I'm a confirmed VAG H8R, so you can imagine how pleased* I was when I was handed the keys to this at the airport and asked to pay £lots for the priviledge*.

It was as dull to drive as you would expect, the interior was full of cheap hard plastic that a even a Wartburg quality control manager would have been reluctant to approve, and despite being a tree-hugging, tax-free "Ecomotion" model it was no more fuel efficient in the real world than a shitter-friendly 1990s Polo !!!

Reliability ? With 8000km on the clock, its electrics were already playing up with the airbag warning light permanently on and the stop-start system randomly turning itself on and off !

More proof, if any was needed, that all modern cars are shit.

We sacked off the HD part of our sky package to save £15 a month. SWMBO was fine with that. We still get BBC, ITV and C4 HD, and that's all we really watch anyway, stuff I record on the other HD channels is available on the normal ones so no loss there...

Now it's gone, all the recorded stuff from said channels in unavailable. I therefore get it in the neck because I should have known... She's in even more of a mood since I told her to fuck off...

Overlooking the ex-Onassis island of Skorpios, in the Ionian sea.

I ran over something last night when coming back from Larne MoT centre. I heard it thump off the floorpan. That road usually has wee bits of tree on it, ripped off by the HGVs heading to the port, so I paid it little mind (I did stop at the Cable Road Filling Station though to have a quick look at my tyres).

I've just been out to put stuff in the bin, and noticed that the Rover's OSF wheel is covered in CV grease. Punctured CV boot. Bollocks.

Could have been worse - it could have happened on the way to the test, I suppose.

I'm kinda in the doghouse too.

Who'd have thought that me saying "Katie, did you see where I put my phone?" would have caused such an "all picture no sound" situation?

Well it did. My bird is called Amy.

Handbrake cable need adjusting? If i remember right,do v70's max out at 6 clicks and wont go further? Slap me down if i am miles out

Run the car slowly while pulling handbrake gently on, it will soon improve. I have to do this on my v70 every year before the mot. Or it will rip the shoe linings off...

Ups are horrible little shitboxes,a far cry from the collective wanking the press have done over them because VAG. At best they're on about a par with the old C1.

Trotec lasers, posting stuff on facebook but getting mysterious when I post asking them to put prices.

"Each machine is different" - balls they've posted a photo of them in the warehouse before crated for shipping. The lasers might be different powers but that's all. No one makes individual machines like that.

It's a code of silence as they charge what they can get away with especially in the US and then everyone keeps quiet in case they find out they've been robbed against what someone else paid.

I'll keep asking for prices on everything they post as they want to be in the "media".

Roland tried the same with some UV printers and now they have prices on the main website after I annoyed them enough.

It's not still the 90's where most magazines for pc's and hi-fi stuff etc just said call for pricing.

Yep, both still here.

She left something at her mums so I lept up, rolled a fag and valiantly drove over to rescue her makeup bag...

Then we bought my daughters brithday pressie from tesco online and somehow got it for free with clubcard vouchers so in her good books again

but what you gentlemen need to remember with regard to your fuhrer lady folk is that the rules can change at anytime, without any prior warning and YOU are required to know what  the rule changes are before they happen.

and woe betide you if you do not.

ignorance is not a defence!

Just a small grump really. Been feeling a bit fed up recently, not feeling the love for the daily Astra no more (will be selling some Irmscher parts if anyone's interested) - generally frustrated to be honest. Want something either more retro or modern which is good-ish on fuel and mainly reliable but most of all a car that I will fall in love with and never want to sell or scrap. SWMBO not hot on the idea either which makes it even more frustrating, so it's most likely all to be wishful thinking.. *sigh*

There was a Retro Kings show today at Snetterton which was part of the Retro Rides forum, my mate ran a club stand for us there today but i didn't go as i was meant to be doing Classic Ford, anyway they had a jet powered Mini there on display.

God knows why but they decided to give it a run towards a 90 degree bend today whilst there, as you imagine, it ended in tears...

Christ knows what they were thinking, thankfully the driver got out ok after the 90mph impact but was taken away in a ambulance as a precaution.

Edit - How do you embed youtube videos now?

Fucking hell, it went through that armco pretty easily! I suspect the jet engine doesn't do the kerb weight any favours, but even so...

At what point did they think that was going to work? Eh!

Just spent £200 on the dog,he's been in twice, had blood test, urine test, loads of pills etc....

He went for a shit and it had a worm in it

So.... He's just got worms?

Why didn't the bloody vet suggest that? We pay into a scheme where he gets check ups and flee/worming tablets etc

No engine braking or mechanical drag either.
