Good to see Gideon justifying his budget on the basis that we don't want to end up like Greece.

I Listened to a professor on qustion time prior to the election - he stated that we would end up like Greece eventually because our economy is borked. No manufacturing and too much reliance on service and banking.

If it does happen it will be because wages are wank - not enough paying a reasonable amount of tax and too many companies and wealthy individuals exploiting loopholes.

£9 an hour wage by 2020 for over 25's?

Do us a favour Gideon and get folding those bastard towels because you will never be a chancellor as long as you have a hole in your arse.

I suppose at least he can't fuck things up any worse than good old Gordon did though.

Stupid cow and her kids nearly got hit by me on the pushbike. They didn't even look when crossing and were oblivious until my brakes squeaked. North London zombies.

Similar thing this morning. A great porker with earphones in just stepped onto a zebra crossing. Looked neither to the left or the right. Nearly got collected by me, and then a second later by an ancient Avensis taxi. Stupid fat bastard.

eBay grump alert

Why is it so hard lately.

Looks at that address what the hell is going off.

I sold a old film camera a while back. and that was sent to some distribution centre and then off to the USA, even though I put UK shipping on both these items.

Well after about a month since being here, I is now fit enough to appear again.

what was I thought man flu, was pnemonia after seeing my Dr stare at me and phone an ambulance as I sat in his office gasping for breath

put me in an induced coma for a week. And proceeding (They said - I was dead!) suck all the crap out my lungs and generally pump me so full of drugs

I had a week of the most fucked up dreams and I couldnt wake up. Fucking horrific.

Pulled me out of the coma over a day or so, and spent 3 days covered in tubes and rather looking like more computer than grumpy bugger.

Oh and when you see actors jump out of bed after a coma. Thats bollocks, I lost a quarter of body muscle mainly legs and arms in a week.

Onto the wards after that for a week or so,

took me 3 days just to stand up unaided for 5 seconds. 2 weeks later after physio I could walk enough for the powers that be let me home.

that was about 5 days ago, still having to excersise the arms and legs to get back up to pressure.

So chaps - I hope to god you never catch pnemonia - fucking awful illness, drowning in your own phlegm ....

So straight to the Dr's with just a sniff of a cold for me from now on ....

And thanks to the Heartlands staff, pulled me back from the mortal coil. Amazing guys and girls ..

And your dinners where bloody awesome, Pink custard and chocolate sponge! classic!!!!!

Yo welcome back Fred, glad you recovering. Here's to a continued progress for you and hope you'll be fitter and stronger than before.

Posted

Jeez Fred, that's bad! I had that 15 years ago but only need antibiotics and a week off (but I was 27 so much stronger, etc)

It must have been an epic strain. Thank god your doc didn't say you had a cold and sent you home with a box of Lemsip!

Other grump - Tube Strike. I respect the reasons but fucking up an entire city and costing millions? some folk think "yay, day off!" But I have shit to do and can't get in to do it.

Cheers Chaps, probably would have been just a few pills, but me being a arse biscuit held back seeing the doc till the foo was in full pelt!

The phrase

"To Be Honest"

Sick to death of this football manager speak idiocy that people use to start or end a sentence.

These annoying phrases come and go as fashions, I remember in the mid 90's, people used to start sentences with the word "basically"

GRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!

Glad you're ok Fred.

Which reminds me, I wonder how Volksy is doing, and has Hillman_Imp been around recently?

I'm on the mend, Still screwed together and lost a fair bit of weight since my jaw was wired together (it's released now, but still can't really eat anything solid or chew), but back at work and bimbling along. BIggest issue has been the depression that comes with times like this, but colleagues and friends have been pretty supportive.

Fred, that sounds horrific, glad you're recovering. And welcome back.

Just heard that another coach driver friend of mine has died from a heart attack at an early age. He wasn't unfit or even overweight.

Spent a great two weeks with him a few years back on a double man job to Sweden with the six wheel EOS including a tight moment when the fan bearings collapsed in the middle of nowhere . Best laugh had for a long time.

Not so long back he was second man on the ski coach that tragically overturned, killing a teacher. It changed him, not for the better.

Alan, sad you've gone mate, well before time.

Regular readers will know I'm mental and hate interacting with people. I'm also one of the organisers for a mentals group. When I agreed to do it it was on the understanding that I'd be the backroom boffin type, and the other organisers would do the talking.

Said group are having a day out tomorrow. It's one of the other organisers plans, and I'm going as a punter. Ha ha, wrong! She sends me a message, oh, BTW I'm going directly there by car, so you'll have to collect the rest of them and get the bus there.

Slight problem of a) I haven't a clue who the rest of them are, so stand there like a chump with a meetup sign and hope people approach me. B) I haven't a clue where there is. Going to be entertaining guessing when to stop the bus.

So I'm basically being the organiser that I hate doing without any of the information to er organise with. Plus there's 7 signed up to go, so on past performance maybe 1 or 2 will turn up. Or I can say chuff it and not go, then 15 will turn up and I'll be the bastard for ruining the day.

SWMBO and I have a new tumble dryer. Whilst we're waiting for her electrician cousin to rewire the sockets to a single feed for it I've been running it off a socket on the other side of our back door, via a metre long extension across the back door.

Just been to check the back door was locked and smelled electrical death. Tumble dryer has been on since about 8pm but seems fine. Look down and my 1-metre cable has been replaced by my 30-metre cable reel extension which is quite literally red hot and starting to melt 'cos she hadn't unfurled it at all because "it was in the way and I wanted the back door open for a breeze. :@

Close call there Fred.  What happened to Volksy's face?  I feel very out of the loop, so I'm hoping nobod else is seriously ill or dead without me noticing.

Ebay grump, I ordered a load of bits to fit the replacement turbo to the boring and it's all here (most of it arrived on Tuesday) except 2 small silicone hoses and without them I can't finish the damn job ...  Reputable ebay seller I've used before etc. but this time they're being slow, arses. I wanted to finish the job today as I've got other shit to do tomorrow/Saturday.

Oh, and a slightly related grump,  Hermes, thanks for dumping the parcel in the middle of my garden, they didn't even make it the extra 20 feet to the door as I was in, I just noticed the parcel as I went out to the car

I spent yesterday installing reverse sensors on the honda (bit of a grump as every time I picked up so much as a screwdriver, it started pissing it down - the job was finished courtesy of sainsburys underground car park)

the £8.99 ebay kit is pretty good, and does a fantastic job of warning me when I am about to reverse into MY SPARE FECKING WHEEL :(

post-4462-0-42348400-1436454262_thumb.jpg

I did all of the measuring with the boot open so didn't notice until it was too late. I've since solved the problem by disconnecting the offending sensor, the other three give a pretty good coverage anyway :)

^ Ah, but do they allow for the fact that you've got a hoofing great spare wheel sticking out?

I'm not sure £8.99 parking radar doesn't belong in the snake oil thread, but I wish you luck with it nevertheless.

I fitted one of those cheap kits to a customers Kangoo. The bleeper packed up after a couple of days but they sent a replacement straight away and it has been fine since (about 3 months)

Fixed my Pug 205's coolant leak.  Slight grump because the garage that did the cambelt change and also replaced the metal coolant pipe did not finish tightening the jubilee clip at the awkward end. Had to take the front offside wheel off and remove an access panel to get at it.  Filled the fuel tank and investigated the fuel leak (smell of petrol after filling the tank. Goes after 50 miles or so).  Could not find any damaged pipes anywhere or signs of leakage on or above the tank despite first putting the car on ramps, then removing the rear offside wheel to get a better view of the filler and return pipework.  Replaced a jubilee clip on the filler pipe because it had seized and could not be tightened.  Replaced the seal on the filler cap.  The old one allowed the cap to be loose.  Smell of petrol not as strong as after last tank fill, but still present and stronger than my vanilla car scent.  Baffled and grumpy.

Both rear arches on the Xantia have started to do that annoying rust thing.  If it wasn't a white car chances are you wouldn't even see the rust that's there, it's so minor and inconsequential.  I know what's causing it, the structure behind the outer skin isn't painted and eventually rusts through the tiniest pinholes in the metal which then lifts the paint and allows the tiny little rust dribbles to appear.

Solution is to cut the outer skin off, clean everything up behind, coat it all in weld-through paint or something and after cleaning up the stuff that was removed, refit it all again and hope it doesn't come back through.  It's a tedious and fiddly repair and not one I'm looking forward to doing but one that has to be done.  No idea when I'll have the spare time to get it sorted.

No Idea - they had me on a trolley, and just told me to be calm, and put a mask over my mouth and breath slowly as I could, next thing I know I'd missed a week

As predicted eBay buyer being wanker. Said I would refund the money if he sent me the watch.

Turned up today looking like this

He said he got it like this, well actually he said it was a bit slow to change modes . no pictures to support it or proof of it.

Are eBay reasonable or do they still support buyer?
