Why, oh why have Portsmouth council decided it's a good idea to dig up 2 adjacent roads (for different reasons) at the same time. Both would make an ideal diversion for the other, but with both out at the same time it's causing chaos...

Surrey seem adept at that. So much so, that I think they do it on purpose.

Gentlemen, I invite you to experience the joy that is Stafford.  It took me 45 minutes to go a single mile this afternoon - and less than half that time to complete the rest of my 12 mile journey - thanks to Severn Trent Water digging BFO holes in the A34 then pissing off home because the rain was a bit cold.

Getting conned!

Bought a right lemon last Sunday in the form of that 406. It's all fixable, but fucking hell, 'drives perfect' as the advert claims it does not.

Try having 80 miles ahead of you with both wheel bearings bonking away with a trailer full of car behind you. The clutch is fucked. It Judders from a standstill, shaking the whole car. The central locking locks when it feels like it. Left the car running and it locked the doors with me outside. The ciggie light is so full of food particles, detritus and general fluff and crap I couldn't charge my sat nav and got lost.

I bought a rear quarter for an RX7 from a scrapyard in Wigan. Got a quote for 100 quid or 160 delivered. Went in last week and paid up front and collected it tonight. The rear quarter was fucked but it's cut out and paid for now. I find out the sheisters have charged 200 quid on my card.

Just put a dispute in with your cc company you will get that back no bother. I would be telling them you didn't authorise any of it, the fuckers.

Not long enough!

I'm not a bell end, I accept faults.

I've done it too, sometimes the full shittiness of a car isn't evident on a quick test drive.

Who's tried to drive an auto that won't idle? I don't want to do it again!

This is an essential Autoshiter skill, along with three-pedal pull aways in a manual because the handbrake is shafted, and limping a car home with a failed condenser/radiator/big end bearing.

I'll just forget about it, they made an invoice with 200, I haven't got a leg to stand on. I'll just never pay up front or be blasse in any future transactions.

I'm too embarrassed to post up the photo of what I paid 200 for, I feel like a complete mug. 200 quid!

Could you get it knocked out enough to fit a wide body kit to it? There are some nice rx-7 kits out there. It certainly wouldn't be the first car to be fixed that way.

You need to here . In Yeovil there are 18 weeks of road works to change one of the major roundabouts into a roundabout! I'm sure they are just trying to use the budget up before the end of the year. Either that or Highways are a bunch of shit licking cunts that are trying to compete with that there London in gridlock wars!

Pfffft..... British Gas

These twunts are the bane of my life at the moment...

a) They've tried three times to charge me for gas used by the previous owner of our house.

B) They've sent me several wrong bills which required phone calls each time, finally we might have the right-ish bill.

c) They royally cocked up our homecare and promised me a call to sort it out. No phone call. So I call then a week later. The lady you need isn't in, she'll call you tomorrow. Another week later I phone and this time the manager will phone you tomorrow. That was a week ago.

So fed up of calling them... How hard can it be you get a job right!!

Wednesday morning, I left for work at 7:15 (having a "midnight flit" at dawn), and arrived at 8:55.  Total mileage: 3.2, from Fishponds in Brizzle to near the centre.

Fishponds high street?  0.6 miles in 55 minutes.  I sat 100 yards from a set of lights with the ignition off for 3 cycles of the lights.

NCAP, 1-upmanship consumerism and driving like utter fannies - you can get a Smart in the gaps people leave - are causing a great deal of the congestion.

How come, if you went in and paid for it in person?

Paid by card on machine, stupidly didn't check amount.

I know it's a 'specialist' car and I was happy to pay £100 but ...

End of the financial year. Kent are brilliant at it-nothing all year, then in March suddenly every other road is being repaired.

Posted

Is that true? I thought the reason for repairing roads in early spring is that winter frosts damage freshly laid tarmac.

That logic would infer some thought for the condition of the roads. Don't be daft.

That RX7 r/q is not fit for purpose, invoice or not, and they know it.  Reject in writing, and claim from your card provider as previously suggested.

me dad worked for a local authority for 30 odd years, and yes it is true.

the mad rush to make sure that the years budget is spent does happen in all departments, cos if they don't spend all the money, the left over is take off of the next years budget as a fine.

so the money MUST be spent, even if they know that they are wasting it on utter tosh.

now how fuggin' stupid is that!

Doesn't that only work with credit cards?

Posted

True.

If it was a debit card, go trading standards/small claims on their ass.

Torbay council are doing just the same - getting around anywhere here is a nightmare - got to be spent before April!

Station, that wing is a fucking joke mate. If it's a credit card, do a cash back recall thing and let the supplier worry about getting their wing back. Taking the piss.

WTAF with that quarter????? Did you actually point out to them that its utterly fucked? Perhaps they didn't notice*. Did it have that massive dent in it before they cut it off?

As a fellow Yeovilite, I share your pain...........looks like they haven't finished yet, either!

Had to put Grolsch down this morning..

Les than 2 years old, his head wasn't right, and nothing I tried made things better.

Expert help ran out yesterday, and a long sleep was the only answer.

Miss you chum. Shot to bits right now

Oh shit, sorry to hear that, Nigel.

Todays mission:

Can I sell a 1998 Corsa B 1.2 that's quite tidy with MOT until August for £70 because the engine's smoky? Not looking good so far, I've had the usual chancers/timewasters/lunatics on to me already. Tomorrow I'm switching some good bits off it and the scrapyard can have it for £40.

Debit card - and it is not fit for purpose. I'll only be used the front half, but they've even managed to put a dent in that. Also stated I NEED it cutting at the seam in the middle of the sill - the lopped it off on the corner.

I'll put this down to experience (again).

I've already got a complete shell for it - I'm going down to check ever minutiae of it, if there's a single knock I'm heading back without it, but hopefully will be fine as its getting resprayed as well.

I'm taking the engine out of this and putting it into that. I'm half joking going to put a 1.6 mx5 engine into it or even a turbo diesel ... but then it starts making sense this would be a good idea ...

So sorry about your dog mate. Deepest sympathies :(
