RedSparrow Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Hmm. So far it look reasonably reversable but looking at his 2CV he'll probably continue adding bits of shit to it until one day it's completely worthless to anyone.Shame, quite a rare thing. That could've been doctor material.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 To be fair he'll probably have to give up his licence before too long, lets hope its not too late for the Civic. trigger and warren t claim 2
cobblers Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 god forbid if he has touched any children, they'll be easy to spot because they will have a massive italic SPORT sticker on their jaw and some gaudy pinstripes down the side of them, poor things.
Rover414 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I pass those 2CVs quite often too, always baffle me.
Cavcraft Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Does anyone on the M56 ever actually use the left hand lane?
trigger Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 He certainly seems a character. https://www.facebook.com/barry.j.iddon
warren t claim Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 FFS does this guy hail from Speke in Liverpool?
Rover414 Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Aye that's right, not sure if he's relocated as the photos of the Civic seem in a different part to where I used to see the 2CVs.
warren t claim Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 I've lobbed a pic of that 2CV up earlier. What a wanker.
Conrad D. Conelrad Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 That custom dash is pretty neat though.
Mr_Bo11ox Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Is that his Viva as well? It loos like its got off fairly lightly
chaseracer Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Is that his Viva as well? It loos like its got off fairly lightly Yes. It is.
daveb47 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Sounds clutch related. likely to be whatever connects the clutch pedal to the release mechanism. I think your is hydraulic. Switch engine off, do gears engage cleanly? I expect that they will. Then engage reverse and try start the engine, does car try to move backwards. obviously make sure nowt is behind and that you have foot on brake pedal etc etc. Chances are that hydraulics has air in it, simple bleed might fix. if it does but air gets back in then slave / master rebuild might be on the cards On A series transverse there was a lever that was pushed by the clutch that was supposed to disengage the clutch. It had a ball on the end that wore away only on one side, it go so far as to take maybe 2mm off the ball before the clutch would no longer disengage correctly. A good one looks like this a borked one would have a slightly shaved ball on the left side of the pic edit to add bollocks beaten by Bolloxhammer a smaller socket over it!!! Yes literally.find an old 1/4 " dirive socket that just fits over pushrod end, reassemble, problem solved.Or bend arm slightly in vice.grease ball before reassembly.Done this many times on many Bl cars.Problem solved
ruffgeezer Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 First task at work on Monday? Something nice and light; replace the headgasket on the world's wankiest MGF...
cms206 Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Twice Facebook uploader has shit itself with two photos left to upload out of 303. AAAAAAAAAAAAARGH!
dollywobbler Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Be more selective in your editing then! I came back from Shitefest with 447 photos, but less than 200 made it to Faceache. More shots of that hideous 2CV confirm that there's f*ck all of it from 1966. It's a 1980s bodyshell. You can see where he's done a really shit job of filling in the rearmost side windows.
Station Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I wasn't really sure where to post this but a little part of me just cried, a 81 year old 2CV owner has recently found this mint, 1 owner from new Honda Civic with only 35000 miles on the clock for £250. I'm actually gutted! what's wrong with some of these people!. http://thisoldhonda.org/collector_cars.php?ID=5290 Thought you'd written 18 then. What a massive tool.
Mr Livered Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 From his website: I have had a great many of these vehicles, which I modified to suit my taste Christ, how many cars has he done that to?!
purplebargeken Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Feel strangely miserable and down. Attributed to lack of taxi-ness and chronic, seemingly unending back and leg pain. Mostly a lack of taxi though. The Amazon is lovely and all but I miss the taxi. Arse. Feck, feck, feck.
RedSparrow Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 A combination of this: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/motoring/motoring-news/reliant-robin-named-worst-british-car-of-all-time-8819606.html and constant prattle about the Royal baby have lead me to unsubscribe from the Independent's page.
Parky Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I just don't seem to be able to stem the tide of money flowing out. If its not four birthdays this month, it's the wife's student loan, four tyres needed for the daily, Christmas not far off, wife's Fiat needs servicing, unexpected tax bill etc etc etc. happens to all of us I know but FFS give me a break will ya!
Station Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 A combination of this: http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/motoring/motoring-news/reliant-robin-named-worst-british-car-of-all-time-8819606.html and constant prattle about the Royal baby have lead me to unsubscribe from the Independent's page. How old must that survey be? The Reliant Robin has been named the worst British car of all time, according to a new survey. The Austin Maestro and Austin Metro came a close second and third respectively as the worst British cars of all time. The research also revealed that the average age of the boy racers is now 35 for men and 34 for women rather than a newly qualified driver. While the top boy racer car was the Ford Escort XR3i. Top boy racer car is the XR3i????!!!!
Lankytim Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 What a sack of ill-informed made up shite. Wilko220 1
dollywobbler Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Lazy, desperate marketing strategy for a TV programme, put together by folk who haven't got a clue about anything it would seem. Strange that the favourite car is probably the one I'd pick as worst.
brickwall Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Aye, there are way worse cars than the Robin. Most people carriers for instance.
Pillock Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I'd like to see what made the Maestro one of the worst, but the Mini one of the best. Unless they were handing out points for "not being able to find a comfortable driving position" and "whiny at any speed". Average age of a boy racer? WTF? Where do they come up with this utter tripe? Wilko220 1
Station Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 I hate to point this out, as it feels like banging one's head against the wall but Stevehill6 makes this observation in the comments. Austin Allegro has to be up there, and the Marina. And the Austin Princess, Austin Maxi, Austin Montego and Austin Ambassador... I'm starting to see why Rover went bust. I remember two rep mobile executive type neighbours who both had new Montegos and raved about them, probably because they were new. My dad's Ambassador felt like every other white product that is identically comparible to today's cars (but without plastic chrome trim on the interior). They were cars of the era, and in twenty years time we'll have the same about Renault's gearboxes, etc etc. Why don't people make this out with steel or coal industry that went under in the same period of time?
Cavcraft Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Also didn't Rover go busy yonks after those models were last sold new?
RedSparrow Posted September 16, 2013 Posted September 16, 2013 Totally. Judging 70s - 80s cars by today's standards because LOLTOPGEAR.
