In a report the health body says there must be no more claims that the devices can help smokers quit - until there is firm evidence to support this.

Me, loads of other people I know, thousands of other people I don't know. Methinks World Health Organisation has too much time on their hands and should chill out and have a big spliff.

The WHO warns exhaled e-cigarette vapour could increase the background air levels of some toxicants and nicotine.

Birmingham city centre, around 4pm today.  WTaF???

Took 30 minutes to get from the Town Hall, round Paradise Circus and onto Great Charles Street.  About 200yds.  The lights were out at Newhall Street, which combined extremely well* with the helpful** simultaneous closure of all the Queensway tunnels.

Super.

Yep, it was only last year that the tunnels were opened. Now they've decided to shut it again? For what?

Does anyone else think the Saab 9-3 at the bottom of the quarry is a wee bit eerie? The others can easily be explained as either joyridden and dumped or dumped when scrap prices were so low you had to pay to have cars taken away, but that Saab seems a bit strange. Hope there isn't a body in there.

Stolen and dumped I guess...

Why is there a big hole in the boot of that Audi?

Posted

Because I was pumping cement into it at the time.

I spent a bastard hour trying to remove a bastard corroded brake pipe from the XM, but the run is so bastarding inaccessible that i've given up and i'm going to get a garage to do it. Unless anyone here wants the beer tokens?

The job really needs a lift to do properly.

What is this craze with people tipping buckets of water over their head and filming it? It looks daft. Nothing wrong with donating cash to a worthy cause, but there seems little point in making yourself look like a twat in the process. Apologies to anyone from here who has done it, it does seem to be quite popular at the moment.

Obviously, I hate CHAR-I-DEE.

I did it this afternoon, as did Mrs S, and then all the kids wanted to jump on it, so they had a go, too, albeit with warm water. Turned out to be a right giggle, and helped pass a school holiday afternoon.

Bet we looked like a right bunch of jobless chavs, though, arsing about on a weekday. Shift working FTW.

No-one HAS to do it. As Grange Hill said, "Just say No"

I've been nominated twice but I've not done it. When I see all the ones on facebook doing it I just think Baaaaaaaa.

I can understand if you have kids or what ever as it's a bit of fun for them but other than that no.

I'm happy to believe all the stories of exploding e-fags and their total inability to wean people off 'real' smokes are completely true, and nothing to do with lost taxes and profits.

I nominated my mate for the 'piss bucket challenge' but he never even replied the charity-hating skinflint twat

I did see a couple of fannys on facebook doing the engine oil challenge in which they tipped a sump load of engine over someone. I can't see how that'd ever come off unless you got inside a concrete mixer with a 4litre tub of swarfega.

If its a petrol engine, I would have a prod at the temperature sensor.

If there is a problem there the brains will think the engine is cold so run the mixture rich and raise the idle speed as if it were a winter morning.

My old Astra sport had the X16XEL engine iirc and I had this exact problem, which turned out to just be a dirty corroded connector on on the temp sender unit. I gave it a squirt with WD40 and plugged and unplugged it several times and it was fine after that. Note there are two temp senders, one for the dash gauge and the other for the ECU which is the one you want to look at.

Much appreciated! I did fuck about with the sensor in the air intake duct, and sprayed it with brake cleaner. Found a tin of switch cleaner, may give it another prod and rinse with switch cleaner.

Good job he was standing in that box thing.

I liked Patrick Stewart's approach.

The idea was to donate money not just take the challenge, sheep..
