thought they had sponsorship?

That's a point. They have been crowing all year about their tie up with Dodge. Oh well. We'll have to wait and see what happens.

Roadkill = dead animal found on roadside often used for food. I got confused.

No more Roadkill until September.

They've just posted a video of the Hellcat Charger doing a burnout, too. Bait, much?

And Hot Rod Garage is presented by some random person now too.

Been a 'bit of a day' for dogs trying to kill themselves.... so far, not mine!  First walk of the day suddenly had a puppy loose fallowing us and randomly running into the road. Caught him (no fucking collar!) and found his owners who were not even remotely bothered. Then, 12 week old puppy out for the very first time on Ilsham green, not on a lead, saw Chester (who for once did nothing wrong - wasn't even close to the pup) and ran away as fast as his little legs would carry him.... straight over the main road! Managed to catch him as well and returned him to his frantic owner. Then, another puppy tied up outside the Co-op got spooked by something and got loose and again, ran straight into the bloody road!

He was also fine, healthy and returned to his tearful, frantic and distraught owner - I had to give her a lift home as she was so tearful.

Got home and thought the days dramas were over, but no. Jo just turned up with her dog (Flynn - Airdale) who was sat out in the garden but then saw a flaming cat and ran..... you guessed it, straight over the main road at the bottom of my road. He ran straight in front of a bloody great big Tarmac lorry, the bloke driving it must have the reactions of an F1 driver 'cos he missed the idiotic dog by inches - dog just carried on after the cat!

I am now locking the front door and calling it a day!

Note, not one of the dogs was injured in any way, a fact that I am eternally grateful for. :)

Just found out that my BMW,which I was expecting to pick up today, needs about £500 of head work and both cams are bent. This on top of £1400 bill I was expecting-BOLLOCKS.

No holiday in Brittany for me next week and time to scour eBay for an M57 head and cams, breakers want £500, but there's the AS alternative; a guy in S.Wales has got an oily head on a bit of cardboard in his eBay ad and wants £100. I think I'm going to take a gamble- if it's fucked I've lost £100 if not saved £400.

Do I feel lucky ?

How the fuck do you end up with bent cams? Has the timing chain snapped or something?

Posted

Just tried to have a word with a kid on a monkey bike blezzing up and down our street. He was about 13 and whilst he was wearing a lid he had no other protection. Or plates, tax, or insurance obviously.

He was with some other kids who claim not to know who he was. One kid in particular said "it's up to 'Im if he wants trouble"

Stupid stupid kid. Never mind the illegality of it, if he comes off at speed he is going to get so badly hurt its not funny. And despite my sensible neighbourly approach I can't help but feel I am going to have four flats in the morning

I cringe when I see all the moped and 125 riders with no gloves , and when it's warm just in t shirts!

They are gonna get peeled if they come off

Posted

To be fair, the kind of people that ride 125s like that have it coming to them, they're always obnoxiously loud and badly driven, because 125 LISENSE M8.

It's one of my peeves, having seen the pics of injuries bikers suffer when they don't protect themselves. Not the sort of injuries you can fix with an Elastoplast and if that kid de gloves his feet or hands tonight he is going to be carrying those injuries forever.

Even at 20mph the asphalt can do a lot of damage to your body when you are sliding across it. The road is nicknamed the "cheese grater" for a good reason

Yes. The bottom chain apparently, no I didn't know there was atop and bottom chain either, to start with on initial inspection garage thought a couple of bent valves and a new chain....

I suppose I should be grateful the bottom end and pistons are ok.

When I was 16 I had a piaggio zip50. Binned it on gravel in Sutton-in-Ashfield at about 25 mph 3 days after taking cbt. I had really bad gravel rash and still wince when I think of how rough the nurse was in A an E with the tweezers and antiseptic. I was wearing a vest and tracksuit bottoms. Since then no matter what I ride I wear protective trouser and jacket. I've had folk say to me Oh it's only a scooter, why wear all gear but regardless of what you ride be it a moped or a hayabusa at 30 mph you will still end up in trouble.

Ordered the wrong fucking centre section

Bought this

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Citroen-Xsara-ZX-1-9TD-2-0-HDi-EXHAUST-MIDDLE-CENTRE-SILENCER-100-QUALITY-/271755719809?

I need this after looking more closely at the car

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/CITROEN-ZX-1-9TD-XUD9TE-EST-94-98-Front-Exhaust-/400754058570?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&fits=Model%3AZX%7CCars+Type%3A1.9+TD&hash=item5d4ecda54a

now too skint to buy that of course, so may have to ask my mum. Anyone want whatever the fuck I bought wrong? Probably a bit pointless sending it back, after postage I'll only get a tenner refund which makes it a bit fucking pointless

Have a look at postage as it shouldn't be too bad. Try clicking on return through ebay I found that was mega cheap.

Their policy says they will deduct initial postage which they aren't allowed to do under consumer contract regulations. They also can't charge a restocking fee. You should get most of your cash back.

Sorry but if you have buggered them about because you ordered incorrectly or change you mind I can't see why you don't think they are due some money?

If I sold something on eBay and posted it out only to have the buyer decide he didn't want it anymore and then expect a full refund of the price and post I'd sure as fuck think I was due something.....

I followed a youngish lass riding a scooter this morning wearing short shorts and them awful gladiator sandal things, she was well unsteady on it and was hovering her feet just above the floor round corners and at anything under 10mph, I wouldn't have trusted her on a pushbike. I was cringing like mad just looking

The scooter rider's, not yours.

Because you can't see or touch it. It is part of cost of doing business online. You have to pay for the return costs but similar to the old distance selling regs you have the right to change your mind.

It doesn't apply to private sellers just businesses.

This is basically my view, i fucked up, and its probably not worth my time spending a tenner sending a £20 part back. The chap sent me a screenshot which showed all the bits that should be there, but for a cat system.

Will have a double check if the pipe to fannymould fitting over the weekend and take my mum up on the offer of a short term loan. Doing 25 seconds more searching than i did revealed my screwup

Anyone need a zx or xsara rear to backbox exhaust bit?

Typical. Nothing automotive and road legal that I possess has a tow bar fitted other than my 1965 Volvo Amazon.

Dead useful that is. Not.

I get wound up by seeing people riding bikes without proper gear on, i once upset a guy on a gsxr750 by asking him how much his kevlar knee, hand and elbow implants were as he was wearing shorts and t shirt to ride

Its an age thing I guess, anyone below 30 considers themselves immortal - I did and did stupid things, above that things start wearing out. You get backache - strains etc, and hit 40 and by bugger you sound like your old dad

A lady I know worked at a scooter rental place on Mallorca. With every rental they gave the speech about appropriate clothing but could see the peoples eyes glaze over as they stopped listening.

Pretty much every week some girl in short shorts and a bikini top or some guy in nothing but shorts would find out the hard way. Usually just going too fast and finding a pothole or gravel in the road on a curve.

Also - wear your fucking helmet properly! sadly before I got my dashcam so no film of it but I was following a scooter with two kids on it here. There had been a rain shower after a long hot period so the road was greasy as fuck. They were riding like knobs and I could see it coming a mile away so kept well back and they inevitably binned it on a corner, fortunately at relatively low speed as both their helmets flew off and went bouncing down the road.

Down zat zhere Cornwaaaal one summer afternoon many many sleeps ago we were admiring each others crap bikes when a Yoshi-piped Z900 snarled in with much unnecessary throttle windage. Ridden by a bird in a pink halterneck bikini and not much else. The bike was hotter than she was and had obviously been thrashed like the bastard it was. She took her lid off, shook the blond hair into a an 80s-tastic feather cut and strode into the beer garden. My gobshite mate asked how she would like her tits sanded with 30 grit so she would know how it would feel if she fell off dressed like that.

He really wasn't to know it was her boyfriend's bike that she had just taken for a blatt up the newsagent, and yep, he was the massive fucker over by the rockery, nursing a growling grudge against grockel twats....

The afternoon didn't end well, one of us ended up with a very sore face so you should always wear proper protection!

Full face helmets aren't great in a fight, they provide a convenient handle to hold with one hand and a window to punch through with the other.

Trying to buy a new laptop today. Narrowed it down to three at Argos. Described as having "Intel i5 AMD A10 " processors (!)
They haven't got any of them left anyway, anywhere.

PC Wankers: likewise no stock of actual laptops, just netbooks and those shitty fold over things. And despite some tool asking me twice, I don't want a fucking Macbook instead.

1 local shop has no laptops at all, and the other one isn't open.

I have a fair old chunk of change to spend on this, and no bugger is in a position to relieve me of it.
