TBF, it has never changed in all these years, whether I was driving an Escort van or an ERF.   I think it's universal.

Everything anyone owns has been on the back of a van or lorry at some point, a bit more respect wouldn't do amiss

I drove 7.5 tonners for a bit and wouldn't want to do that again,

Fucking Money.

It's December. Ebay should be raking in the cash, but it's complete dog shit. 50% turnover at best. Amazon has gained a complete wanker who thinks making 12p profit per item is a real good idea. So I can either make 12p also or sell nothing.

Naturally kinky girl is burning a shitload of cash at the same time.

I can survive for some time on reserves built from when I was a single spacker with no life, but it's not doing me any good at all. I can feel mental health going downhill, and soon the snowball will be the size of the fucking huge rock from indianna jones.

Sounds daft but is the door shut right? Every few months I go through an "ah shit, the washer's broken, WHY WON'T YOU WORK?!" then notice the door isn't *quite* shut properly...

The door was shutting fine, and locking.

Funnily enough, I came downstairs this morning, saw the machine still sat there idle, thought "fuck it" and pressed the "start" button again, and off it went.  Did a full cycle with no issues (well, except for tripping the electrics out once on the dryer phase, but when I restarted it it didn't do it again).  I'm wondering whether in its time spent sat in the seller's garage it might have got a bit of damp into the electronics, which then dried out after a night spent in a warm house (a fugging sweltering hot house in fact - old-style storage heaters are almost impossible to regulate and I've got them set on "December" mode, which isn't ideal when it's fugging 15 degrees outside).

+1 for virgin, touch wood i;ve not had any issues with them, unlike BT who were worse than fuggin' useless.

Had Virgin for 2 years now - nothing not a hitch - BT god damn went down more than a pissed up dirty girl in a nightclub, and trying to get to the help line - Fucking Indiana Jones would have stress trying to get an answer of those feckers

Just gets a bit boring.

Guess what just happened to me?

Someone in an Audi pulled out in front of me- in an Audi!

The world might fall off its axis or something.

I just think car people pay attention to the makes and models of cars they see out and about. I think most other people are just feeling under pressure to get where they are going as fast as they can, rather trying to parade their wealth over the people who they perceive to be in their way.

Wow! A woman-human who talks sense.

I'll have to get myself one of those!

Fucking fuckety fuck sticks...

Our house has always had a problem with the main sewer line getting blocked... The issue seems to have been caused by tree roots finding their way through the clay pipe and blocking it up. In years gone by it has sometimes been as much as a 18 months or as little as 3 months between blockages. With out current California drought © conditions it has been more frequent and I have been told it would just get worse. So... I finally sucked it up and got my plumber man in to dig a big hole with a view to replacing the porous clay pipe with magical, modern, impervious to tree root phail, PVC pipe.

My plumber and his son are Scousers, so much "eh eh eh, they do though don't they though" hilarity ensued at early fucking doors and a giant pit was duly dug. Oh yeah, and for extra larfs the main water supply was breached!

post-19583-0-30615100-1449114047_thumb.jpg

After digging all the way to China (maybe) the offending sewer line was unearthed.

post-19583-0-17129100-1449114107_thumb.jpg

Here's the fun part... after breaking the pipe out it was discovered that there was no breach by tree roots anywhere near where the crater was dug. In fact, even though they used magic, or a divining rod or something to locate the trouble spot, it seems that the root incursion is happening much further down the line - conveniently under the pavement and/or the road, so, out of reach...

To make me even happier* my plumbers decided that it would be much more convenient for them to fuck off home without finishing the job... they will be back tomorrow (allegedly), but that means I have a $11ty billion hole in my lawn and cannot flush the toilets or run the water overnight.... and I am having an Indian for dinner. I think I might take a curry infused crap and then flush to show my displeasure - that'll learn 'em!

I could have used that money to buy shiny bits for my Feral Rover, but no... instead I used it not to fix a problem...

I spent several hours watching the Syria debate yesterday. That's not a grump, as I actually found it fascinating and surprisingly enjoyable. Great passion on both sides and the segment I watched was very respectful on the whole - not too much of the childish bickering that tend to typify these things.

Then the vote went the wrong way and according to the SNP (who spoke very well), MPs laughed at the result. How absolutely pathetic to laugh about action that is going to bring a lot more misery to the world. I look forward to Syria developing a new leadership that we'll decide we hate a few years down the line.

Vulgalour, try your library.

(don't colour in the pictures, they tend to frown on that).

If you come to ours, ask nicely and we'll give you some colouring in sheets and felt tips to use!

I am waiting for phone calls and getting annoyed so moved money around in preparation of paying bills. Fuck me, that was depressing!

Just checked the MOT history online for the Multipla and found the tax ran out in October! No reminders or anything... Now I can't find the logbook to retax it!

Arrgh.

MOT runs out on the 10th too...

I don't think the trader that sold the car to us sent his part of the logbook off.... or the DVLA lost it..

This happened to me. For some reason the DVLA are saying that I never taxed the Jaguar (I did but they never seem to have collected it for some reason) and instead of telling me something had gone wrong they simply sent out a fine for £80, reduced to £40 if I paid quickly.

This prompted me to check the Visa and it also wasn't taxed as they had stopped that as it wasn't MOT'd. Again I was not told, so I quickly SORN'd it but am waiting to see if its generated a fine as it was untaxed from the 1st to 28th November.

Trying to find proof of the fact I set up the DD with them for the Jag. I wonder if its got owt to do with the number plate change?

Well im peed off with sky, had a dish installed this morning, it should be activated within 4 hours, I heard the engineer call it through so he did his part, guess what it wasn't activated, i ring them and get told they've just sent an activation again so please wait another 4 hours and filled me full of some crap and when I called them out on it they didn't know what to say and didn't answer. Is it too hard to get honesty from a company

Possibly. DVLA recently cancelled 2 direct debits, following a cherished transfer.

No, they didn't tell me. I spotted the unpaid direct debits and reinstated it.,wasn't that simple to do,either.

They didn't get me this time, but I'll wager they catch a good few.

Underhand and sneaky, frankly

I actually got a reminder from the Dvla about the Iris bus we bought a few months ago.

We obviously sorned it online as soon as we got it home, but it seems to not have been updated at doovla headquaters

Had a letter offering a "last chance" to sorn or tax it last week

Never heard of that happening before......

Going back to the van driving grump, your problem is that probably most people from 17-70 have a driving licence, so most people between 17-70 can drive a van.

Sadly, all the experience and certificates in the world are going to mean Jack to most emitters, who are only arsed about how much work they can squeeze out of you and how badly they can pay you to do so.

I reckon a lot would be actually put off by experience because they'll assume you'll want better money.

It doesn't make it right, and van driving is a fairly shit job, but it's how it's is I'm afraid.

EFA

And almost every one of them is wrong.  Which is why it's a shit job.  You are probably right about my experience, btw, but who would you send out in your 15k new van?  The pro who clearly knows what he's doing, or the spotty shit who's going to rag it to death, if he doesn't take out a bus queue first?

I don't care about the money, my outgoings aren't excessive, I'm even happy with part-time.

If it was my firm mate it'd be the experienced driver on better money. I bet big employers 'risk assess' all this though and just go for most likely lowest wages/hardest grafters.

I had pretty much 13 straight years of van driving and it was a good job ruined by bosses, other motorists and crazy demands. In actual fact, by the I jibbed it I hated driving. Take my hat off to those that do it.

Big employers will do that, deffo.  I'm quite certain my tiny employer does too.  If Scrooge needed lessons he'd come to Brian...

My misses worked at a camp site years ago and was given a long wheelbase transhit to drive right up until a building stepped out into her path while reversing,

I might add when she told them she had only driven a car they weren't at all concerned and just told her she would be fine.

I can understand an unobservant building not noticing a Transit, it happens all the time; I'm sure my house has moved a couple of inches as I clipped it with the Land Rover a week back. (Luckily house and Land Rover are both solidly built so it was a no damage draw.) I do have a mate* who has collided with the same car-park bollard too many times, it wouldn't be so bad if it wasn't his own work car-park and the bollard in front of his reserved parking space.

*no it is not me.

I backed into a lamp post near Shrewsbury in a Transit once which mysteriously jumped six inches and broke some botty rocket's garden wall. The damage actually amounted to a slightly dented inspection cover on the lamppost, yet the garden wall behind it had a massive crack mysteriously was full of cobwebs and shit.

There was a village cop shop opposite and because the coffin dodging old twat who owned the wall made such a fuss, I got the copper out. He took one look at it, told the house owner to f*ck off and that was that, save a minor bill from the council for the cover.

Guess what 4 hours later and still not activated, rung them again and spoke to a chap who was actually being honest about things so there's a bonus. Still annoyed though

if it's any consolation it's just channel after channel of absolute unwatchable wank when it does work, so you aren't really missing anything of value in the meantime.

I'll be honest I don't watch a lot of TV, I've only had it for discovery, discovery shed, animal planet etc the rest of the crap I'll skip past, I got a decent deal with broadband as well, EE has been toss for me, so I thought give sky a go my old man is with them and not had issues, the TV is active now so the Chap I spoke to last did what he said he was doing

Ypu taken your viewing card out, waited 10 mins and put it back in again?

Posted

Yeah did that whilst I was on the phone with the helpful Chap in the call centrebut it didn't work, he questioned whether it was a problem with their end sending the activation signal, so he escalated it to the guys who can reset everything and push the signal, 25 minutes later it was working so whatever they did worked
