I'm very grumpy because of Old_Fart's ban.

Can he be reinstated as a legendary member, something akin to 'The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame'?

It could be called "cocks talking balls, hall of fame"

My first (I think) post on this thread. I got a goddamn speeding ticket. No chance of getting out of it either - already did that course thing about a year and a half ago. Fucking gutted. Anyone else got points? This may be related to the Shitroén having a turbot.

Posted

I had 3 points within 2 months of passing my test, didnt see tje sign or the camera, was a fair cop.

Didnt notice much of an issue with anything tbh, but as a new driver i was already being bumraped so may not have noticed.

Bloody aviva havent reduced the cost of our policy now their gone though, oh no sir, we keep them on record for 5/7/435 years... Bastards, i may see a decrease, may shop around next year and see what happens with no points declared (june 2010 i got them iirc)

I guess they stay on there for ages eh... It's put me off driving!

6:30AM my phone went "ping" and I knew it would be a lad from work needing a lift in cos his scooter was fucked. It's always fucked.
Anyway this time it turns out it wasn't fucked, it had been nicked out of his garage. I feel pretty bad for him, that thing is absolutely cursed. Someone had kicked the back door in, gone through to the garage and wheeled it off.

While waiting for me he walked up the road and found it in the first place he looked (parked out the back of the local scallys house) with a bit of trim ripped off and "some wiring cut". He was mega stressing about it thinking he would need a new loom or something and he's perpetually 100% skint.

Anyway I had a look at it after dropping him off tonight and the stupid fucker that stole it has ripped the front trim off and in an attempt to "hotwire" it has cut the 5 wires that go into the CDI unit off about 6" from the unit, then shorted them together (as they go into the CDI unit) completely missing the wiring for the ignition barrel which was 6" away. Three of the wires were yellow so I left it at that and came home to find a wiring diagram before fixing it.

Anyway, the police were not a lot of use. Despite being told the local scallywag was seen hanging about on the street the previous day, and the bike was found parked against his back fence next to his shed which was open and there were wire cutters on the side in there.

They even had a moan at my mate for moving the bike before they turned up!

He took it back home to secure it rather than leave it outside the thief's house while he came to work, hoping the police would get there before the thief moved it. And if the police did get there first they would no doubt have got it recovered to the impound anyway.

Re: annual leave - I had to submit my April 2016-to-March 2017 requests back in August, the wife works in an academy school which doesn't need to follow the local authority timescales for half-terms.  I may be at a loose end for a week come the end of February 2017...!

Our fucking landlord needs to get in the fucking sea.

We need one piece of paperwork from him.  ONE.  Then we can move house.  This is all over the drain we had to pay to get sorted which he then refused to fix properly.  Because he won't provide the information about it to ANYONE, even the letting agent he uses, our application is completely stuck.  It means it looks like we didn't pay full rent one month even though we did and that puts a black mark against you as a tenant, particularly when you're self-employed low income.  What we did was pay for the repair and the landlord, after some persuasion, agreed we could pay the outstanding balance only for that month.  He originally wanted us to pay for the repair (above £100) and then the rent and trust him to pay us back which we knew he wouldn't.

There's a To Let board on the outside of the house now, our notice to end the tenancy has been given - we didn't want to do this until we knew the new house was a go, but it was decided for us anyway - and we're stuck in this really stressful limbo, living half out of boxes and entirely at the mercy of letting agents and a landlord who I wouldn't encourage someone else to piss on if he was on fire.

This landlord has been an arsehole from day one.  Never, ever, ever rent from P and M Properties in Darlington, his properties are provided through iAM letting agent (who are, on the whole, okay).  I'm ridiculously angry about this situation now and grateful that Mike has been doing the phonecalls and e-mails so I don't completely lose my rag at whomever I have to speak to and scupper all our chances of moving.

Combine this with a 72 hour week last week and it's a wonder I haven't ended up with some sort of medical emergency.

This is the sort of thing where you need to have a calm chat with somebody on the local newspaper. No hysterics, just a truthful description of how the local landlord is messing you about.

If the reporter starts asking questions of the letting agency, I suspect that a certain bit of paper will be in your hands before you know it.

I'm not normally the one to grump on here, but....

At work, my team leader went on sick leave for a week and a half and has now resigned, no working out his time, just gone.

I'm picking up about half his old work as well as doing my own and other bits have been scattered about but we are going to miss his combination of management and techie expertise on how some of the stuff holds together.

Other managers have been somewhat reticent about informing a couple of our big clients on this change.

He was also the last of the old management in my part of the company that you felt was trying to stick up for the doers over the majority of the management and the more troublesome clients.

Not so much of an issue for myself directly, but it has obviously unsettled a bunch of the technical experts and we have been slowly losing the best of them over the past 12 months anyway. If 2 more key people go, we may has well hang a 'Welcome to Shit Creek, bring your own paddle' sign on the door.

Oh well I've seen what happens when you are the last person in a dying department before and I don't want to be there so it looks like. Either they replace the old lead quickly and show a bit more long term commitment to that product line, or I have to make an exit plan, pronto.

Dont worry about it. The one and only time I got points my following renewal went DOWN even after I told them, it was enough to cover the ban. 3 points for an SP30 is no biggy, never made a huge difference to my insurance even in my 20s driving fairly powerful cars.

Yep, got caught some months back. Have to a pay a £100 fine and let them put points on my licence. Tried to go down the route of course but I'd already attended one a couple of years ago.

No biggie, but I'm sure my insurance will go up rather than down because: me.

Work were all given last Friday off paid as it was JCB's 70th anniversary, all except me. I had to have it off unpaid as I had Tuesday and Wednesday off with a chest infection. Wankers.

Anybody want to buy a new JCB or parts thereof?

HR Policy re holiday.

It is a college so we are limited as to when we can have time off but with no students in there is limited work. Major issue is summer because we can have 4 weeks off at a time, yet need to have cover for if students want to enrol.

Came into today to have a showdown and manager was apologetic. Apparently people are taking the piss (massively) so we have to stick to the rules as HR have got involved. I can book them and then change them if i need to at future date.

Still it means I have booked a month off from Jul 11th next year which should be amazing!

Fair play sounds pretty good if that's the case.

Try working for the NHS.

I know my annual leave until August next year because I've been assigned it. We work on a nine week rolling rota of all different shifts, where one week you're assigned leave (to get over working 70+ hours the week before). To change your leave you have to swap weeks or days with someone so that it doesn't clash, there are sufficient bods on the ground and the hours tally. Practically impossible as everyone plans stuff months in advance for their few and far between off days.

It's not unheard of for people to book THEIR OWN WEDDINGS for a specific date eighteen months in advance, to be told by HR they can't have the time off.

I have just been fired for the first time in my life, because the head blocked on a hoover as I finished hoovering.

My grump isn't really about being fired but about the system that Australia uses for extending working holiday visas and how open to abuse and exploitation it is.

Effectively to be able to extend your visa you need to have done 88 days worth of specified work in a rural area, this basically means farm work.

Recently the rules changed so that you can't do volunteer work or work for cash and you have to have a record of tax paid and pay slips.

I did my first 4 and a bit weeks work ages ago on a volunteer basis with a bit of cash if I did anything above what was asked, this worked well and I got on with the farmer really well. However for the past 6 weeks and a day I have been working for a galloping thunder cunt with no idea how to run a small farm or maintain a working relationship with any member of the human race. I have managed to put up with him for so long, having to work over 70 hours a week to have $670 (about £330) in my pocket at the end of the week after paying an extortionate amount back for really shitty food and getting to sleep on a collapsed sofa bed in a room that used to be a garage. I also have to pay him back the amount he has paid in tax in my wages and super (pension) although I am pretty fucking sure he has never paid a single cent into my super account as I have never given him the details of it. I'm also pretty fucking sure that being forced to pay back tax and super to your employer is also illegal.

In return all I wanted was payslips and a signature on a piece of paper to say that I had worked for him for 54 days, but his hoover has blocked so that's the end of that.

He's said I need to go in the morning so he will sign off the 42 days I have done but now I need to find a farm that needs a reasonably skilled but unqualified labourer for about 2 weeks before January which is going to be a right pain in the arse.

I could go on grumping about how much of a cunt this guy is for ages, from his drug use to his laziness to his vanity and his fake 'spiritual' ethos, but I won't as there is not enough time in the world to list every single point that makes him an appalling human.

And breath.

This thread is occasionally so useful for venting some grumpiness. Sorry if the above is dull and/or makes no sense, I just really need to vent.

I think I've finally reached that point where the next person to go on and in about their 'problems' and offload them on to me is going to fucking get it.

I honestly couldn't give a shit anymore, do people not ever stop to think they may not be the only one with problems and that other people don't want their fucking ears bending?

Could be worse http://www.abc.net.au/news/2015-07-31/farm-employers-'manipulate'-backpackers-into-sex/6635252

Seriously, sorry to hear about that it is a shit system.  How difficult would it be to just make up a couple of fake timesheets?

Some low life nicked my ex's dads honda 50 thingy, coppers phoned up we've found the bike come and get it, so hitched the trailer up and shot over there, took about 20 minutes, brain dead copper had left it propped against the local newsagents back fence (gate of which was open and he could have wheeled the fucker inside) and it had been re-nicked before we got there.

I'm not against people going out and having a good time - but why do they have to tell me they're about to go out and have a good time?

JUST FUCKING GO OUT AND HAVE A GOOD TIME!
