Ebay grump, I ordered a load of bits to fit the replacement turbo to the boring and it's all here (most of it arrived on Tuesday) except 2 small silicone hoses and without them I can't finish the damn job ...  Reputable ebay seller I've used before etc. but this time they're being slow, arses. I wanted to finish the job today as I've got other shit to do tomorrow/Saturday.

Oh, and a slightly related grump,  Hermes, thanks for dumping the parcel in the middle of my garden, they didn't even make it the extra 20 feet to the door as I was in, I just noticed the parcel as I went out to the car

Oh blimey.

I've just bought a pair of Stone Creek workboots, and they are being delivered by Hermes.

Hope they don't turn out to be Shit Creek.

I spent yesterday installing reverse sensors on the honda (bit of a grump as every time I picked up so much as a screwdriver, it started pissing it down - the job was finished courtesy of sainsburys underground car park)

the £8.99 ebay kit is pretty good, and does a fantastic job of warning me when I am about to reverse into MY SPARE FECKING WHEEL :(

post-4462-0-42348400-1436454262_thumb.jpg

I did all of the measuring with the boot open so didn't notice until it was too late. I've since solved the problem by disconnecting the offending sensor, the other three give a pretty good coverage anyway :)

^ Ah, but do they allow for the fact that you've got a hoofing great spare wheel sticking out?

I'm not sure £8.99 parking radar doesn't belong in the snake oil thread, but I wish you luck with it nevertheless.

I fitted one of those cheap kits to a customers Kangoo. The bleeper packed up after a couple of days but they sent a replacement straight away and it has been fine since (about 3 months)

Fixed my Pug 205's coolant leak.  Slight grump because the garage that did the cambelt change and also replaced the metal coolant pipe did not finish tightening the jubilee clip at the awkward end. Had to take the front offside wheel off and remove an access panel to get at it.  Filled the fuel tank and investigated the fuel leak (smell of petrol after filling the tank. Goes after 50 miles or so).  Could not find any damaged pipes anywhere or signs of leakage on or above the tank despite first putting the car on ramps, then removing the rear offside wheel to get a better view of the filler and return pipework.  Replaced a jubilee clip on the filler pipe because it had seized and could not be tightened.  Replaced the seal on the filler cap.  The old one allowed the cap to be loose.  Smell of petrol not as strong as after last tank fill, but still present and stronger than my vanilla car scent.  Baffled and grumpy.

Both rear arches on the Xantia have started to do that annoying rust thing.  If it wasn't a white car chances are you wouldn't even see the rust that's there, it's so minor and inconsequential.  I know what's causing it, the structure behind the outer skin isn't painted and eventually rusts through the tiniest pinholes in the metal which then lifts the paint and allows the tiny little rust dribbles to appear.

Solution is to cut the outer skin off, clean everything up behind, coat it all in weld-through paint or something and after cleaning up the stuff that was removed, refit it all again and hope it doesn't come back through.  It's a tedious and fiddly repair and not one I'm looking forward to doing but one that has to be done.  No idea when I'll have the spare time to get it sorted.

No Idea - they had me on a trolley, and just told me to be calm, and put a mask over my mouth and breath slowly as I could, next thing I know I'd missed a week

As predicted eBay buyer being wanker. Said I would refund the money if he sent me the watch.

Turned up today looking like this

He said he got it like this, well actually he said it was a bit slow to change modes . no pictures to support it or proof of it.

Are eBay reasonable or do they still support buyer?

Weston SUPER mare with a load of kids and, even worse, several other coach drivers. I just know the day will be filled with "the boss is a tosser and can't do his job", "sent all immigrants back home", "paki bastards", "wogs", and other epithets that make me think that there is no chance for the human race.

I can stand the, say, first five seconds of it all but...... Well you can guess the rest. Oh the joys of saying to them " well by wife who is second generation black Caribbean thinks that what you say it a total bag of shit beacause x, y and z oh and did I tell you she has a degree in this very subject" then watching they're faces drop for a bit then try, very unsuccessfully to tiptoe around their inherent racism And failing to do so, I find this tedious and boring.

Oh and I've got to be up a stupid o clock the next day as I've to be in Cambridge at half nine. Talk about Sqeueaky drivers hours when the company wants something doing.Coach will be dumped with no fuel and as the kiddly winkles left it.

New build homes, not only are they hideous, tiny, cold, expensive, full of scummy people (Usually) they build these fucking places in the most inappropriate places. Theres two sites I can think of, where traffic is now even worse than it was before. It's always caused by people trying to turn into the 'street'.

It was a boring week anyway, you missed nothing.

While we're on it, how about 'low cost home ownership'? You buy a percentage and pay rent on the rest (and maintenance charges) so you don't actually fucking own it and it's not especially low cost.

REAL 'low cost home ownership' would surely be houses that cost £130,000 to build being sold for one hundred and thirty thousand fucking quid.

Well that went well!

In the grin thread yesterday I wrote that I'd be going to a scrappers today for a trial. Was a shot phone call asking did I ha e to and turn up for 9.

Got there place closed. Security* guard outside was a nice bloke said they are a bunch of wankers that mess you about over money and what work you do and that most of the staff have left.

Few minutes later an oldish bloke turns up, says hello and asks do I have any tools. No I've only got crap, then spends the next 10 minutes discouraging me from working.

Sod it then I came home. Left my last you due to hassle but at most I was always paid on time

Piers Morgan is a bare-faced liar. How on earth he maintains a living, never mind such a high public profile, baffles me.

I'm going to be having both my nine hour allowable minimum rests for this week in the next two days, Newcastle today and Sunderland tomorrow. Joys.

My bluetooth obd2 reader and torque free wont see the ECU on a colleagues 2001 mk4 1.4 pez golof. Shame, as the engine light is on. Some googling shows that it may or may not be an obd2 complaint car, depending on wether it rained the day the car was made and if some bloke called Hans was working that day.

Sounded rough as fuck though when she turned it on, quietened down after a few minutes though. Sounded like a blowing exhaust but when it settled down it was clear it wasnt.

Ha ha ha ha ha. NO.

There's an ongoing saga on the power seller board where punter bought a fish tank heater, and sent it back as defective. Came back with the plug cut off and jammed in a different box. Ebay's droids announced that it had been sorted. Seller announced he'd been shafted and ebay had given the punter a full refund.

TLDR: Buyers can do anything they like.

Mot'd the mk1 Espace today. Straight through, no advisories.

Trip home, overheating, pressurising and a split oil pipe somewhere in the gloom.

Oh joy.

Mk4 Golf is OBD2 compliant, in Europe all models sold after 1/1/2001, and all new models introduced after 1/1/2000 had to have the port.

However, the cheap readers are known not to work very well - it'll work fine on a megabucks Snapon device, annoyingly.

Murray lost again..... but that is not my grump....  It is the stupid commentator saying after the game and I quote " Murray did nothing wrong " I'm sorry he lost ... if he had done nothing wrong he would have won..... The idea of this particular game is to win it.... Where do they dig these people up from FFS ???

I'm grumpy because I was trying to hide from the result before watching the highlights. DOH!

To be fair though, you can play absolutely brilliantly and still get beaten by a better player. Better to get beaten than just blow it by ballsing it up. Like the story in the other semi-final.

The closet vag lover was on lunch when i did it. Mentioned it to him after and he immediatly said the same, it may not be basic obd compliant to force people back to vag to have it plugged in.

Fair play to torque though, it ran every protocol it had 3 times before giving up!
