeks holiday

The poor darlings.

Spoke too soon! Someone was in so the parcel was delivered to the correct address. Not sure where "left in porch" came from.

My lovely little AX has a leaky sunroof. How leaky? A huge puddle in the footwell leaky....

On a less grumpy note it really is rust free for a MK1 AX. Thats probably due to it being welded a fair bit. Quite amazing it's still going.

I want to whine about litter again. I got home at 1:30am the other day, and there were a couple of bottles and cans on the ground near the car (there always are) but since it's recycling bin day I ended up risking a reputation as 'litter weirdo' and walking the entire length of the street putting the many, many bottles and cans in the closest bins.

But what really annoyed me is the knowledge that 100 houses put out their bins that evening, and dozens of them didn't bother to pick up the litter immediately in front of them. The people passing through don't give a shit, and the people living on the street don't give a shit either. It's tiring.

If they have a front garden, just lob it all in there. I find that works quite well.

Sounds exactly like our street in Yobvil. Why put you litter in the bin ( most people keep the bins out front) when it is far easier to drop it in the street.
