Just your photocard expired? AFAIK your licence itself is perfectly valid still (unless your licence had expired for medical reasons). I was pulled a few years ago with an expired photocard and the bloke barely even raised an eyebrow about it - just mentioned in passing "get your licence renewed when you can, mate"

Just the photocard but the cop said I couldn't drive.  We have just been, first to the police station and then to the pound and recovered the car.

Had my licence to show the police, handed him the pack of the documents the cop wrote out at the scene, my licence, insurance certificate, V5, MOT certificate and the receipt from when I bought the car.

Then my son showed his licence as it was he who had to drive the car away from the pound.

The police phoned the pound to allow them to release the car.  Had to show the documentation again there.

No licence, gone missing in the police station.

They accepted my bus pass photocard fortunately.

Been trying to phone the police about the missing licence and can't get through, same with their chat line.

My Dad died last night , currently sitting in a farmhouse on a hill waiting on 100mph winds to hit , this is safely going into my top 10 worst day lists , only solace is sitting in my dad's chair

Sorry to hear that, not a good day at all.  :(

Condolences.

My dad would’ve been 53 today.

And I’m fucked off about it.

This - always this.  The Owd Giffer & the Mothership will hit  87 and 86 soon, so I'm seeing them as much as I can.

Thoughts with you, Boycie.

The photo is ancient.  Taken from an older licence, then passed to my passport in around 2009, then on to two more licences.

The driving licence photo was rubbish though, too many generations.

So sorry to see this. RIP.

Take care of yourself. I cried so hard when my terrier died a year or so ago I nearly passed out and have tears rolling down my face now.

When we lost our first king charles I hardly spoke for two weeks.

technical things , we decided to watch a freeview program tonight ... it did not work , we have not used it for ages , so retuned ..

it still broke up and squawked , so tested the aerial lead and it cleared up , so redid the plug end into the telly ....

and it still broke up , so I turned the telly a bit , and it worked , turned it back and it broke up ...

so I moved the router , and it still broke up ...

turned out it was the ..... nearby phone base station , not the phone .  which I picked up a few months ago

shows how much we use freeview ...!!

Tried to take driving licence photo's.  Spent an age setting up the DSLR to do it perfectly, one problem to overcome was the remote not working.  Then the battery ran out.  Bugger.   Had tried with the phone and the pictures were crap.

Went to Morrisons and used the photo booth there, went OK but that was two hours gone already.

Took the papers and photo's to the woman next door to sign for me.  Unfortunately she was out and her husband was there.  He was OK with doing it but filled in my bit instead of his bit, so have to go and get a new set of forms tomorrow, try and get them signed and take them to the DVLA for approval.  Which will take all day and there may not be time to get to the DVLA.

Ordered new work boots.

Size 11.

Put them on, too fucking big.

Turns out my 11s are a euro 45. Size 10.5

New 11s are euro 46.

So I'm back in my knackered old ones.

Arse.

I liked the days when one didn't have buy a new licence cos the sell by date was up.

Would have been free if I hadn't let it expire (unintentionally, no reminder)

Had to pay for mine both times. Couldn't tell you why mind.

Hope it all gets sorted. Any reasonable insurance firm would surely put aside this slight admin hiccup. I'm employing the treating others how I would like to be treated ethic here. Am sure many folk still operate like that.

No insurance company is going to accept an expired licence.

Someone reversed into my car twice this morning in the Aldi car park and then drove off (no obvious CCTV cover)

Unfortunately for the driver of the 2006 Fiesta with P plates my 17 YO daughter was in the back of the car whilst I was in the shop and had the presence of mind to take down the number plate ( but not use her bloody iphone that is glued to her hand all the time to take a photo of the car).

I dont really want the hassle of going through my insurance, if they had stopped & exchanged deets I'd have just said bung us £50 and I'll buy some paint myself and that would have been that, but its this attitude now that "if I dont stop no one can prove anything and Ive got away with it"

I can pay a tenner & get her details off the insurance database, but can I really be arsed with it & the aggro?

Just call the police and report them for leaving the scene of an accident without leaving details? I had to do this once and they were given a caution (or so the police told me)

An elderly family member (who probably shouldn’t have been driving) clipped a parked car, thought she hadn’t done any damage and so carried on (obviously not the right thing to do), and as a result got a visit from the local constabulary.

Definitely worth a 101 call to plod. Photos would have been better but a witness in the car should back up your claim.

I do hope that you are correct with this.  Unhappiness will follow if not.

The dates on the back of the licence next to each category are the ones where your entitlement to drive is affected - usually expiring when you are aged 70 I seem to recall?

A shame that the licence in question was lost in South Shields police station.
